No way would i have ERP with a chatbot...i prefer the intimacy of a real person who you can actually touch and communicate with. I dont think having long term relationships with AI will really help people, it will make engaging with others more difficult.

Ultimately, the answer to the question why he can't show anything is because of the JavaScript decision and losing the guy who built it in JavaScript. The videos that we saw were all single-player mockups and tech demos, and that's all we saw for a very long time, but you can't login to those and play with other members of the team. I wouldn't be surprised if they still didn't know what networking solution they were going to use even years later. It sounds like they pushed that ball down the field for years. Networking is hard. This thing didn't have a chance when, after the first year, they weren't able to release any multiplayer footage. If they continued to develop everything as a single-player design just to have the modules built and then planned to go back later and add the networking... it doesn't work that way. For a project of this scope, you must develop the network layer first and build everything on top of that. That's likely why he started working on KoE: the single-player, offline components could be put together more easily. Release that, hope that it generates more money to hire a couple of good engineers that might rescue the net code so he didn't have to deal with it.

If I were over a project built in Unreal Engine (C++ language or Blueprints) or Unity (C# language) and a programmer on my team suggested using JavaScript for anything other than parts of the website, I would've fired him. The fact that someone would do that indicates that they're not "really good" at that point. It's the equivalent of saying we need to cook a turkey and choosing to roast it in small pieces in a toaster rather than cook it correctly in an oven.

As an old Dark Age of Camelot player I had so much hope for this and backed it at a fairly high backing but learned never trust Mark Jacobs! I won't play anything he is attached to. From one old DAoC player to another you want that old nostalgia of DAoC in a 2.0 kinda deal look up Ashes of Creation, it's starting alpha 2 in October probably year from coming out but the DAoC influence is significant. Very large community too has a 100,000+ A2 keys holders.

The game will do fine if it is fun. If it becomes unfun later due to power disparity gained from microtransactions, it will die. But it has every possibility to be alive, if only for a short time.

Clash Royale did something similar in 2023 with ramping up P2W. Similar circumstances too, everyone knew scumminess was a long time coming and there isn't anything similar on the market. The community expectedly went ballistic and the game's revenue has taken a huge hit since and it's making much less.

bought it, played 20 minutes, and felt done with the game. its not really a game, more like a minigame, like a 2 coop missions that are basicly the same but with bugs or robots as enemies to chose... theres nothing more to it, it doesnt feel like playing a game, felt like testing a beta... and now I see this... its end of july 2024, anyone would recomend me to try it again (if still works in my country)? did they finished it already? or sony killed it for good?

I’m fascinated by this cultural zeitgeist to find ‘dirt’ on high profile influencers from like 10+ years ago, before they had such an audience, and presenting it in the light of what is acceptable in 2024. It ignores literally the first rules of analysing a ‘source’- present it in context… and that includes the context of what was acceptable at the time. For clarity, I’m not talking about the blatant predatory behaviours conversation; digging back many years to find a pattern is important there; I’m talking the ‘you said bad word (in 2014)’ stuff.

I originally backed this for $5k(!) but asked for and received an almost total refund (I left like $300 in there for a much lower backing level). At this point I'm just chalking that up as a loss as even if they ever release the game, I'm no longer interested. I only found this video because a person and I were reminiscing about OG DAoC and I wondered what the status of CU is.

let me give some data for a real huge AAA game, red dead redemption 2 cost around 200 millions, had around 1600 people working on it and took 8 years to be made (and wasnt from scratch since its a secuel). now a guy no one knows and who never done anything in the sector tells you he can do it in 2 years for bit more than1 million. and people just give him money, 8 or more times what he asked for... well he's obviously a scammer, but people who send money his way are just retarded

Lineage 3? More like New World 2 :D. Not sure why they basically took every bad aspect from a failure game like New World (Progression, classes, crafting, upgrading, pvp system). So like took all bad stuff from a fail game instead of implementing stuff from their best game like Lineage 2 (c4-c6). Game is doomed, not even talking about p2w stuff.
