just a few questions if you dont mind: 1) where did you get your paper shaper tool; 2) where do you get your silicon; 3) how do you determin the thickness of the silicon and 4) how do you control thevthickness of the silicon you apply? I have been producing similar art typically using 1mm thick foam backing the create the 3D effects and it would seem that silicon could make the process easier if the thickness can be readily controlled Thank-you in aaddvance for tou time and assistance

Hi there! I got my initial set of supplies on a paper tole shop online. They carried a type of silicone that was the right thickness for paper tole (acid free too), and then I was able to purchase subsequent tubes at the hardware store after I knew what I was looking for. I usually use a toothpick to control the amount of product I use. :)

I just started my first painting. Getting the air out of any wrinkles in adhesive will be invaluable as I bought a couple of cheaper paintings from Amazon that came folded in half or thirds. This tip will save me much hassle and frustration I’m sure. Wonderful video and new subscriber!

You talk about using square drills vs round ones. Are you doing kits? You don't have a choice. Or do you just replace all the round ones with the square ones? Or do you never use kits???

Hi, Paula! For most off the shelf kits these days, you don’t have a choice, but for custom canvases you usually do. 🥰

How much difference do you think the number of colours makes? I'm considering a 45x60cm canvas (is that medium or large?) for an image of a parrot with large flowers, so probably suitable for a medium canvas, but I could order it with 45 or 60 colours. Do you think it will make much difference?
@tinyworldsofwonderАй бұрын
I think going by the rendering preview is the best way to know. I have seen renderings with 45 colors that turn out better than with 60, but it is often very dependent on the image itself.

Super smart idea for the masking tape. I’ve spent hours cutting squares into the covers and sometimes (horribly) through the canvas with a razor pen…. This is a much better solution.

Figuring out where to place the shadows is the hardest part for me. I figure that once I learn that, I'll be okay. I keep trying, but it never looks right. That's the part that I really want to learn how to master: deciding where the shade and the shadows go. I need a crash course so that I can practice over and over again.

Please show a video for the actual diamond painting of your own from showing how to actually do the dp on the canvas not just the half picture. Thank you so much in advance

This was very helpful. I’ve only been DP-ing since December and I’ve finished 7-all with round drills. Tonight I started my first DAC square drill canvas and I was in tears. I wish I’d watched this video first. Something that brought me joy for 6 weeks was now making me cry. I pushed and pushed and pushed to align those squares so intensely I actually caused my index finger to bleed from gripping the pen so tightly. Okay deep breaths. Tomorrow I will put on a bandaid and try checkerboarding and lifting to align and aiming for the corners. Thank you for all the great advice. ❤

Can someone tell me what kind of wax they use that really works well? I’ve tried the putty and the blue wax and it is a little better than the red wax, but I find that I can’t seem to get the wax to stick in my pen. For example, the blue wax - I press it straight down to go through the wax and sometimes it goes in the pen - other times it just pushes a hole in the wax but nothing goes in the pen. Sometimes when using wax, like the red, it just doesn’t last that long and I’m constantly filling up my pen. I love working on diamond dotz, but the frustration of trying to pick up drills and they don’t stick to the pen really ruins the experience for me. The putty wax is okay, but again, trying to load the pen up with that doesn’t always go smoothly. I’ve been doing diamond dotz for almost one year now - done about 8 paintings. Thanks for anyone’s suggestions on a good wax.
