I really like Spike Brewing products. I currently own a Flex fermenter that I later upgraded to Flex+, and am now thinking about buying a CF5. If I have any criticisms of Spike Brewing it is 1) They are not particularly good on the website about telling you everything that comes in the box with your product and 2) Product availability is often a problem. There have been at least two occasions where I very much wanted to buy from Spike Brewing but I grew tired of waiting for them to become available and ended up buying from a competitor. Most recently it was the Spike Flow, and I ended up going with a Blichmann Engineering Riptide.
Uncle Nearest is good stuff.
We're gettin it goin!!
Well if I had known you were doing whiskey i would have tuned in sooner....
Looks like a good time🤙

I have a pico C
Still able to brew with it?
How do you know it tastes any different from one that you haven't aged for only 1 year
I have had 4 of them now. Bought same day and had one fresh, at 3mintha and at 6montha. Now this one
This is my decision 2022 between a CF5 or CF10. I mostly do 5-6 gallon batches of beer but sometimes i'll do a 10-12 gallon batches. Im just concerned about the amount of headspace on a 5 gallon batch in the CF10 would negatively affect the beer. I cant seem to figure out if pressure brewing would mitigate any negative effects of large headspace or even if if the headspace issue is not to be concerned about. So many questions....
I find the pressure does have an effect
Is brewed like ale with top fermenting yeast, and typically ferment at warmer temperatures than lagers.
Is there a way to still use Pico? The servers have died.
I used mine in june no problem
So you probably know if you follow Stone, that some time ago they reached out to their fan base(me included) and asked what one beer that has been retired come back, the overwhelming response was this beer, now I am a die hard Stone Head since the late 90’s Definitely the best brewery to visit in SD, which I still frequently visit, but the beer I missed and voted for was their Outstanding Vanilla Porter and the CA only release Orange Porter. This beer is exceptional for the style, but I always felt and I do now that it is style that is and never been fully appreciated or in high demand, only though Stone’s fan base did this beer return and I feel it will not last long nationwide
Rgr life tech?
Is the picobrew still working
Beer and whiskey! Maybe some mead?
Maybe!! Could be great
hello im looking to get one off these machine im all ready a home brewer ben doing it for years can you manualy brew with the machine if you cant i wont by one i will stay with what i all ready do
Matt, you can do manual brews for sure
I'm wicked patient. New business idea: I'll buy beers to cellar, and sell them at a premium.
This is a good beer, Bell's Third Coast, that is.
I know that look on Mike's face in the opening. He farted.
Yeah I got a spike conical fermenter cf5 coming up :) cheers 🍻
Just ordered one myself! Can't wait to get going with it! I spy a nice Dr Z amp too. Man, I want one of those too!
Awesome video! Needed to learn a little about grain milling some home brews I'm going to be working on and this was super informative. Look forward to more videos guys, subscribed!
Man i really need to try some of your homebrew
I am a fan of hazy IPA’s! I always recommend Boulevard Space Camper for an entry level hazy IPA! It’s very delicious!
Grainfather👎😆🤑!!!....... brewzilla👍🍻😊!!!!!!
Brewzilla is great, too. Less automation, but also half the price of Grainfather.
Also much less problems!!😊 cheers 🍻
Great job! I just bought a CF5 and setup it up. I got it with the manifold as well and cooling coil. I am very excited about the next posts to really see how to maximize my investment. I brew Kolsch 6 times a year and 6 other brews that interest me. Cleaning it was a breeze. I will pump directly from kettle into fermenter and use the cooling coil to cool wort to yeast temp. My kettle has the spike steam hat to keep moisture down while I brew inside. Getting everything dialed in has been a challenge dealing with losses in tubing, values, pumps etc. I am pumped to see the next posts,
Congrats!! Would love to hear about the steam lid. Wanna dm me on instagram @rgrcraft_ryan ?
@@RGRCraft The steam kid fit great on Gas-One kettle during entire brew cycle doing exactly what it was supposed to do. But during CIP it leaked like a sub with open windows. The lid has a flat lip while the kettle is rounded. So I reached out to Spike and they said I could get 15% one of their kettles. Not exactly what I wanted so I am trying a little keg lube on flat lip to see if that helps. I even tried using the spike unitank lid clamp but it was to short to go around kettle and clamp shut. Spike does not sell the clamp so I can't order one for a larger pot to try.
@@jonmccombs1711 what about trying one of their fermenter lid gaskets?
@@RGRCraft great suggestion it fit the steam and should be better than metal on metal. I will order one and get back to you. Thanks again!
Not too filling, drink 3-4, ok with dinner??
sure, no problem. 😂😂😂
Hoss your pour skills are enough to make a man thirsty.
9.3 😳🤤
Which of these DIPAs is your style? Which do you just HAVE to try?
Love a good black IPA. We made a Black DIPA with chinook, sim cod and cascade and it was glorious. I wish we’d reviewed it. Great vid, you find some right beauties at local bottle shops.
I'm so happy that we get this in Sweden december every year. Enjoying one right now. Where did you film this? You live beautifully!
Back yard here in Colorado! thank you and Cheers!
Just found your channel. I really like how you're comparing the single isolate between different yeast companies. Let me know know, if you want the original Voss. Stay safe!
Thank you! Would love some original. lemme know how to contact you
I was given a Picobrew Model C for Christmas 2 years ago and like an idiot, I did not purchase any picopaks. Now I can't find a picopak for sale. If I was to use it as a Manual brewer, would I only need brew bags aside from ingredients and a recipe? Thanks.
Correct. check out picobrewers groups on facebook. Some are 3D printing vessels to help with this
@@RGRCraft Thanks for the reply!
