what about this kit justifies its price? game of bricks kit looks exactly the same.
Buildability and fit are very important for beginner's kits. You don't want something with warped parts, lots of flash, surface irregularities, badly mating surfaces, or thick sprue gates. Nor do you want something with a huge part count. You want something with parts you can cut off the sprues easily and glue together with a minimum of fuss. And lastly, a beginner should start small and master the arts of assembly and finish. For this reason, I would suggest newer 1/72 aircraft or armour kits as better options for the beginner. Obviously, you also have to consider subject preference as well--some people prefer cars, ships, spaceships or even dinosaurs to planes and armour. Airfix, Revell and Hasegawa kits are all good choices apart from Tamiya, particularly their more modern offerings. They are usually cheaper than Tamiya kits and of comparable quality. As a further suggestion for tools, sanding sticks are a must to clean up parts and deal with seams.
Real nice and unique kits. I have to give them a try.
David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA (Wednesday, 17 July, 2024) Thank you for a look ahead. The Curtiss P-40B Warhawk USAAF Fighter certainly has its place in history, so it is befitting to have a detailed, quality kit represent those who flew the actual warbird. You mention the P-40N, wondering as to its likelihood of seeing a kit of one. If I recall correctly, this was the variant that the War Department belatedly had augmented with a turbo-supercharger, enabling it to ascend beyond 6,000 metres (20,000 ft) in altitude to engage the enemy on an even footing (the same injustice that had befallen the Bell P-39 Airacobra USAAF Fighter). I just saw from ModelFun channel this reference: “P-40 N Warhawk 1:32 FULL BUILD Burma Banshee Trumpeter 02212”. By now, you likely have seen this kit, as well as the Great Wall Hobbies 1:32nd-scale replica of the Curtiss P-40B Warhawk USAAF Fighter, famous as the aircraft of the “Flying Tigers” (the 1st American Volunteer Group [AVG] of the Republic of China Air Force) of Gen. Claire L. Chennault, Col. Robert L. Scott (who documented his experiences in God Is My Co-pilot [New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons, Publisher, 1943; Gen. Chennault wrote the foreword]), Major Gregory “Pappy” Boyington, later renowned for USMC fighter squadron VMF-214 (“Black Sheep”) flying Chance Vought F4U-1 Corsair USMC Fighters, amongst numerous others. It would not surprise me if you had built both. If so, please let ud know how things went. I also would like to learn how the two kits compare and contrast. Since they essentially are the same aircraft, I would expect their overall shape to closely match. I infer from your accent that you are a shopkeeper Down Undah (as I hear you lot phrase it). As one who long has lacked the means for travel (especially anything extensive), I like to ask folk I encounter in person or online how things are in your area? From all I have seen on the televised news and discussion programmes, given your country’s position of prominence in the region, China’s ruler has kept rather busy Prime Minister Anthony Albanese (Australian Labor Party) and the executive government (if I understand correctly all that).
The concept of all this paper panzers and planes etc leaves me cold. I'm guessing I'm not alone given the sudden drop in prices. The kits don't look that bad, so maybe the company needs to pivot to real subjects for at least part of their range. If they could offer the same quality and price on real prototype subjects, they could do well.
Max love you guys but fix your shipping in Australia you used to do free over $100 now no free shipping very disappointing.
Have built several model collect kits and love them great detail go together very well other companies could look at their packaging good prices. Only wish they would get rid of the rubber tracks
F/A-18B 2 seater and from 2 OCU SQN not 76 SQN. 76 SQN are Hawk 127
Looks like fun to build!
Will never understand why Bachmann can't update their HO line to look that nice. One of the reasons I don't buy from them.
#1 adam fan right here!
Tip #1: buy this from us Tip #2: buy this from us Tip #3: buy this from us
1/24 would have been a good start.
1:18 don’t want it too big
What is the best method for attaching the exhaust hose? The exhaust port isn't staying on the hose, and the hose itself isn't staying on the booth long enough to put the hose clamp on...
Hi Rob, We are happy to see if we can help you fix this :) Might be best to send us an email ([email protected]) with a picture, it sounds as the clamp might be off the collar, they should be pre-attached and might just need screwdriver to tighten it. But easiest to reach out to us directly for and we can confirm :)
@@MetroHobbiesAus Thanks for getting back to me; I have addressed the issue since contacting you. The flue wasn't long enough for where I wanted to position the booth (I needed about another 60-90 cm), and have gotten the relevant new pipe and some sleeves to ensure a snug fit. I'll send you pics of the upgrade if you like.
hello sir and good day to you, is this ship available to buy from your shop, i live in Europe Malta , and how much it cost and shipping. thank Carmel
Sadly we are sold out of this one Carmel :(
Can I check that turps works ok as a thinner for enamel paints like Humbrol?
Yes, turpentine will thin and clean enamel paints. No problem :)
Tamiya have one other range of paints, specifically aimed at their RC range of vehicles, those being specifically for Polycarbonate. What type of paints are those? I think they're usually only in a spray can, as they're aimed at RC vehicles they might be more hard wearing?
They don't say what type they are but I suspect lacquer. You can add a plasticiser to any paint, theoretically, to make it more flexible. I've used SMS 'Flex' with all the brands of lacquer paint brands with great success, both on PC and ABS.
Hi Peter, Tamiya PS paints are a synthetic lacquer that is formulated to bond to polycarbonate and remains flexible once dry. They are not necessarily harder wearing, I've found they are actually a bit softer when fully dried. They are normally painted on the inside of a clear RC body (so it doesn't scratch off)
@@MetroHobbiesAus Way back in the late 70's I built a couple of RC cars, Wild Willy's, I forget what the other one was called. Back then the bodies were just like normal plastic model kit bodies; I have the Fiat Abarth 1000 waiting to be built which has the clear polycarbonate body. Things have changed a lot.
Thanks for this walk-through. I remember from 50 years ago when my father introduced me into plastic modelling, we only had Humbrol Enamel - and I did not know of anything else for decades after that. And when I used an airbrush for my first time (doing all my work with real brushes), I only found that this did not work the way I was used to ... but there was no one to explain to me why not.
Great video, the Tamiya acrylic paints are alcohol based though not water based. I'm tempted to stock the AK paints as I'm looking for a decent brush on solution to stock
Max said that the carrier in Tamiya paints is water soluble, which is correct. Semantics at this juncture though, really. Pro Tip: You can thin Tamiya acrylics with lacquer thinners and they behave just like a lacquer.
@@warwicksworkshop9511 yeah I'm sure he knows his stuff it just sounded a little misleading as some of the others are water based. Yep I already stock the Tamiya lacquer thinners for the acrylics, it slows the drying period
You are correct, look on the Tamiya acrylic jar & you will see a hazard division symbol. This paint thins with methylated spirits and laquer thinner .
Thanks for the easy to understand explanation. By the way, the background music is too loud and distracting!
I realize that this is 3 years old or so, but I have to comment on what was said about tamiya's tracks. Some of the rubber tracks are glue together, like he said. However, some are supposed to be melted together with a hot screwdriver or something similar. If it is a child beginner building the kits, they would need adult supervision for that part.
The MASK intro music
Nice one mate and I been to. Melbourne nice place. thanks from across the ditch👍🇳🇿
Just bought the vegito because it's almost in scale with figuarts, and I ain't dropping 200 on figuarts vegito

I have the VQ Models L4A Grasshopper 46-62 /EP U.S.D Day, 1618mm WS, 5Ch RC I’m new to this and need safe mode what parts do I need and is this unit good for it ??
Hi there! Unfortunately the transmitter shown in this video is currently out of stock at Distributor, with no known ETA . We recommend this one instead: www.metrohobbies.com.au/collections/rc-transmitters-air/products/spektrum-nx7e-7-channel-dsm-x-2-4ghz-transmitter-spmr7100 With a www.metrohobbies.com.au/products/spektrum-ar630-6-channel-as3x-safe-2-4ghz-receiver-spmar630 which has with built-in AS3X and SAFE stabilization If you want more of an explanation about SAFE mode just let us know and we can help you out.
@@MetroHobbiesAus what about the NX6 it’s newer no? Cheaper ?
Up in da club, I am building a track in the VIP section called Sluts and Slots. Its going to be the Ho scale!
Ukraine will win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kinda makes me wish i didn't live in Las Vegas! Nice shop.
do you ship in Qatar?
I cant believe I bought an rc without any experience and it was flying everywhere. I even lost a tire within 5 minutes. Great video btw, would have been better if there is another camera zoomed in the transmitter as you do these movements :)
I noticed that you started over with a fresh nub when you introduced a new tool. I always thought you were supposed to cut with the side cutters and get as close as possible then shave off a little with the hobby knife then finish with some light sanding? Am I doing it wrong? Should I be just picking one of those tools for nub removal?
There's really no one way to do it, just find what works for you! For this video we were trying to highlight to tools use, our Gundam Expert's favourite method is to cut the nub as close as you can with nippers (nothing better than GodHand 🙏) then to sand it down - this video was filmed a while ago, so we'll get an updated version up as soon as we can!
2:25 those Mustangs are Thunderbolts, matey.
it's really hard to get Australian model kits but this one looks really good
Jumping may be “basics” to you but I just wanted to see how the steering works with the wheel on the side of the controller. As someone thinking about getting into the hobby, I’m puzzled why the steering wheel is on the side and not straight on.
Thanks for your feedback! To answer your question, the wheel is on the side because it's ergonomically more comfortable to use the transmitter in your left hand, right index on the trigger, facing forward and turning the wheel left and right with your right hand, your thumb and forefinger. It allows you to comfortably walk, watch and drive your car, and pivot to follow the car. Its not like sitting in the car driving with your feet and hands, you need both hands active to drive the car, as well as hold the transmitter. We'll get our RC Department onto creating a new Steering Basics video ASAP to show this plus everything else you may want to know about steering and RC when you're first getting into the hobby 😄
I need a left handed rc controller. Where can I get one?
This amazing transmitter is able to be used left handed and right handed, easily switched on the fly!
sry mate im into armour
Mustang? odd looking mustang
That’s Horton H. XVIIIA (18A). By the way chaps, waiting awhile on a number of sci-fi kits. Anything coming soon?
Those "mustangs" need to lose some weight.
The coolness factor of that HQ sandman is off the chart!! Been thinking about collecting them
Mustangs?
Do you recommend the 1/350 miniceaft from 2017 parts version? Or go withis larger ones or the newer smaller ones?
The minecraft kit is fantastic! a great option. It really comes down to what you are looking for, the Trumpeter 1/200 scale gives you the WOW factor being so large with all the lights and etch metal parts we well :)
@@MetroHobbiesAus I'm new to modeling, and I have some Tamiya and hasegawa 1/350 WW2 ships (all in boxes haha), so that was why I was curious about the 1/350. But I never heard of minicraft so was curious if they were good or if I should invest in a different size for better experience.
the delta 2!!! 🤯😍🔥💪
Wheres my bloddy VN SS model. Its been 3+years since pre ordering!😫😫😫
I couldn't help but laugh at this guys stupid choice of tools after the blade. A BIG ASS FILE?! HELL NO! Use a sanding stick it gets the job done better and safer for the part. Use 100 or 400 grit for the final touch after the craft blade. After that go to 800 grit, 2000, 3000, then buffer sticks to give a shiny finish. NEVER USE A FILE
Bra your intro too long figured it out before you finish your intro
Thanks a very helpful demo on AK, cheers Liam
this is not usefull ate all i buyed it but i cannot
The Wesser P1003/1 is not something I expected to see in conventional, injection molded kit form! The first I heard of this Paleo-VTOL project was in a 2006 book by Zack Parsons titled, "My Tank Is Fight!" Mr. Parsons devoted an entire chapter to this questionable project in his book, where it was envisioned as a transport for elite troops. I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of these built-up at contests - on their own, and in dioramas - in the not too distant future . . . . 76th Like.
