Tri Star Homestead

Tri Star Homestead

We are a family of three that moved from suburban Northern California to the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains in East Tennessee to build a Homestead from scratch. Follow along with us as we build our own home and farm, raise and grow our own food and take on new adventures. We hope our journey helps motivate you to achieve your goals.

We would love to hear from you!

    Scaffolding here in the UK can have the height adjusted by using blocks of wood or adjusting the upright poles, especially on slopes or uneven ground. Also Especially on stoney ground. The taller scaffolding is adjustable, allowing you to level the various work levels on it. No falling off or wobbly ladders, you also do not have to stretch out to work which alters your centre of gravity. At the end of the day, it’s about safety surely.

    Please, please, please, do not use that electric net fencing. Suck it up and use cattle panels or go to tractor supply and get small livestock panels with T posts of course. Too many farmers are having their livestock (Sheep) get tangled in the netting it kills them. Go watch Sow the Land, it was very shocking and SAD. sorry IMO. Oh and hello from Michigan.

  • @TriStarHomestead
    @TriStarHomesteadКүн бұрын

    We aren’t using the net. You’ll have to tune in Wednesday to see what we do. We aren’t using cattle panels though since we plan to move them and that is not really doable.

    Congrats on your new purchase of lambs but I would suggest still vaccinating them for CD/T and if they were mine Id breed them at 7 months of age and lamb them at a year of age. but good luck looks like they will have plenty of grass to eat

  • @Sleekfalcon
    @Sleekfalcon3 күн бұрын

    I would do some research about St. Croix Sheep prior to making snark comments. Parasite resistance is only one of the benefits of the breed. They are also known for hoof rot and flystrike resistance. Also a low input meat source. Resistance does not mean they cannot get them they are less likely to get them over many other breeds. Just like fly sprays, flea and tick treatments, all preventative measures, a resistance not a guarantee. Nothing funny about it. But this breed is known for their resistance beyond other breeds.

    I love the dog barking at the new sheep and then looking at you as if to say, "Do you see these things?! Why aren't you doing something about these things?!" And then he starts whimpering when he sees you petting them instead of him. Animals have some interesting tendencies.
