Vic doesn't understand English that well so how is he suppose to answer her question? He can't. It isn't a matter of shyness. Jerry has a good understanding of English, but doesnt speak English often. If someone asked me something in Mandarin I doubt I can answer them.

Barbies mom was once asked by a reporter who of f4 did she think would be most good for her daughter she said she thought Vic was too young (5 year age difference), Vaness was not ready, Ken she doesn't know too well, but Jerry she loved. You see when Jerry saw Barbies mom he went to talk to her and she could tell Jerry loved his mom even more than himself. So her mom knew that if Barbie was with Jerry he would take good care of her.

With the crazy fame and crowds they got Jerry being the male lead was affected the most. He had to be surrounded by a group of bodyguards and some police. Fortunately for the fans all of f4 were 5 feet 11 inches (almost 6 feet tall). So even though Jerry was surrounded by bodyguards you can still see his beautiful face because he was tall. Jerry did appreciate his fans dearly. He kept all the pictures the young fans drew for him. So whenever he felt sad he would take them out to look at them and that would make him smile and be happy. Jerry is in real life a very sweet person. He loves his mom and sister the most so what girl's mom wouldn't love this guy.

After Meteor Garden aired in the Philippines and other parts of Asia the f4 members and Barbie became overnight sensations where the fans went crazy over them. The fame and the crowds got so bad I read that Vic would go backstage and hide and Jerry went back to his dressing room and cried. Jerry eventually came out and initially froze in his speech (he is known as the white rabbit) and then told the crowd that he was shy because he wasn't use to facing such a large crowd.

Once Jerry found out that Barbie said he (Jerry) was handsome (All f4 members were very handsome. That was one of the reasons they got chosen for Meteor Garden). Jerry, ever a jokester, said out loud when Barbie was around "I'm so handsome." Barbie playfully hit him but those two were very sweet to each other like good friends. Back then Barbie was quietly dating Blue Lan who was jealous of all members of f4. When Jerry found out he asked the director to remove one of his kissing scenes with Barbie. Jerry was always the gentleman and everyone knew he was very protective of Barbie. Once the fans crowded them and almost pulled Barbies hair. Jerry wrapped his arms around her and got scratched by the fans. Eventually Barbie broke up with Blue who was suspicious of Barbie talking to Vic. After the breakup Barbie started dating Vic (oh well Blue's suspicions were true). Nevertheless the fans preferred Vic to be her boyfriend. Jerry was already taken. He dating Lin Chiling whom he met back in the days they were models. That relationship actually lasted 6 to 7 years: 2000 to 2006.

Co-star Barbie Hsu who has seen f4 upfront rated Jerry on a scale 1 to 5 with 5 being perfect Barbie rated Jerry a 5. Jerry may not be photogenic all the time but really this man won two modeling championships with one by TVB. Of course Jerry is very good looking.
