Hiya , can I just ask you a quick question about this video when you got in the car and started her? Am I right in thinking she started but died then started up the next try? Is she in a habit of doing that or was she a little bit cold?, My partners moggy does exactly like that, she can understand it doing it after she’s been out shopping and maybe she has stood a couple of hours and she will just restart her then give her a tiny bit choke just to stop stalling again but lately even if she is on her way home from somewhere and the car is fully warmed up and she calls into a shop for a bottle of wine for the night time when she comes out of the shop she turns the key and she starts but then Just dies and I was in with her the other day where, she stopped off somewhere and when she got back in the car it did it twice before she started properly the third try which is very unusual for our car like I say I was just wondering if she was cold because we both noticed once she did start you gave her some revs with your foot before letting her drop to idle

Considering the starter motor on these Morris Minors are of the Lucas inertia type, just asking if it had jammed in mesh with the engine flywheel as these did from time to time & you had either put the car in gear & rock it or get a spanner on the starter motor shaft to free it or is the fault more extensive like the brushes worn out, field coils or armature shorted perhaps please? I had exactly the same problem with my Minor some years ago. I changed the points, rotor arm and condenser, swapped the fuel pump etc. but it still wouldn't start. In the end, and out of desperation I changed the distributor cap - the engine started first time and off I went and it never played up again. The reason I didn't change the distributor cap in the first place was because it looked quite new and shiny, and I could see absolutely no signs of carbon tracking inside, but obviously it WAS faulty so I suggest you give that a try if it still plays up.
