Great rummage through the crockery tubs Andrea, it sounded a bit like ASMR as you were very careful handling it all. :) Cheers.

That poor lady selling the Wedgwood for £2 when it’s worth £40….
@andreahills7410 күн бұрын
There was absolutely nothing stopping her from selling it online herself, but she wanted shot of it and chose to price it low at a car boot sale. I don’t think she’s a ‘poor woman’. She was very happy with the sale. I’m now going to clean it up and spend time researching it, photographing it, listing it and finding a new owner for it. Someone who will be looking for just that vase and who will love it.. someone who would not have been at that car boot sale. Also I bought it very late in the day… if I hadn’t bought it she may not have sold it at all and would have gone home with it again.
@djme-12310 күн бұрын
@@andreahills74 Hi Andrea. I understand how it all works, I suppose my question is would this lady still have been quite so happy to sell that vase for £2 if she realised it’s potential £40 value? Unlikely. She was happy to sell it probably on the basis she thought it was worth £5-10. I see this all the time at car boot sales. I can’t believe people sell items for £1-£2 happy in the knowledge that these things are getting flipped at 10, 20, 30 x the price paid. Last week on You Tube there was a pair of boots sold at a car boot for £1 and the boots were listed at £185? I can see now why our local charity shop now has a full time volunteer listing better items on EBay. The penny has dropped…

The yellow vase you passed on at 2:45 is mid century Italian, made by Nuovo Rinascimento - contemporary of Bitossi. Always buy the stuff with 'italy' scrawled on the base like that, most of the time you can charge whatever you like (I do LOL)

@@daveweeks4748 yep, probably the mould number. There were numerous factories and most of them didn't sign much more than that black scrawl. Anytime you see it, grab it! I identified this one via Google Lens, which is a godsend for stuff like this. Like fat lava and scandi glass, there's so much out there, remembering it all is near impossible!
