Might seem unrelated but to those paying attention to society in general and not just games of our youth I would say this is directly related to the slipping of society. Starting with moral degradation. Kids were raised by slack parents that wanted more to spoil or befriend them. Kids grow up entitled and those have kids with even worse upbringing. A lazy generation that has no creativity and constantly resorts back to the older days of smarter people with far more determination.

I think the biggest issue is the useless Open World nowadays. A lot of people are racing in GTA Online and there it works great and makes sense. But instead of trying to copy that the big franchises should try to go with possibilities GTA does not have, for example not having tracks that are based on the Open World and therefore have restrictions but building separate tracks again like in the old days, where every race track is unique with a completely different landscape and weather/season and a sophisticated career system (I'm thinking like NFS 4 High Stakes). I tried Hot Pursuit Remastered recently because I hoped it was similar to the classic ones but it was sooo boring. I mean the racing itself was okay but it was way to easy to get new cars so I didn't care for the progress.

I remember seeing something on Reddit somebody that worked for rockstar said the reason we have not or ever will see another midnight club is because rockstar treated the midnight club crew like total crap to the point to where they walked out and took the files with them refusing to ever have anything to do with rockstar again.

Real racing game? Play Grand Prix Legends from the early 90's. It's an actual simulator for cars, if you can call them that at the time. No one coming to save you..

I expected a mention of MSX FM the radio station in GTA 3 as it goes insanely hard and single handedly uplifts the atmosphere and chaotic nature of GTA 3. Also kinda sad you didn’t play Max Payne 1 on PC as the game is very difficult and without a mouse, playing it on controller seems like a nightmare. The PS2 port also has some issues in general, the port on steam is honestly quite terrible and requires a patch and even then can still crash. Max Payne 1 and 2 are also supposed to be played with the quicksave (F5 to quicksave and F9 to load, abusing it can make the game boring so I save after most big fights) and not using it single handedly tanked your experience and opinion of the games. I hope you see this, maybe it might make you go back to those games one day

I really thought u we’re gonna do a video on LA noire..but midnight club? I guess they were pioneers in the open world racing that need for speed and everyone else took but racing simulators just blows it out the park (grid was something else though)

The music choice for this video is amongst the best I ever heard. You truly captured everything that made that era the pinnacle of racing games. The approach you took as well as the rhythm hooked me up instantly. I'm happy to see that all is not lost yet, the crowd demands a comeback of the true racing experience. Midnight Club, Burnout, Need for speed, those names deserve so much more. Thanks for that nostalgic ride and keep up the good work!

14:44 dirt rally 2.0 is one of the most perfect examples of what a driving game should feel like in modern day. Its one of the few games that has believable driving physics all around.

Burnout paradise was the first game I played online. I have such formative memories of playing it online as a young teenager. Also I have great memories of playing revenge and takedown with my dad.

I think this applies to recent racing games, new ones seem to lost its reason as a racing games which is being fun to play. They focus more on the "realism" and graphics which a good thing but fall quite short when the game wasn't even fun to begin with, i keep getting myself coming back to Dirt rally 2.0 because it felt fun and rewarding to drive

You're showing your age, or lack thereof to be having this debate. If you're going with Forza games and talking about declines, you can't be starting with Horizon as the best in the series - that's exactly where the decline started! The OG Forza games on the OG XBox was the peak of the franchise, more notably Forza Motorsport 3. No mention of Sega Rally, which was fantastic and a very close port of the arcade. Daytona 2 anyone? Makes me laugh that PlayStation fanatics are making videos now on the decline of gaming genres - you do realise the deception that led you all to that market forced SEGA out and led to this mess right? SEGA were the only ones innovating and moving technology and ideas forward for how we've enjoyed games for the past two decades. All Sony did was buy up a load of development studios and plagiarised alot of SEGA's ideas, they did nothing to innovate and therefore it wasn't a case of if the market would stagnate and become stale, it was a matter of when. This is a bed you all made for yourselves and could literally make a video about every gaming genre in the same vein.

Midnight Club was okay but the graphics were always lacking and I just never found the games to be that fun 🤷♂️ to me there's a reason it disappeared it was just never ad good as other racing games. Hell the Dirt series blows all of these out of the water.

Everybody has opinions but i would rank Bully 10/10 because relate to a lot of the stuff when it comes down to its high jinks, atmosphere and its music and as for the atmosphere and contrast it does radiate that gloomy tone and if you play the scholarship edition its more vibrant.

I remember it was 2011 I was 7 I've been in and out of hospital and my mother dragged me to Supervalue(Supermarket chain in Ireland) parking lot and there was a guy in a honda civic Mam went over to him and came back with a big bag with a Ps2 Two Controllers and lots of games including colin mcrae rally I played the absolute shite out of it I'd say I barely came out of my room for a year😂 along with gran turismo 4 of course Memories like that you can't beat I've just done my leaving cert and I'm playing dirt 2.0 and loving life😂 still have my ps2

No sense of progression any more, everything is online focused and offline neglected and full of micro transactions. These 3 things have ruined gaming in general.

Ive never played a gran turismo game but one thing i axtually really like ocer forza is all rhe variations of one platform. A civic hatch is way different than a sedan imo, and the fact they even had the sedan is amazing, most games dont really have compact sedans
