Thanks for watching! How does your dog do at the vet? Did you learn anything from this video?
Yes, Chirag Patel's bucket game - all 3 parts and pedicure please by Susan Garrett. Also got my fearful Dobe (100lbs and not fat) used to a hound of the Baskervilles muzzle to help build his confidence. I had to get incredibly good at reading his body language as it was so subtle even for me. Susan Garrett's TEMP video and Kikopup's calming signals video helped a lot. Any kind of Nose Work helps build their confidence too. Several courses and if interested in competing, Baebae's training - she's actually a judge. Sara Ondrako has an awesome video on how to make a snuffle mat with a pocket. My one Dobe will leave his lunch in his bowl. He has to have it in his snuffle mat. Hope that helps.
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Great tips! I'm actually really curious about that one you mentioned about turning a pocket into a snuffle mat. I'll have to look that up. Thanks! ❤️💕
@@SomeMinorDogTraining yes, great craft even the kids can help with. Great fundraiser for shelters too. The only thing if you have a dog that likes to eat fabric, you'll want to supervise and pick up the mat once everything is gone. My guys don't bother it after the treats are gone. I also tie a double knot which prevents them from falling apart in the wash. Hound Hugger also has Free diy snuffle balls too. Hope that helps.
This is awesome! Out of the mouths of babes - this is easy! Love that there was no need for treats too. This is one of the few places I don't use treats as the eventual reward is going through the door - it's a self rewarding behavior. Will fwd to my students as this shows even kids can prevent their dog from rushing through a doorway. I usually have them practice on an inside door first - bathroom, bedroom, etc. before attempting an outside door - and of course not when they really have to eliminate. Will incorporate the line as well. Thank you for this!
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch, and for your kind words! I love the idea of using bathroom doors first. It makes it safe, even if the dog rushes forward. Personally, I'll also make time to simply stand at the front door and just watch everything outside. This removes the novelty of the outside world for the dog, so they don't feel the need to get outside so badly (they've seen the outside so much that it's not a big deal anymore).
Thanks for watching! Do you have a nervous or fearful dog? Do you practice informed consent? Keep in mind that this is not something that's necessary for all dogs. Caprica is a very special case. But pay attention to their body language, and listen to what they're trying to tell you. ❤️💕
Thanks for watching! How is your journey going with your behavioral training?
N.B.: Would it be possible to address unwanted jumping at people and (older) puppy biting? Thanks again!
Great suggestion! I'll definitely do that. Thanks, and thanks for watching! ❤️💕
Thank you very much and please keep up the good work! Greetings from Europe!
Thank YOU for your kind words and support! ❤️💕
Thank you for this video! I have a 5 month old chihuahua and for some reason he’s terrified of the leash, I’ll definitely try this at home.

any suggestions as to how to desensitize a dog to windshield wipers? He freaks out when they have to be on.
Is it only when you're in the car, or is it any time, even when he's outside the car?
Very useful method and well demonstrated. Works on my border collie. Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! I'm glad you and your puppy were able to get something out of it. ❤️💕
Thanks for watching! How is your dog doing with the recall? Is your dog treat motivated?
Just found your channel, super content so subscribed in an instant. Recently took over walking a dog that basically had zero training. Recall work is a must, he loves treats but belly is a bit upset so will use this method. Feeling grateful for these wholesome tips, thanks for sharing knowledge!
@@e.thereal thank you so much for watching, and for your kind words and support! I'm so happy to hear you found it helpful. Good luck with your pup, and I know he's going to be great because he has a dedicated person in his corner (you)! Keep up the great work! ❤️💕
Thanks for watching! Were you able to learn anything from this? How is your dog doing with #LeaveIt?
I like your style! I taught special ed. for many years. You are right, all animals learn in similar ways! I hope your channel grows because you have valuable information to share!
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment! I really appreciate your support! ❤️💕

They get quite worn out when less distance but regularly changing direction. Must require more concentration.
I always tell my clients that we must keep in mind that a dog's natural walking pace is MUCH faster than ours. So forcing them to slow down to our pace is quite the mental and physical exercise. We can experience the same thing if we try to walk in slow motion for a long distance; our calves and thighs will eventually start to burn. That's why structured walks like this are much better exercise than a dog simply running in the yard.
Thanks for watching! How is your dog doing on the walk? Did you learn anything from this video?
Taking it slowly for gradual results but without the stress or long term negatives for the dog 👍🏼
Perfect! Dog training is a marathon, not a sprint. So just keep at it, and things will work out. The fact that you are here lets me know that you're a loving, dedicated, responsible dog owner, and your pup is lucky to have you. ❤️💕
Great video, I hope people take this to heart because it's absolutely true. I've been practicing a ton in the house and slowly move farther and farther outside and it's working really well
Thanks for watching and commenting! It sounds like you and your pup are on the right track! Keep up the good work! ❤️💕
So true! My 9 month olde Australian shepherd is so excitable around distractions. He walks nicely on a loose leash, a pretty fair heel....but all bets are off around people or dogs. He is so friendly and just wants to run and kiss and jump and play. Working on slowly acclimating him to closer and closer distractions. We do a fair amount of our training inside and also in our enclosed large yard. Slowly but surely. I'm one of the viewers who didn't drop off during that video! Thank you for all your videos. Always so helpful.
Thank you so much for taking the time to watch and comment, and for finishing the other video! I really appreciate your support. It sounds like you're doing everything right. One thing that has worked really well with Buddy (the dog in this video) is clicker training. Personally, I don't use clickers with a lot of dogs (no reason except that I don't like carrying one haha), but it's really helped his owners bridge that communication gap to make him more focused and responsive. It might be worth a shot.
Yes! Yes! Yes! Starting inside, I have found with my puppies, is THE way to go. Thank you for a totally common sense approach to training our dogs!!!!
Thank you so much for watching and commenting! And it's unfair to the dog to expect perfection outside when they've barely learned the behavior inside.
Thanks for watching! How is your dog doing inside the house? To see the video I'm referring to in this (5 Tips To Help With Your Reactive Dog), click here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6Jl2MmBqZnAeKw.html
Really liked the demo of how to put on the slip leash CORRECTLY! It was very helpful in my understanding why the leash worked SOMETIMES and confused the dog at other times. Very helpful information - thank you.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm glad you were able to get something out of it. Yeah, the slip lead is a great communication tool, but it does have a proper way to fit it. I'm happy to hear that you found this helpful in that. ❤️💕
Great video. Missed the commercial and most of the game but I see how the people got the dog wound up and left him that way.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I don't think you missed out on much with the game haha. Honestly, I do feel like the commercials aren't what they used to be. They used to be special, as if you knew just watching that they were made specifically for a special event. Now they just seem like normal commercials. But maybe I'm just reading too much into it haha
This video provides a great foundation for preventing/eliminating reactivity issues. I certainly wish "5 Tips for Success" had been available to me for helping with dealing with it back when I had dog reactivity problems with our first dog!
Thank you so much! These are just a few things we can do. There are counterconditioning activities that we're going to go through, but these 5 things are going to help us with that. I really appreciate your support for me and this channel. It means a lot. Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. ❤️💕
Thanks for watching! Were you able to get anything out of it? Have you already been using these techniques. Do you have any others that aren't on the list?
Slip lead is just a choke chain made of rope.
Correct. There are slip COLLARS, as well, which are just slip leads without the long handle, so they're literally the exact same thing as the choke chain. But, regardless, you are correct. I think a big difference, however, is that the slip lead doesn't slide down the dogs neck.
Depending on the dog's posture and the fur texture, both sometimes do and don't slide. The main difference is that the chain makes a noise when it tightens which is helpful to the dog. Chains also don't need to be washed, don't wear out, and carry a negative stigma @@SomeMinorDogTraining
@@Camphorous very well said, and very good points. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. ❤️💕
No it is not. A choke chain goes around the throat..
@@user-vy6xw5lb5l to be fair, for maximum efficiency, the choke chain should be positioned just like the slip leash (as close to the ears as possible). Just like with the slip leash, the choke chain isn't designed to have the dog in front of you, but rather beside or behind you.
Remarkable!!! A brilliant analysis that combines a fine example of an "explication du text" with a clear and concise lesson about the proper, healthy approach to dog /human relationships. BRAVO!!!!!
Thank you so much! I can't tell you how much that means to me, especially since this was my first "reaction" video. Thank you! ❤️💕
What are your thoughts on the commercial, or this reaction video?
I LOVE the "dumb it down" concept for review/remediation when our 3 D's are slipping!!!
Thank you! Even with dogs that have been practicing for years and are great at a certain behavior, it can help to go back and just keep it fresh in their minds. ❤️💕
Thanks for watching! Which "D" are you working on with your dog right now? Which one are you having difficulty with?
I use a cheap leash for puppies. I see it as umbilical cord and constantly have the leash in my hand or near me. This way I have total control and can notice every sign my puppy shows. I don't let my puppy run around freely. I started doing this in the 1980's, when I had a Rottweiler puppy and several small children. Potty training went so perfectly well, that I did this with all my other puppies and also worth my current puppy. With 17 weeks I start letting my puppy run free a little, but I keep him supervised when he goes about freely. Also leash training is so much easier if you have your puppy on the leash at home also. Staying together 24/7 for the first months, helps the bonding experience. Recall works perfectly outside as well, when my puppy is allowed to explore a field or grass areas when going on adventure walks together.
Very well said! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It's such a valuable and simple thing, but so many people don't even think of it as a possibility.
This is the first, most complete discussion of the concept of foraging and how it can benefit the average dog owner experience. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate all of your comments and support. I'm glad you were able to get something out of it. ❤️💕
I don't throw treats grass but I use puzzle toys and sniff pads for my dogs. They enjoy it very much.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! Personally, I absolutely LOVE watching dogs enjoy foraging. ❤️💕
Thanks for watching! Do you have any other ideas for adding FORAGING to your dog's life? Does your dog enjoy it? How often do you do it?
That's the first time I've seen anyone explain how and why to do it properly. Excellent video
