Historical recreationist making videos about medieval and renaissance historical sewing, calligraphy and scribal arts, knitting, and more. I mainly play in the SCA but also veer into fantasy LARP and Renaissance festival territory.

Your channel never fails to lift my spirits watching you empower yourself through fashion. I really loved the red and white stays/bodies (?) you were sewing in at one point of the video. Do you have a video in which you showcase their construction? I’d love to see it. I hope you get much wear and enjoyment out of these pieces. Happy Pride Month 🏳️🌈

I didn't know there was a name for embroidering with counting threads, and one without; I designed and embroidered a geometric pattern on red linen and used a tablet on max brightness and turning off after 10 minutes as a backlight to make counting easier (this was probably not healthy for my eyes). I've never seen a frame like that either, I watched you set it up with a dropped jaw because that's genius!! I don't know much about embroidery at all, school only taught the kind you sew on the special fabric with gaps so I've been adapting what I know from there and generally making things up. I've never found a place that sold linen by weights, I tend to find stuff by touch and thus started a headscarf project with too heavy linen. I wonder if I can somehow repurpose that large square...

This is a documentation of a project, not a tutorial video; a lighter color would not have worked for the coat this trim was woven for. Thats also why I didn’t cut the wrong warping, it’s important to show that even time consuming mistakes can be fixed.
