  Miss Yeung, there is a point missed askiing . After HKID renewal date expired at May 2025 and then back to HK . At HK airport immigration counter, would immigration officer return the old ID card to us for renewal new HKID. if confiscated the old ID card at HK airport immigration counter, how we can bring the old ID card to renewal new card????

  很清楚，是在入境30天內申請換證，唔係講要多少天可以取得新證。如要預約，就在呢30天內預約，當然返港前預約就最好。入境時收了舊證，會畀通知書去申請，到時拎住去申請啦。

  如果過咗明年10月以後先入境香港換新身份證、除咗係入境嘅時候被收回舊證、你仲要攞出世紙證明你喺香港出世香港人身份先可以重新申請身份證, 重點係咁樣你先可以keep住有三粒星香港身份證, 冇三粒星唔可以申請回鄉證,

  It’s not about the ‘Overseas HK Permanent Resident ID.’ It’s the ‘HK Permanent Resident ID’ for Hong Kong residents who are currently living in Hong Kong or overseas.

  @@yiw2587 Do you mean HKID card holders living overseas but not emigrating? If they are just temporarily staying overseas for study or work, meaning their primary residence is still HK, then just renew when they come home. If they have already emigrated, why keep HK citizen status? It's unfair to both their new country and HK.

  @@estherlam1822 You need to understand why you still want a HKID and for what purposes. For instance, you might still have family members and/or connections in Hong Kong that require you to maintain your Hong Kong resident status. Even in the countries to which you’ve immigrated, it might take a few years to be able to get a passport. Everyone has different reasons for retaining their HKID

  @@yiw2587First, I am talking about those who already gained citizen status in another country. Second, I do not see any case in which it is necessary for a relative who would need another relative who is already a foreign citizen to maintain his or her HKID for any purpose.

  The government allowed 5 years for the ID card replacement process and allowed a further 2 years before invaliding the old cards. Why are so many jerks still complaining ? It is a hongkongers' habit to complain about the HK government even after they had immigrated to other countries. But I noticed they tend to be quiet as mice about the problems of their adopted countries.

  香港身份證最大好處就係出入香港可以用 e-channel, 快好多。但係而家科技進步，出入用 facial recognition. Passport 出入唔喺慢好多。咁張身份證有乜用？除非係香港生活就話要身份證姐。我已移民外國亦都唔諗住返香港，除非你有錢派啦😂，不過就算派錢都唔夠機票錢，嘥氣😂

  已經離開香港移民他國香港人、如果在香港己沒有任何親屬聯繫或沒有金融銀行往來需要你具有香港人身份，你可以唔再需要換香港新身份證。

  @@yiw2587 很难说, 谁能断定不会返港 ? 永远長住就无可能啦 ! 弹丸之地, 还有什么吸引力 ? 人家去的都是大湾区啦 ! 约十年前时, 我预约好去湾仔入境处办理智能身份证, 不需半小时，快而準, 而只恰巧想起某附近三级酒店马桶内底之黑色積聚垢物, 缺乏基本衛生, 真使人一生难忘矣 ! 入境处最好搬去九龙半島酒店斜对面, 那我随都可安心返港办理那張便利证啦 !

  so, they said when you enter HK airport with your old ID card, they will take it away and advise you to go to immigratins to apply for a new one within 30 days. however, if you do not plan to stay in HK long enough to get the new ID card. Then how do you leave HK because you entered HK with your old ID card and you do not have the new ID yet, my suggestion would be to enter/exit HK using your passport. Otherwise, it will be a big problem because you entered HK using your ID and now you exit with your passport - their record WILL NOT MATCH. if the interviewer is reading my comment, please shed some light here

  @@yiw2587 when did you do that? i remember last time (many years ago) i entered HK with my old HKID, then i ran into issue at immigration when i left with my passport. let me confirm this with my buddy at immigration.

  @@usahonghong the video states theold HKID will not expires until 2025, so if you enter HK using your HKID, you still go thru the machine without needing to show them your passport.
