    I would love to learn more about the mods you did to your trailer to prevent breaking the traction bars off on the hydro dove. I have a similar trailer and have been trying to figure out the best way to get a container on and off without damaging the trailer.

  • @TitanicTrailerServices
    @TitanicTrailerServicesАй бұрын

    If I were to order a new trailer I would get it with the traction bars shortened so they don't touch the outer 5 to 6 in of the deck Edge. That way the container corner pockets can slide easily along the outer rail. Currently I have 3"x3"x9.5' angle iron rails on the tail to keep the container above the traction cleats

    @@TitanicTrailerServices Thanks for sharing. That's about what I had assumed you had done. I think I may have something similar fabbed up that I can drop in the stake pockets when I need it and remove when I don't.

  • @TitanicTrailerServices
    @TitanicTrailerServicesАй бұрын

    I tried drop in stake pocket rails initially so I could remove them when not needed, but the constant bouncing and jostling of the tail when you're on the highway causes vibration and wear that destroys the pins and they'll always tend to pop out stake pockets

    I just subbed, thank you for the content. I’m looking at ordering one of these trailers. I’ve been eying out Kerr Bilt, but I’ve seen a couple comments about their trailers get bent after the first couple boxes. What are your thoughts? Do you have any recommended companies to go through? TIA

  • @TitanicTrailerServices
    @TitanicTrailerServices Жыл бұрын

    From what I've heard if you get the trailer that is a container only trailer, meaning the one with just the frame and no wooden deck those ones are a bit more fragile, and the tail can bend. The one that I have with the full wooden deck, does have some flexibility to the duck but is pretty sturdy and hasn't had any long-standing problems

    I have my setup going, but still continue to straggle with the winch. My batteries are in the side compartment similar to yours somewhat in the middle of the trailer, I instal 0-2 gage wire with a fuse from the batteries to the winch, but when this comes to pull the container up sounds like the batteries doesn't have juice to do the work a doesn't pulls, but the hydraulic dovetail works great up and down even with a 40ft container on it! do you have separate batteries for the hydraulic dovetail and for the winch? What Im assuming is that there is too much distance for the power to travel from the batteries to the winch?

  • @TitanicTrailerServices
    @TitanicTrailerServices Жыл бұрын

    @@franciscolomeli72 On both my trailers have a direct line from the truck's battery in the front to the back of the truck, and have quick connects to connect the trailer to that line. I find when I'm using the winch a lot battery power alone is not enough. Having it directly connected to the truck helps the trailer battery regenerate between uses and keeps a constant supply of power to the winch when it's under heavy load.

  • @TitanicTrailerServices

    Hauling both together would be done best with a dually because you are able to put more weight of the load weight on the drive axle of the truck, giving you better control. On a srw truck it would be very easy to be overweight on your drive axle with that kind of weight.

    Nice video, If I may make a few suggestions, First off, I won't comment on the type of music as everyone has their own style but the music is way too loud. Secondly, your voice volume is way too quiet. So what happens as I am listening to this video is I have to turn up the volume to max to hear you talk then turn down the volume to min when the music plays. A more balanced approach to the voice versus the music would make this video a more pleasant experience. As to the content, I like it. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next video.
