    I commented on a video previously and it seems my comment was deleted. Your student is missing many many nuances, very subtle nuances. I’m not sure if you’re just giving to him in time ? But I’ve seen the padwork videos as well and you’re doing way to advanced curriculum for someone of his level. You should know, I presume. The USSR school of boxe is built from the ground up, compartmentalization of every movement and then adding the nuance. Countless hours of the same drills to make it machine like. This statement “you have to be in incredible shape” “it’s the hardest style to keep up” these things aren’t true. You have to be in the great shape for any style and after the muscle memory is built it’s not a difficult upkeep. I’m not trying to be a pest. Only want the best for the kid because I was him at one point and now I’m a professional with 100% ko ratio and the only American professional with a classical Soviet style and one of the few coaches that teach the classical style. I would reach out to brett_willyumz on Instagram. My boxing/coaching page is on there as well. I would love help the kid and you as well. I’m an avid student of this style and have had/currently have amazing classical coaches. Hope to hear from you, if not and my comment is trashed. Best of luck to y’all.

    It may be sientific, and it's great I guess. The problem with the "soviet school" is the same as with any other soviet educational system -- total optimisation and egalisation. Coaches didn't care about individual traits of the boxers, they just trained boxers who fit they school. The others in the group were considered "budget ballast". One could tell the same about musical education, and education in general in USSR.

    He is on a steady diet and will be continuing to grow, it takes time to grow into your own body as a teenager as well as a boxing body, which is different than football players, basketball, baseball, soccer, etc. 5'11" is very tall for a 15 year old, his dad is 6'3". It wont be long before he towers over most guys like you as well as being a trained boxer, he will be able to handle most people with one single punch.

    Definition of skill in boxing should be based on 2 variables : agility in avading being hit and ability to create conditions for deliverimg a decisive punch not by running away from opponents the good part of a bout but by accepting a fight ( I understand that there's no way of of not stepping back when there's a volley of several punches but when a boxer steps back 90% of a bout is no good ). According to these criteria such boxers as M. Ali, Usick, Btr or Canelo can't be considered to be at the top of rankings at their times. M.Tyson of 1986-87 ( when his coach was Rooney ) or Mayweather ( when he didn't step back e.g. fight with Canelo ) are the epitomy of this logic

  • @jahkoz

    That is a very good breakdown and philosophical analysis of what a winning fighter can have attributes of. I would tend to mostly agree with that, it's called "Effective Aggression" when coming forth and if not scoring points or inflicting punishment, they are still forcing the fighter where they want and dictating the Ring Generalship. However, in modern day boxing there are 4 or 5 primary styles: American Philly Shell, American Conventional, Mexican, Cuban, Soviet. 3 of these styles all have attributes of excellent counter punching working off the back foot which includes American shell, Cuban, and Soviet. The Russians came over to train the Cubans their fundamentals in the 80s. As we all know Mayweather and Ali were the best at fighting off the back foot and still scoring points and inflicting punishment. However, those are only two fighters over the history of boxing who have been able to effectively implement that strategy and make it easier to score the fight in their favor. I think too many American fighters are trying to follow in the footsteps of Mayweather and it just isn't working for them as well. I agree with you, coming forward in most cases with effective aggression is the fighter that should be able to sway the judges. I enjoy watching the come forward fighters like Lomachenko, Beterbiev, GGG, Bivol, Usyk, Canelo, Crawford, Inoue, Janibek, Madrimov, etc..

    @@jahkoz You can add one more style : call it F.Bothaway of C.Smithway when a boxer fights the best in the division despite not being at a level to fight superior champions and thus makes himself a name ( for me such boxers are a joke rather ). C.Smith is now enjoying a nearhero status among brits after he took on formidable Btr ( Yarde also came to fame in England after 'going toe-to-toe with Btr for 7 rounds ) . But Botha is at the top of a newly introduced style: being annihilated by Tyson, Lewis and Parker - what a joke ! 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

    Beterbiev's okay, but calling him the most dominant when he's only fought 20 fights, and has only fought in one division is really too much... Can you not exaggerate his dominance just because you're the president of his fanclub, please? Calling Inoue's resume suspect while not mentioning how weak Crawford's is, and downplaying Spence (which I agree with, Spence is overrated AF) is an absolute joke. Crawford fought guys who were toward the end of their careers for their belts. The champs Inoue dominated went on to become champions after Inoue vacated his belts. Inoue put guys on the canvas who had never been put on the canvas ever or since after he fought them. The guy virtually never loses a round, and would have a 100% KO rate if it weren't for hand injuries and a corrupt referee (Donaire rd 11). Sad how the lower divisions get dissed for being small. Usyk is great...for a heavyweight. Heavyweights are all so slow, with virtually all having sloppy technique, crappy accuracy, little to no footwork, and low stamina that I personally laugh whenever I see anyone having a heavyweight in top 1/2. He's at best #4, and that's already being pretty generous. Fury isn't even on my top20, so it means nothing to me if Usyk beats him. But people love watching giants fight, I guess.

  • @jahkoz
    @jahkoz3 ай бұрын

    Hey thank you for dropping by and providing your feedback and ranking for your Top 10 it was really interesting to hear your top picks. I actually agree with a lot of your picks and assessment. I found it really hard to chose between Crawford, Inoue, Bivol, Beterbiev, and Usyk. My original ranking had Crawford at #1 and Inoue at #2 but I redid the list a second time and this is how it turned out on the given day. It changes for me each month it seems. First touching on your topic with Beterbiev seems a little projected and sensitive. I didn't want to really put Beterbiev at #1, his boxing isn't overly fashionable to look at and at times he seems vulnerable, being knocked down by Adam Deins. However, yes he is extremely dominant and the names on his resume are just as good as Crawford and Inoue or maybe better. Beating Tavoris Cloud back in 2014 is extremely significant on his record (Cloud was in the ring with Hopkins and Adonis Stevenson) and Beterbiev pretty much retired him. Gvozdyk was also lining up to be undisputed Champion besides Bivol. I'm sorry but Light Heavyweight division is much tougher than Inoue's division. It just is, guys move fast, they're talented in soviet style, and they just hit that much harder than anybody in the lower weight classes. I'm actually not even a huge fan of Beterbiev at all. I much prefer watching Lomachenko, Usyk, Golovkin, Janibk, and Bivol for Eastern Fighters. But you have to recognize dominance over an 11 year career, on top of a stellar amateur record of over 200 fights with 100% ratio at Light Heavyweight is just sheer Grimm reaper type power, punch volume, and stamina. I'm sorry but I will disagree with you and stand on my statement of picking him number one for this week, but it will most likely change next week to have Inoue at #1 and Crawford #2 lol so that I can agree with you on. The thing about Beterbiev that separates him from the other top picks is that when he beats people they pretty much exit boxing and they question their entire existence in the sport in the first place, that's how hard he hits. He made Gvozdyk retire, Tavoris Cloud, Marcus Browne, and Callum Smith all hang it up. Nobody else is really doing that in boxing and that is saying something. Even my former boxing coach who is not a fan of Eastern fighters said many many years ago that Beterbiev is one of the very best in the sport. Getting into a ring with that guy is like kissing the express train. Have you ever been in the ring before? Getting hit by power punchers is not fun at all. Now imagine Beterbiev hitting you. That’s a whole different dimension of abuse that is unfathomable by most normal citizens. I agree Inoue is one of the most talented in the whole sport and I could easily pick him over Crawford, Beterbiev, Usyk, and Bivol too. His dominance in every fight shows with round scoring, his +/- ratio, and his KO power are all attributes of dominance and exceptional boxing skill and Ring IQ. The Maloney win on his record is a really good one and a lot of other fighters went on to be champions like Rodriguez and others. The fact that Inoue has extreme punching power for a man his size and that he is a 4 division Champion as well as the only other boxer to be Undisputed in two different weight classes are the primary reasons I wanted to put him at #1 over Crawford and Beterbiev. Usyk is probably one of the most talented Heavyweights to ever come along in the division. I agree that most heavyweights are sloppy, with terrible footwork and eye hand coordination. However there have been quite a few over the years with both attributes to power and technique that we all know. Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson, Holyfield, Klitschko’s, etc, so it is not defunct of athleticism and technique like you claim. Usyk is just that good and a 6’9” Tyson Fury is standing in his way who I wouldn’t exactly rank as phenomenal but keep in mind he’s in contention for being Undisputed too. Personally I feel the most naturally talented athletic fighters of the list are Bivol, Lomachenko, Inoue, Crawford. My common gripe with the boxing community in the West is that they’re not that educated on the Eastern Soviet style and everybody over here is just getting a glimpse of it now. Our people have been fighting over there in the streets of Russia since the 16th century in mass coordinated street fights of up to 700 people. Our fighting has been in our blood since before Queensberry rules hit England and our Soviet Style was not allowed to compete with Western Pro boxing until 1991. Now you’re getting a glimpse of it for the first time and a lot of people are getting upset because they see the sport changing. I’m nearly convinced the history books of boxing would look a whole lot different if these men from the East were allowed to compete in Pro boxing since the 1950s. I’m also glad that fighters from Japan like Inoue can come into the sport and dominate.

    been boxing for 10+ years, i would suggest finding a coach who has actually had fights, or at least knows and has coaching experience.. training your kid in a garage doesn't make you a coach, and it sets the kid up for failure showing him the improper techniques, within seconds of watching the "coach" you'll notice he never corrects or tells the kid how the weight is transfered in a hook and there's no reinforcement on turning over the heel. This isn't intended just to sh!t on the coach but rather to give insight into what really makes a coach, there's lots of things we can all improve on but showing basics from the start is essential.

    Thank you for your feedback and it is appreciated of taking time out of care for my student but I have been in the ring with Golden Gloves and Diamond Gloves state champions and I will be receiving my USA certified boxing registration this year. If you would like to view our first video, we work on more basics through the weeks of pivots, angular velocity torque in the waist, weight transfer, I've discussed the difference of American Hooks vs Soviet hooks (Do you know the difference between them?) Some of these details are not on camera which I correct him. He will be a sound fighter from the ground up before even thinking of sparring and entering amateurs. If you would like to subscribe you can watch his entire process enfold. This is just the beginning, there will be more videos of technique progress. We have worked on foot pivots in every punch, he knows his basics before we have started to go into Soviet Technique which is a more in depth form of boxing than conventional American. And I don't know your background or can judge it, but to be clear not many in america understand Soviet techniques and there are no coaches in USA to teach it. Therefore, that's why he is my student. Thank you best wishes.

    I’m personally siding with Loma for these reasons Haney vs Loma thoughts Haney has so many flaws people aren’t even taking into consideration - Flat footed - Slaps with his hooks - He has his chin in the air & that’s why he got chin checked by Jojo Diaz - He’s not as fast paced of a fighter as people think - He let flat footed & stationary Jojo Diaz walk him down & land the straight left consistently ( he out-landed Diaz by only 20+ punches ) - He doesn’t have elite footwork & he doesn’t throw enough combos From what we’ve seen in the Diaz fight he doesn’t do as well against Southpaw fighters either so unless the two Kambozo fights & this camp has changed him and he’s decided he’s going to switch it up i have Loma by a close UD or SD. no one’s looking at Ortiz’ ability to judge this fight with Haney. Ortiz is a good skilful fighter with enough ability to give anyone problems Ortiz has better footwork than haney and is way more co-ordinated. He has more answers when he’s in trouble ( for example inside game against Loma he actually threw back, Haney doesn’t have inside game he just clinches excessively which is actually illegal if not initiated by both fighters which many don’t actually realise ) Ortiz throws punches in bunches, he double hooks, triple jabs and did thinks that broke Loma’s stance. We haven’t seen Haney do any of that & Kambosos had terrible defence and his chin in the air for 12rounds against Haney 2 times lol. I think a lot of people are going to be shocked because Loma has great footwork but the holes in his footwork only come out on the back-foot and I don’t see Haney risking pressuring Loma & being countered. He’ll stay on the back-foot & that’s an issue because Loma is comfortable on the front foot. He doesn’t have the power to intimidate Lomachenko either. We’ll see what happens but like I said i’m leaning to Loma for a UD or SD. I doubt Loma stops Haney due to size etc. Also, on Lomachenko’s half how is Haney going to deal with Lomachenko consistently moving his head & finding different head slots to keep himself from being hit on-top of the fact Loma blocks a ton of punches. How will he react to the footwork and inside game? Once Loma gets in on the jab which he will, Jojo Diaz had it figured out by round 4.. how will Haney react to Loma’s 2-1? It’s by far more accurate and technically sound than Jojo Diaz’ straight left. Lomachenko’s rhythm is another thing Haney hasn’t seen. Loma is very good at resetting and getting straight back to work after being pushed on the back-foot & finding an angle to get back inside and go to work and he showed that in the Ortiz fight. I have a lot of questions on how the fight will go. This is just me analysing it based on the Loma vs Ortiz ( young as haney, just as fast, just as skilled ) & Haney vs Diaz ( another southpaw who had success with the left hand which Loma also throws ) It’ll be a good fight nonetheless.

    The Russian style goes back to before the Soviets. It’s deep rooted in tradition and the Soviets took it from there: K.V. Gradopolov, then the most important Soviet specialist in Boxing, authored a 1941 work about using proper technique when fist-fighting. In that book, he offered a new exercise, called "group boxing", and he mentioned it was an ancient Russian sport (what he was talking about, was the "Stenka na Stenku" version)

    @@jahkoz i thought the reason Loma wasn't throwing 1st 6 rounds was bc he was feeling it out and waiting for safe entry bc dangerous puncher, and yes once Loma picked it up he was owning lopez but also got hit pretty hard, he picked it up prob bc he knew its that or a loss, and idk what post fight excuses to believe bc seemingly after almost every fight the loser has an excuse. If loma's shoulder was so damaged howd he pick it up and do just fine 2nd half of fight

    @@Yehonatan613 I mean dude, have you ever wrestled or gotten into a street fight with an injury, or played another full contact sport through injury??? It hurts pretty bad and only a very few percentage of athletes can get through that, let alone prevail and win a fight. Teofimo is a big puncher but he is nothing out of the ordinary man skill wise, he's just another Philly Shell style American fighter. Lomachenko was absolutely destroying him rounds 8-11. No punch ever truly hurts Lomachenko, its very very difficult to hit him flush. He has had pretty much the best +/- in all of boxing for years straight.

    Thank you brother for your kind words and appreciation for Lomachenko. He truly is a special talent in boxing. If more people got in the ring they would understand just how hard the mechanics of Vasyl's boxing is and his achievements.

    Awesome video! I appreciate your insight and I couldn't agree more. Loma truly is a special generational talent and it's unfortunate so many people undermine his achievements and skills. I can't wait for the fight and personally I would love to see Loma have that boy quit on his stool just to shut up all the haters. 😂

    Thank you bro for those kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed the video I will be uploading more of these lately. Agreed, Loma is truly a special talent, the haters won't appreciate him until he's long gone from the game. There has never really been anybody like him in boxing, Usyk is the closest. I'd be amazed if Vasyl made Devon quit on the stool, but he sure is gonna shut up the haters with his win. I can't wait to watch him fight, he's going to give it his all!

    I think holding will be a big part of Haneys game plan, clinching loma when he closes the distance and making him reset. I expect the clinches from Haney will progressively become more and more frequent as the fight gets into the later rounds. I also expect him to spam the jab on the outside and try to slow down the pace of the fight, Loma should be able to find counters, I think a good punch for Loma to use early is the straight left to the body off Haneys jab, I would also expect him to feint to the body and throw to the head once Haney begins reacting to his feints.

  • @jahkoz
    @jahkoz Жыл бұрын

    Very well assessed indeed you are 100% correct with foreseeing that. Haney will exceedingly hold as the rounds build up. This is for all the marbles though, Lomachenko is going to pull out all the stops himself, he's got some dirty tactics inside as well he will used if Devon wants to make this fight ugly and clinch. Haney will hold and that will slow the tempo, but Vasyl has a good way of notifying the Ref that holding needs to be reprimanded. You are right, Devon has a good rhythm to his jab and forces most people into fighting at his pace and range. However with Soviet Pendulum it is the greatest style invented to counter sharp American jabs. The in and out motion is either timed well by some American Philly Shell/Conventional fighters or it becomes hypnotizing to most. I can guarantee that Haney has never seen a Soviet Pendulum at the level of Lomachenko's pace, quickness, and timing. It's going to eventually hypnotize him and drain him mentally and physically. Yes you are right, one of Lomachenko's best timed moves is feints to the body or chin and then a (pull counter). He sets everybody up off the jab pull counter, Mayweather was great at that technique but Vasyl's is done off the pendulum. If the baited feints aren't taken by Devon Lomachenko will find a way to eventually open him up by the 8th with right hooks to the body followed up level changes upstairs to the jaw. He always solidifies that technique and catches everybody with it.

    I know this is completely of topic but if Usyk fought Fury, who do you got?

  • @jahkoz
    @jahkoz Жыл бұрын

    Great question, 3 years ago I would say 100% Fury, today 100% Usyk is taking that Win. Boxers with slow feet are punching bags for Fury, boxers with fast Feet are incredibly problematic for Fury. Watch the Christian Hammer, Otto Wallin, and Tom Shawrz fights. Fury ultimately beat these guys but they also showed openings in Fury's defense and rhythm. None of those boxers are even a quarter of the talent, stamina, and Ring IQ Usyk has. Fury's fighting attributes relies on jab and move. (stick and move over and over) Usyk has the fastest feet pretty much ever seen at Boxing Heavyweight history.
