A very helpful video, thank you! A good way to measure your hips is to wear a close fitting garment with side seams that won't move around, then take two measurements front and back from seam to seam. Add them together for your hip measurment. Just make sure to measure from the same points on each seam.
That's a great tip, thank you for sharing! Using the seams as a stable point is brilliant.
I haven't even watched most of the video yet, but I just love your talk about loving your body for what it does and not what shape you think it should be <3
Thank you! I wasn't sure if I should add that bit in but I'm really glad I did.
i'm so happy this video is finally out! there's a lot of math in here for things i usually wing and that will be really helpful for me
I'm so glad! You were top of mind finishing this one up.
For taking measurements if you don't have a fabric measuring tape (or if yours isn't long enough), you can also wrap a piece of string/yarn around where you want to measure, and measure the length of string!
Thanks for the tip! The only caveat I have to this one is if you're using some kind of string that has some stretch to it (like yarn), make sure that you aren't stretching it out when measuring, as that can skew the results.
Another inspiring video, thanks! 👍
You are so welcome - thank you for watching!
Hi DH ❤!! Nothing like a Great WIP Parade!!😊 Happy Making 🐢🐸!!!
HI KAREN! Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!!
I love your new glasses.
Thank you so much! They're giving "eccentric German toymaker" and it's a vibe.
Oh my... I NEED a stellar Sailor. Do I have enough teal yarn.... wait focus Corrie... must finish something first... But... but... Ok, I will challenge myself to finish as much as possible during the travels and visiting family for the next few weeks, then start a Stellar Sailor
Corrie, are you inside my brain? This is my inner dialogue every time I see something beautiful! I MUST MAKE IT!
@@thecozydh Lol. Yes and also why I am super overwhelmed by my wips, but does that stop that cast on impulse...No
yes! i really want to watch other ppl make it since i can't start it yet!
Beautiful Animals and projects!
Thank you so much!!
I'd love to know how this ends up holding up over time and washing. If it works out in the long term, this would be a great option to use for cutting knitted fabric up for all kinds of purposes.
I will report back! I haven't worn it much because of the weather, but I will let you know how it stands up to that and a run through the washer.
Awesome!! Thanks for Sharing!!
Of course! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I love learning more DH lore. That McDonald's pizza story was an absolute doozey!
It's such a totally random thing to be such a core memory of my childhood - glad it gave you a giggle!
Monogamy is overrated in most things, especially crafting.. hopping between projects is half the fun!
That is what I'm learning! The brain parasites needs constant change.

❤ Absolutely Beautiful Finishes!! Thanks for Sharing 💜
Thank you so much! And I'll let Toot know as well, she put in so much work on the pieces I showed off.
Love your Celtic Witch!! Amazing 💜 !!! Your Mandela colors are beautiful 😍 Looking forward to seeing your sizing method. Happy Stitching 😊
Thank you so much! I'm so happy with it, really. I can't wait to get my hands on more yarn to keep going!
Monogamy 😱
Right? I'm seven days in and starting to itch.
I'm so happy to hear you were able to change up knitting your sweaters. The field sweater is so pretty. Best of luck yarn hunting. And love and light as you try monogamy crafting. I don't think I could do it. lol
I don't think I can do it either!!
I think Retro Claude always knits socks flat. She's a disabled creator and does mostly historical things, and most of those knitting patterns are on straight needles. So much sympathy about unexpected fireworks....
I adore Retro Claude - and I have knit socks flat before from some vintage patterns! I couldn't get the sizing right - I think these will be a lot closer to a "standard" sock recipe.
I got an 18 pice Knitting needle set at a "dollar store". They where so fimsy but better then buying every size in a good quality and then never using them. Only reason for me to buy needles off amazon is shipping. I pay a bit more per needle but if one broke and i need a replacement fast. Amazon is the way to go. It gets here in 2 days and i don't pay double the price cause of shipping. This has saved me before when my most used wooden needle snapped.
It's so frustrating when Bezos has your back. But I'm glad you can get what you need quickly!
I have been using the water soluble pens for quilting before and it disappeared on its own over time, I guess because of humidity. Which was not intended, it was a long project xD
Oh no! I'm hoping it wasn't enough to throw off the project . . .
I love Bob, he looks so cool!
Thanks so much! I'm so incredibly proud of him.
It's nice to see you knitting again! I hope the socks knit flat works out, handknit socks are one of my favorite things about knitting
Right? Handknit socks are just amazing, I am glad I rarely go out and I don't have to settle for storebought even though I only have a few pairs of handknit.
Watched this while knitting a gauge swatch for my first-ever top! Also I've never used Notion but I'd definitely be interested in how you organize your knitting with it.
Stay tuned! Definitely have to do a Notion video soon, there is a lot of demand for it! Hope the swatch went well!
I enjoyed your first podcast plus you got me to order Mr. Roger’s knitting in the neighborhood and. It was worth getting. I started knitting the Nurture sweater for my daughter. That’s the sweater she liked best. Thank You so much💐💐💐
Omg that's awesome!! I'm so happy to share the love of classic cardigans with a new generation.
I see that you're knitting with the yarn in your right hand, throwing style? Either way you're letting go of the right needle, wrapping the yarn and then grabbing the needle again. Have you considered trying picking, or even Portuguese knitting? Even if you also learn flicking style, working some sections/projects with a right-held method and some sections with a left-held method will give your shoulders a break.
You make a good point on the shoulder being related to the method of knitting. A different style could definitely alleviate that - more future knitting science?? I know personally that tensioning the yarn in the left and trying to pick results in cramping in the left hand very quickly. I know how to do it, I just prefer throwing.
@@thecozydh I think it depends on what you're used to. If I'm having trouble with tension I wrap the yarn around my ring finger and that adds enough resistance that I can let the yarn just run over my index finger. Then I can move that closer to or further from the needles to ease or increase tension. I also know that it increases the strain on my hand if I leave that working section too long. The YT channel Arne and Carlos has/have a video on norwegian-style knitting (?v=8WFodif41QM), that kind of shows what I mean by keeping everything close and keeping the movements small. I'd certainly say that this would be a good topic for the next knitting science experiment.
I'm going to have to try this too. I get wrist pain in the same places. Right now the only thing I know if that I need to keep and small needle project and a thick needle project that I alternate between because that seems to help with pain
I wish you luck in your testing! It really was so helpful for me - I feel like my scaphoid has never NOT hurt while knitting and I just ignored it.
I was actually wanting something like this video. Didn’t say it out loud. Never watched your videos before. This pops up. The algorithm is crazy. I’m making yarn from plastic bags (cutting them into strips and braiding them) and knitting them and it’s not been kind on my hands.
Yikes! Plastic bags sounds rough. Definitely do some testing on different methods so you don't tear yourself up. Would love to see what you're working on!
@@thecozydh the real fun part is that braiding them causes friction in the first knuckles of my index and middle fingers so first they actually got a friction sore and are now forming small clauses. The yarn it makes is…interesting. It holds form really well so it’s almost impossible to lose a stitch. It’s weirdly hard but still got some stretch to the knit when it’s done? So far I’ve just got I’d say 14 inches wide and about five inches tall. The goal is to make a reusable shopping bag out of disposable ones. OR a fine art piece on the consumerism of America and our ability to reuse (I pulled that out of my ass) that I can try to sell for millions. I’ve got pretty long knitting needles but I anchor the one im knitting on to under my armpit and then leave the other one free if that makes sense
Love this! I look forward to future Science videos
Me too! Already done some testing with different sizes, no official experiments - stay tuned!
Whete is his waddle
Thanks so much for your suggestions! I left off the wattle purposefully because the void chickens in the game don't have them!
Love Void he is really cute
Stack 2 buttons in different colors
Make bobbles for the eyes
Just go for it. If you don't like it make another and another
What's a void chicken?
They're a cute little spooky chicken from the game Stardew Valley! (although the temptation to reply to your question with "about five pounds" was stronk . . . )
I am on my second chicken. Love to use my stash yarns
I was just looking at my random balls of scraps for blankets and thinking "Hmmm . . . chonky chicken army??"
Loved your sweet baby on your neck the whole video. 🥰 So glad you've found something that works for you to knit!
He is a good boy. And thank you, I'm so relieved to be excited about knitting again!
Loved that you called the sweater's colour Moon Blue! <3 I'm so happy you're able to slowly get back into an art that you love by accomodating your needs!
Of course it's Moon Blue <3 and thank you! Learning to not only accommodate your own needs, but also be okay with needing that accommodation in the first place can be so hard.
Penny was such a good baby this whole podcast! I loved loved loved watching him while you spoke <3
There's a couple of moments when I pulled the piece I was showing off down, and his lil head was just sitting on my shoulder - straight up deceased from cute.
Hooray for science! I love that color you're making for your friend. I always appreciate people who are gentle about their snakes. My phobia was made much worse by people not being gentle (I'll leave it at that) But I can be so proud of myself and my progress, because 4 years ago I could not have even watched with your snuggle noodle on screen
Awww I'm so glad! Ball pythons are (I find) a great 'get to know snakes' snake because they are so slow-moving, sweet, and easy to hold. He would have happily stayed there all day.
Oh interesting. Witchy Stitcher =) Congrats on the finish! Love a good quick stitch! Sorry about the chair =\ deff positive vibes going to you for that. My sister has a red-tailed boa, she says HI =)
Yes I'm becoming a Witchy Stitcher stan! And hello to your sister's redtailed boa, they are gorgeous snakes.
Nice Necklace
Thank you - might say it's a sneklace.
I've been subscribed for a while but never caught a stream live and this is my first time sitting down to watch one of the vods, and I can't believe I didn't pick these up sooner! Absolutely amazing vibes, I'll definitely be trying to catch some live soon:) also! In the vein of hand pain/strain I wanted to mention that the wheel actually seems like a very good way to keep the movements of your hands/wrists slightly varied rsther than the same repetitive motion the whole time, which I've heard is supposed to be helpful!
HI BIRDIE! I know you only caught a few minutes of the stream last night, but so happy to have you with us now!
Got my on the cross stitch hype. I might even have a project done till the next 24hocs.
One of us one of us one of us
Loved the vlog!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the craziness.
Oh man I remember the chair XD Thanks for posting! The progress looks great! With you on the "I thought this would be easy" part. Worth it!! Was hard but a ton of fun. Hopefully next time I can catch more of the streams! =) Cheers!
We thought it would be easy. We were so very wrong.
You are far too kind <3 <3 <3 Thank you so much for introducing me to cross stitch so we can do amazing things like this together!
I will always, always enable and encourage you to do all the inadvisable things.
Happy late birthday! The 24 Hours of Crosstitch stream you did was absolutely amazing <3 glad I could join it!
It was so good to see you in stream!
