without doubt John. Even though the movie was a disaster, the music to me rescues it. The soundtrack is easily the best thing about the film.

although the movie has a behind the scenes story that in of itself would be worthy of it's own film (a story which includes Michael Cimino's obsessive behavior about details, taking 'going over budget' to a new level and a exploded horse) and think that the cinematic version of the film still feels like it runs forever...I will always praise Heavens Gate for it's amazing cinematography, great music and awesome performances, especially from the always amazingly awesome Christopher Walken.

The movie got panned from the capitalist media because of its class war content. But this sad music brings tears to my eyes, knowing how the immigrants from Eastern Europe will be all killed by the rich landowners. Too strong a message for the regular media, so they tried to destroy this magnificant piece of work. The Johnson County war was all too real. Screwww the rich!

@larry robinson Thanks for post- Iam doing research on class war in Gilded Age. Very ugly stuff. The story of the Western Federation of Miners needs telling, but will not be. Too embarassing to capitalist class. I dare you to read "Labor's Untold Story". But beware: It will change your life.
@williaminus65454 жыл бұрын
@larry robinson I don't think they ever will. Imagine a movie about Big Bill Haywood or the IWWW. You could put $100 million into making it, make it great in all the spots in the scenic West, and it would still get panned and shown only briefly. Have you seen Matewan (West Va strike). I was born in Southern Ohio - near there. kzread.info/head/PLqEdPKbiJxZO082nIZWWkgiWo9dicQEsq. The great Minnesota Teamsters' strike was depicted somewhat in Hoffa with Jack Nicolson. Other stories not told are the TWO greater San Francisco general strikes, 1901and 1934. I am writing about these year by year in a book about how Wall Street is affected. Big project. Each year has one or more untold stories needing telling. Nice to chart with you.

Agree with some. Here are my favorite 10 western films: 1) Red River 2) Shane 3) High Noon 4) Little Big Man 5) Destry Rides Again 6) Duel In The Sun 7) Jeremiah Johnson 8) The Magnificent Seven 9) The Outlaw Josie Wales 10) Rio Bravo (love the opening sequence with no dialogue for the first 4-5 minutes) Noticeably, I omitted "The Searchers" because I've always felt there were many better John Wayne movies, although I admit most of his fans really love this movie. Also omitted "Butch Cassidy..."etc., because, for me, it doesn't hold up over the distance of time the way some of the other films I listed do. Several movies were close to the top 10 for me: "The Big Country", "Dodge City"(best barroom brawl), "The Gunfighter", "The Appaloosa", "Winchester 73", etc. etc. etc. I love western movies. Always have!

halbie71 Sure, I started training a week ago, I'm trying to get my mile run to around 10 minutes before I embark in my trek.
@louisz89519 жыл бұрын
louis zegarra I had to replace my old DB Apex with a new bike, I got a DHS 6-50 with disk brakes, my old bike was just destroying the inner tubes because the rim wouldn't hold the tire in place. I'm still training, but I have done most of the route in segments, now I need to put it all together as soon as the weather gets cooler. Coming down from Eastvale to Chino hills is not so bad, it took me about 2 hours, the last 1.5 mile was tough going uphill on Soquel Cayon rd. Once I entered the park is a steep climb of maybe 20-25 degree for about half a mile. That took me another half an hour because I was tired so I was hiking the bike, too steep for me. From there is a slow downhill to the base of Baine rd. I could have gone up to Upper Baine trail by making a right on a trail near the water reservoir tank which right before the descent on Baine rd., but I don't think I'm ready for those drops, especially traveling alone. At the base of Baine rd. there is a sheltered rest area so far so good, the real tough part is ahead if you take the telegraph rd. is a steep climb with many small hills some at least 30-degree incline. If you take the South Ridge going west is one bad ass climb for over 2 miles. the last hill is the worst, the incline is probably another 25 degree for about 75 yards. Once you get to the top you can see four-corners at the base. From there going to the Brea entrance is a piece of cake. From there to my son's place is another 2 hours. That is the latest.
