Cave Canem is a nonprofit organization committed to cultivating the artistic and professional growth of Black poets.

Founded in 1996 by Toi Derricotte and Cornelius Eady, Cave Canem cultivates Black poets across the diaspora to enrich the field by facilitating a nurturing space to learn, experiment, create, and present. Cave Canem develops thoughtful audiences for Black voices that have worked and are working in the craft of poetry.

    Oh these two women are amazing to me! Congrats to Tina Chang on Brooklyn Poet Laureate-ship a few years ago. That's awesome! I got into two Cave Canem poetry workshops and I even wrote a letter in support of Cave Canem in 2015.
