Welcome to our channel where we hope to share a little bit of our life here in rural NY, our faith, homeschooling, family vacation recaps, home cooking, and many other activities and shenanigans from our old farm house. You'll see current videos as well as flashbacks from the past. We may even share a bit of the history of our old house (what remains of it), built by our ancestors in 1863, and our family members who have lived here since that time. Enjoy!
Although our normal schedule had been one weekly episode at 11 AM Eastern on Saturday mornings (with a few exceptions), we are now switching to 9 AM on Saturdays and will endeavor to post new videos as often as we can but it may not always be weekly.
We hope you find this a safe, friendly place to stop in as “old house guests”, enjoy our videos, and become part of our extended family! May God bless you richly, wherever you are in the world, and we hope we can bring a little joy and encouragement while you’re here!

Oh no! When it rains it pours. Sorry things are crazy right now. I hope things settle down and everything works out great with the insurance! Have a wonderful week!
@@AtHomeWithKari thank you. We should hear from insurance today or tomorrow.
Sheesh Dale. Glad no one was hurt! And at least not too much damage! Stay safe you guys.
@@NBNatureTrailvan thanks, Dave. Yeah, that was a close one. Claudine was sitting just inside our front window when the branches came within inches of hitting the glass. At least it was just the porch and steps to our pool deck that were damaged.
😭😭 bye, tree!!

The drive to Dornie was my favorite part of our trip to Scotland! 😊
@plannedwanderings that was definitely a scenic drive for sure!
Guys this was great, we have not visited a Scottish castle so this was very interesting. I enjoyed your tour and the harbour at Oban was gorgeous. Loved to hear about the secret passageways on the dining room where you stayed 🙂👍~ Anna
@@FXWalesAnnaAlf thanks so much, Anna! We're glad you enjoyed it! We appreciate you watching and leaving a comment! You and Alf should take a trip up to Scotland sometime!
@@OldHouseOnTheCorner You are welcome and yes we definitely should. Looks great up there 🙂
Fantastic adventure video! Keep up the good work. Thank you so much for sharing the wonder!~
@3JBCel thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Thank you enjoyed this video👍🦋
@pink5068 thanks for watching and leaving a comment. We appreciate it.
Okay just saw the spelling but you did pronounce it with the p
@scottwhite2043 the name is derived from Scots Gaelic "Caimbeul" which has no "p".
If I heard you pronounce your last name in the beginning of video. I didn't hear you say the "p". When was the p add or has it always been in the spelling and just not pronounced
@scottwhite2043 the "p" was added hundreds of years ago and is an English spelling. The original spelling and pronunciation is without the "p" and sounds more like CAM-BULL.
Beautiful drive! That is so neat. I didn't see the staircase until you pointed it out! Great video! Your trip seems so fun!
@AtHomeWithKari yes, it was definitely fun to say the least. Pretty cool staircase, eh? If you enjoyed that beautiful drive, check out the next video in Glencoe. Absolutely stunning! The camera just doesn't do it justice! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! We have our ferry to Mull coming up soon too!
Stunning drive. Glencoe is magnificent! I know what you mean about it being a little scary. Good views of Castle Stalker and looking forward to seeing Duffstanage 👍👍 Have a good weekend guys. 👍👍
@@NBNatureTrailvan thanks, Dave and Sue! We can't wait to share our visit at Dunstaffnage. Really appreciate you following along and leaving us a comment! 👍 You guys enjoy your weekend as well!
Beautiful but very cloudy
It's Scotland. That's part of its beauty! If you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes.
@@OldHouseOnTheCorner almost like NYS weather
@@scottwhite2043 exactly... We felt right at home!
Great video, Glencoe is stunning. I haven't been through it for a long time, must change that very soon!!
@@Brummie-In-The-Highlands yes, you should! Wish we'd had a chance to meet up with you in Inverness when we were there. It would have been nice to meet in person. Thanks for following along on our videos!
Cannae beat the A82! Glad to see you stopped by David Stirlings monument 😮Great wee video guys
@walkingwithtamson thanks, Stuart! We enjoyed that drive and we followed the A82 right into Glencoe (coming up next).
Can’t beat sausage n mash or fish chips and mushy peas!
@@RaymondoLeeTravel all but the mushy peas were a hit. LOL
@OldHouseOnTheCorner another option at some places is curry sauce 😋
@@RaymondoLeeTravel we don't think we saw this... or maybe we didn't notice.
Nice set of fireworks Joe! Spotted your little van in the background
@@RaymondoLeeTravel we're guessing this was meant for someone you spotted in our video?

@@RaymondoLeeTravel ah, that makes sense.
8:32 lovely shots of the castle with the low cloud! Warwick castle in England has a working full size Trebuchet! Amazing power huring big rocks!
@RaymondoLeeTravel hard to imagine what it would have been like to witness the onslaught, or worse yet, be on the receiving end of an attack. Thanks for watching!
It is amazing all of castles and bridges are still standing. I love y'all got pictures with the castle too! Thanks for taking us along.
@AtHomeWithKari yes, we commented often about how so much is still standing while our modern construction falls apart much quicker. It's amazing to see these castles, bridges and more and imagine what life was like when they were new. Thanks for following along!
Wow! The scenery is so gorgeous. It makes me want to visit even more. It looks like y'all had a great time. I am so glad y'all got to experience this!
@AtHomeWithKari yes, it was very gorgeous. We had so much fun visiting and wish we could have stayed longer. Glad you're enjoying it!
Could have saved some money
@@scottwhite2043 on what?
Great to drive across to Eileen Donan Castle with you guys. That A82 is a really spectacular road. And cool that you travelled across to Skye. Dornie looks cute - and some great photos of the Castle at night. Mushy Peas, a delicacy!! (Not really, but I must admit to liking them with Fish and Chips)! 😃 Another great update guys. We stayed at Barcaldine on the campsite there - beautiful place!
@NBNatureTrailvan thanks for following us along, Dave and Sue! Yes, the trip out to Dornie and Eilean Donan was beautiful, and the A82 is a great road down the great glen. Thanks for your kind comment on the photo of the castle! Claudine would probably give you her mushy peas any day, lol.
@@OldHouseOnTheCorner 😃😃
Wow! That is so neat. The city is beautiful. The bnb looked nice!
@@AtHomeWithKari yes, it was a pretty city. We enjoyed the walk along the river and looking at the old buildings.
The castle is awesome! That is the fanciest bird feeder I have ever seen!🤣 The gardens are gorgeous! I have so many ideas for the archway if it were mine...lol
@AtHomeWithKari that was quite the place, wasn't it? And the garden was amazing. Wait until you see the one at Inveraray Castle (coming in a later video).
@@OldHouseOnTheCorner It sure was. I am looking forward to it! Your trip looked amazing.
@@AtHomeWithKari we certainly enjoyed it!
We did your route 30 yrs ago, brought my tent, he proposed, married in Banff, justice of the peace then the guy played 'soccer', hubby 'football' nut was thrilled! Scotland lost yest I heard but we live in Pointe-Claire and there's a street called Urquhart near me, google pic of our community center Stewart Hall! Josée, I loved seeing French writting on castles as I didn't know they'd banded together!
We've actually been to Banff, Alberta but didn't make it to Banff, Scotland. We did, however, drive through Calgary, Scotland on our way to Calgary Bay, Scotland on the island of Mull (also in an upcoming video) so we can say we've been to Calgary, Alberta and Calgary, Scotland. Interesting that you have an Urquhart street. Yes, the Scottish and French banded together a bit in the past so there's an intertwined history there. Thanks for watching and we hope you'll subscribe and stick around for more videos from our trip! We made a loop around the middle of Scotland and there's plenty more to come!
Hi, I've been there, my mother in law was from Carradale, Scotland, south of Cambeltown, I've been 3 times even took the kids, Joyeuse St-Jean from Montréal! Xox
Hi Joyeuse and welcome to our channel! Thanks for stopping by and leaving us some comments! We thought about driving down to Campbeltown but ended up not going and only drove to Tarbert (which you'll see in an upcoming video).
Love this - I haven't visited Urquhart Castle for many years but it has always been an evocative place, especially when the mists are swirling around as when you guys visited. Inverness is a place we must get back to. Your Air BnB was really in the backstreets there. Very cool. Looking forward to the next stage guys
Yes, the mist hanging around the castle and low over the loch when we first arrived was an iconic look. It made quite the view. We enjoyed the AirBnB in Inverness too. Only one block up from the river, close to the Infirmary Bridge. That was a very lovely walk up past the Ness Bridge to the Grieg Street Bridge and back that evening. Thanks for watching and following along! We've been enjoying your trip videos as well and figuring out where you were in relation to us at the time.
@@OldHouseOnTheCorner i think we were quite close on Mull at one stage? The trip across to Pitlochry was on our third week away. Just checked - we were in Pitlochry on 15th May. I think you were travelling in sort of the opposite direction to us. But on Mull we just missed each other! Hoping to get back to Scotland soon!!
@@NBNatureTrailvan yes, I believe I figured out that we were landing in Craignure when you guys were leaving Tobermory. So close and yet so far! It would have been fun to run into you guys! On May 15th, we were actually in Edinburgh, staying just a stone's throw off the Royal Mile.
new grandkids great! your family is really expanding! see you saturday!
Thanks, Mark! Happy Father's Day!
I have the same reflection prob in my road trip vids :) nice video - if things were better in the world - we'd leave right now!
😊👍 Praying you get there in the future!
A very evocative place guys. Have always felt the heavy atmosphere there when we’ve visited. It always amazed me that the Jacobites made it all the way down to Derby in the ‘45. Inverness is a beautiful city and the air bnb looked great 👍👍
Yes, it was quite the solemn site, we thought. Inverness and the River Ness was beautiful. It was great to walk along the river that evening. Thanks for following along with us! We're enjoying your trip as well!
Are you back in the States now ? We never met 😢
Yes, we were there in May (landed in Edinburgh on May 4 a little before 11 AM and left on May 17 a little after 9 AM). We had a wonderful time in Scotland but the closest we got to you was probably Perth on the first day (we drove through there after arriving) and then we headed to Aberfeldy area for the first not and drove to Inverness on the next day. Sorry we couldn't connect, Jon. That would have been nice.
@@OldHouseOnTheCorner Next time hopefully 🙏 Who knows, maybe I'll make it to the States one day
@@JontheBerean if you ever plan a trip over, let us know. Our state has a lot to see and do.

Scone Palace is wonderful, I've stayed in Aberfeldy and climbed Ben Lawers here. Lovely area!
Scone Palace was very interesting to visit, and we did enjoy our first night in the Aberfeldy area. We agree, it was a lovely area!
We have one in Derbyshire in England thats almost as old. 😮 I know your not used to it but we have many roads like that in the uk. Always fun 😁
Correct, we weren't used to them but we knew ahead of time there'd be many we'd drive... and we did end up driving on a few, including the one from Tobermory over to Calgary Bay when we were on Mull. I (Dale) got used to them fairly quickly and was having fun. Claudine? Not so much... and she never drove. Lol
@OldHouseOnTheCorner yeah my wife is never keen on narrow roads either 😆 I remember driving in LA at rush hour. Now that was horrendous!!
