The answer is to make a great backpack that also doubles as a chair
@@MultiThunder1234 Yes! So much yes!
Hang on to that pack, gonna be worth something someday!
First $500 gets it 🤣
I use the eno skyloft for backpacking on the Appalachian trail, its perfect for me
To reduce weight, I usually leave my workout dumbbells at home. I can save at least 40lbs that way. Instead, I just find some big rocks or logs to... pump... (clap)... me up.
Smart move 🤣
Mark - what kind of weather are you dealing w/there ? We just returned from a multi-week trip in SC & Ga. and it was brutally hot until we got to the Mts at the end. (@ the end of the Foothills Trail) we needed some ice packs, UL be damned.
Michigan heat and humidity. Nights get down to the mid 50s at the lowest most night. Often it only gets down in the 60s.
Ey nice tarp & bivy setup. I hope it works out well. I love Larabars lol.
I will showing the bivy set up on my next video. 🤙
I like it. I have some UL gear i just need to try to go ultralight. I still like comfort too much i guess 😂
Nothing wrong with that! 😁🤙
I have 3 separate back injuries and problems with my neck and shoulder.. whether I'm travelling on my adventure, bike by car by canoe by mountain bike or just hiking, I will never head outdoors without bringing one or two options for sitting on. Every item has to have multiple uses . Gel seat pad on the motorcycle or canoe, can do double duty as a sit pad, when off the bike or outside of the canoe . A foam sit pad for hiking comes in handy sometimes specially for kneeling on But even with a sit pad packed I will always bring the chair when possible. Mine is a high back with a neck rest. And anytime I don't have the chair I bring a hammock . The hammock can be used as a chair.. The Hamic is also asleep system and a shelter But I also have tents that I'll use for shelters So if I'm bringing a tent, whether it be a one person or the four person then I'll bring either the chair or the hammock not usually both unless I'm Car camping. Bottom line.. Something comfortable to sit in is an absolute must if your nursing old injuries it's definitely worth the weight if it prevents your body from being too crippled up to move.. then someplace comfortable to sit and a comfortable sleep system becomes your ultimate survival gear.
No way,40.00 that's 10.00 each wow.😮
Pumice? Coral? Ceramic? Limestone? I’m guessing unglazed terracotta chunks would work the same
I'm not sure what kind of stone it is. The etsy store does not say either. I still use these (in fact, I just packed them last night for this weekend) and they work great.
Been spending a lot of time lately thinking I should probably return to more trails and stop seeking novelty all the time. This was perfect timing!
@@HikeCalifornia glad the timing was good! 🤙
I didnt know how much I loved my chair until I went backpacking without one. Now I think I worship the chair.
Man melting @ 5:29
Legit. That was 100% sweat. It felt like good southern humidity on this trip.
@TrailandBackAgain man I got to experience the western dry heat a few years ago and it was literal heaven. 90 degrees feels like 65 degrees when the humidity is gone lmao
@@zakkmiller8242 someday i will experience that. Until then…🫠
The almighty youtube algorithm has blessed you today sir, I am now sub'd 😎
@@zakkmiller8242 🤣 Good to have you!
I pretty much go to the same place all year round. I don't have the time or resources for multiday trips so it's nice to have something close. I like seeing the change in seasons. Just getting outside is good enough for me. I agree on all the points. Every trip is like a shakedown trip for me. Inatead of planning 2-3 big trips a year, I just take off when I feel like it. In a way, kind of fast tracking backpacking experience. I get to dial in gear sooner by going so often.
@@rodoutdoors I love it. I used to only want to plan “bigger” feeling trips, but have learned to appreciate the short and simple trips. A lot of this, like you, is determined by time and resources. I am grateful I have settled into the beauty around me. But, I still have some big trip aspirations…nothing like a thru hike, but 1-2 week trips out West. Cheers!
I'll be honest I have had a 'go to' trail, or trails, my entire life. I moved at the beginning of the year & it has been pretty amazing seeing the trail in its various seasons. (And it also borders a river so no water issues)...
Do you have good trails near your new location?
Very timely for me, I've been thinking about this lately. Thanks!
Nice! I'm glad it was good timing for you. cheers!
Thanks for sharing, Thumbs 👍🏻
You bet! thanks for stopping by!
Ive been hiking to the same wild spot every month or so for 3 years now. Its convenient and almost unbeatable. 😊
That is great! I have a spot I use a lot for overnight trips an hour from my house. Not a lot of hiking involved, but a great place to rest and enjoy the outdoors.
Congratulations to the winner
Congratulations! Now, back to the GAW video to add to my cart! Lol.
Neat colors. Hmm
@@MiscMitz The green is pretty awesome I must say. 🤙😁
🎉🎉🎉 Congrats Xloutdoorsman!
I have the REI chair, the swivel option with the wider feet might be worth the extra weight?
I like how quick and easy it sets up in 1 piece
I just broke my knock off cheapo chair i had been using. I am just inder 300 pounds and having a chair i am not afraid is anout to break and stick me in the leg is an excellent feature. If i don't win i will likely buy one.
That chair is quite amazing, actually. Love the feet! For someone who can't sit still and prefers to be moving, that swivel is definitely the selling point for me. Thank you for sharing... most definitely a chair to keep me moving!
Keep in mind this chair has a 300lb weight limit. As someone who is 6’5 and a biscuit away from 300lb, I really appreciate any company that caters to the big and tall
Well done review, as usual. I like the ease of set-up and that the legs tend not to dig into the ground.
I like the swiveling feature and the feet on the legs so they don’t sink in.
The ease of opening and stowing does it for me. I don’t mind the extra weight to save the hassle of getting to sit in it! Thanks for sharing!
Love that the feet don't dig into the ground and a sturdy, comfortable chair is more important to me than weight. Would be a great chair for fishing, star gazing, 4th of July parties, or as an extra seat for grandma at Christmas... I'd prob have to help her out of it though haha.
On another review they said that the back can be higher or lower and that's why it is two sections.
Just set it back up and that would not work at all. Even loose the fabric is hitting the frame when only one length is pulled out.
@@TrailandBackAgain thanks for checking
I love that the chair swivels. Thanks for sharing it.
I am not ultralight but that looks more stable than the other chairs I see. Thanks for the opportunity to win
TY Sir ! The stability is a game changer...I hate tipping out of a camp chair....Just sayin'...
Those little round thingys are "stop dots" and yes, that's a technical term. The swivel is the best!
The swivel does it for me. Oh, and that it doesn't have to be separated to pack away. Pretty sweet little chair!
I think all your plusses and minuses are totally right on. But I think something that would REALLLY cause me to ignore the added weight is if I can rock back and forth. I wanted to get the rocking bars for the Helinox, but they don't work for the Chair Zero (which I have). If I had this chair, that would be the bigger reason to use it. A secondary reason is that it seems easy to pop open. I envy other hikers that have tripod chairs that they can pop out on a break (and pop back in their pack). Can't easily do that with a Helinox, So that's 2 features that would make the weight worth it for me. And I'm a FIB... and I have spoken. 😃
Disclaimer…it doesn’t actually rock. It just naturally seems to sit a bit more reclined.
I really like the way this chair swivels. Looks very comfortable. Thanks for the giveaway! 🦉
It is tempting to complain about the weight but sometimes ease of use trump's ounces.
Looks like that would be great for some weekend trips with my boys.
I would like to use this chair for fishing. Good luck to everyone.
I live now easily that deploys! I'm not an ultralight hiker so I don't mind the wait. I need that chair. If i don't win, i may need to buy it. 😆
I went to school with a Justin Case
🤣
Nice video. Mine is similar. Split into two bags. Ditty bag has mostly electronics and things I don't need right away like earplugs or my toothbrush. Then there's a ziplock that's more accessible that has hygiene and first aid related stuff. Bug net, electrolytes, cortizone, leukotape, etc.
Thanks! Your set up sounds perfect. 👍🍻
what happened to the cover for the interior light? Yep, Moms notice those things lol
Fell off years ago while trying to get something out from the back. 🤷♂️
That is still the sexiest bag I've ever seen.
With the modifications, yes 🤣🍻
what IS the solids? Is that the mushroom?
Sorry for the delay. I think it is the coconut portions of the mix.
I found recently that pre-dissolving my instant coffee in 1-2oz of COLD water allows it to dissolve fully and doesn't taste burnt after adding hot water. Maybe that'll help with the milk solids. Nice pipe there!
I will try this!
I like it. One of the legs could be used as a splint for snake bite or injury
