Where can I find the non slip mat
This non slip matt is a paw matt. But you can use a yoga matt and cut it to size💗
Great video thank you Melanie I have learnt a lot 🙏🌸🌸
You are very welcome 💗💗💗
Is she a Maltese Cross poodle?
Yes she is💗
So beautiful!! Greta job! Thanks for sharing
Thank you💗
What about the poop chute? My black standard four month old gave me a hard time. You professionals make it look so easy. But it’s not. I was doing my little black guy and I was off by two inches when I first started. I had to get a light to see what I was doing and couldn’t believe I was that far off. Looks ten times easier on a white or light colored dog. I have been spending more money on all the grooming supplies because I spent a lot on grooming and veterinary care with my last guy that died of bloat last year. I decided since I’m now retired that I would do the grooming and I’m finding out how totally lousy I am at it. But I’m hoping like everything else, it gets easier and I get better. lol. I should have watched a few more videos before I started. Doing his feet, he was making me think I was hurting him so they look like crap too. After our break, I’m finishing up his feet. I really thought it was going to be easier. 😳that’s the look on my face now. Thanks for sharing. Definitely helps me.
What length are you doing on the body? I would normally clip around the poop chute on a 10 blade, and then around the rear end area do the length that you are clipping the body on. Yes, black dogs can be harder to see. The more you groom your dog the better and faster you will get, I promise. I would recommend trying to groom your dog at least every fortnight, this will make the job easier for you and your poodle. My poodle acts silly when I am clipping his poodle feet as well, but he will settle down the more I do it. Please don’t give up, you will get better 💗
take care of your hands..use gloves🙏🙏🙏
I prefer to be able to feel the dogs hair when I am washing them as it ensures I have cleaned and rinsed the dog coat correctly and thoroughly 💗
Another great groom. Gorgeous wee dog
Thank you💗 I love her so much 💓
Best groomer to learn from,as always so clearly explained.love how kind she is with the dog's
Thank you, my passion is dog grooming
Thanks Mel
You are very welcome💗
Thank you for this. I have an elderly incontinent pup that I’m constantly scrubbing the long hair
You are very welcome 🙏🏻 I totally understand the challenges of having an elderly dog💗
Those scissors need wd40!
No they are all good, the sound is the serrated edge✂️
I think my miniture poodles hair in places is straighter but I like the teddy cut.
Yes, some can be a little straighter, but you could still do a teddy trim💗💗💗
Do you shampoo a standard poodle's face? How do you clean around the eyes?
I wish my Lagotto was so good. I have to jump in the shower with a hand shower attachment and we both get wet before he's clean 🤣
lol, I know that feeling. Lagotto’s are such a strong breed.
What would you use on a Maltese or Yorkie coat?
Thank you for your question💗 if your Maltese or Yorkie had a full coat I would recommend the Everyday collection as it is a heavy formulation and is formulated for drop coated breed, to assist in weighing the coat down.melanienewman.com.au/collections/the-everyday-collection If your dogs have a shorter coat , the relax will be fine, it’s our lightest formulation and will not weigh the coat down, but will still add lots of hydration and moisture to the skin and coat💗 hope that helps🩷
So basically everywhere lol
lol, 😜 yeah basically
I don't use soap when I wash my Corgi s face. I use plain water and my hands. I gently massage her face. She seldom has any matter at her tear ducts. I love watching your KZread videos even though most of doesn't pertain to grooming corgis. I find them very informative.
Hi Beverly, thank you so much, gosh I love Corgi’s. They are such beautiful dogs💗💗💗 thank you for your kind words😍☀️
Is Bentley a Lagotto ? He's gorgeous and so good with water. My Vinnie needs his ears blocked with cotton buds too as his ears get infected easily. Another great video. Thank you
Bentley is a miniature Poodle. It’s such a great trick with the cotton wool😍😍😍 thank you for your lovely comment 🩷
What kind of water "wand" do you use? It seems gentle and soothing as far as sound goes.
We brought it from this bathroom supplies-bathroomwarehousedirect.com.au/products/meir-round-hand-shower-on-rail-column-pvd-tiger-bronze
What number blde are you using? to cut the long hair? my is knotted and I can't get it unknotted.
Hi, my apologies. I did answer your question but it didn’t come through🫣 I clipped her body on a 3f blade and scissored her legs. If you dog is matted you may have to clip you dog shorter, to clip under the matted parts or speak to your groomer. 💗
The dog hair is terrible from puggles. Makes me not like the dog :(
Could you please tell me what sort of brush you were.using to brush out before bathing, Melanie?
Hi there, thanks for your message , that is an Artero double sided slicker brush. Here is the link if you need it. melanienewman.com.au/products/artero-double-sided-slicker-brush
Melanie, do you generally brush up when you clip?
Hello, I will brush up to make sure the hair is cut evenly when clipping🌸
Why does the video have a dog whining over you speaking ?????? 🤯😠 extremely….frustrating and annoying and just……. unpleasant to watch and listen to a lesson…. ( it is a distraction and no college or uni or tafe would do this over a teacher…. ) So why have you?…. All that effort to share experience….. lost in a whining dog sounds. Also it Makes one think the dog your grooming is stressed and upset….besides my own Dog responding to it.
Did you watch the entire video?? The owner was there for the entire groom. Cody is a dog that is home groomed and is not used to being groomed in a salon environment. I think your comment is unfair to the dog, he is not biting or misbehaving and I think he did really well. Maybe get your free grooming advice somewhere else, your negative comment against someone’s beloved pet is not welcome here, cheers ✂️
This is my dog, and yes, he can be a nervous dog. We are working on this, and introducing him to new environments is helping. As Melanie said, we were there the entire time, and she handled him very professionally. He needed a good groom, and we wanted Melanie to show us how. We took lots of breaks for cuddles and reassurance. Hopefully others could learn from it too, and perhaps feel reassured that they are not alone in having a nervous dog. In my opinion, it shows that not only is Melanie professional and can work well with stressed dogs, she's also down to earth and not just about that perfect curated look you get all over socials.
You're so lovely and kind to the beautiful dogs
Thanks , I love working with the dogs so much 🩷
This IS GREAT and very informative! Thank you! ❤❤❤
I’m pleased to hear you love our vids 🩷
Love the tunes Mel
💝 great band 💕
Thanks Melanie for doing such a great job on Cody, he came home soooo soft and beautiful. Your videos are always so helpful and I love the time stamps.
Thanks guys, thanks for bringing Cody in. Fun day 🩷
An excellent video. My Lagotto is a bit nervous and anxious but your advice and explanations are just so helpful to keep him manageable between grooming sessions.
That makes me so happy to hear :-) thanks for your comment 💝
Beautiful groom, thank you for this video ❤
Thank you so much, I appreciate that💗
May I know what coat the dog is? Is it Wolly or Fleece ?
Sure thing, Frankie has a curly coat💗
I've got a special brush for Gucci, my Corgi. It was recommended by a groomer. I ordered it off of Amazon. I found a spray conditioner that I use on Gucci before I groom her which was recommended in a grooming book. She does well when I brush her, line brush her, and use a desheeder on her. I spray her coat every time I use a different grooming tool on her. I'm still working on getting her used to nail clippers. I do have a Dremel to trim her nails. I just have to get around and desensitize her. She gets her teeth brushed every night before she goes to bed. She's ready for bed around 8:00 PM.
Amazing video. Very informative. Just one thing, I have a diagram on my oil tube depicting few more points of needed lubrication, most likely where all the metal parts are making friction ... I can send you the photo if needed ...
Yes, please send me a photo [email protected]
Great Job!
Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi Melanie. Your video is really clear and easy to follow. I really appreciated how you broke everything down step-by-step. Thank you so much for sharing your years of grooming expertise.
You are so welcome! I am so glad you enjoyed this grooming tutorial 💘
You are so kind… you are such a delight to watch and learn from. Thank you for sharing your talent.🙏🏻♥️
Thank you so much for your lovely comment💗
I have a Maltese and I am a first time pet mama. How often do you give her a bath? Thanks
Hello, depending on your dog’s lifestyle. Some of my dogs get bathed weekly as they spend more time outside and some every two weeks. One of my dogs begins to chew his legs and feet if I don’t bath him weekly, he has allergies. It’s important to use a gentle shampoo and always use conditioner 💗
@@MelanieNewmanSalonEssentials thank you for answering my question quickly. I have him for a month now and had given him bath twice plus once in the groomer. When my friend heard it she told me I should only bathe him once a month. He’s mostly an indoor dog. I’d take him for a short walk in the neighbourhood. Glad to know it’s okay to do weekly. Thanks again 🙏
@@sapphire6107 you’re welcome . We have a video on introducing your puppy to grooming that may help you also 🙂
So cute!! ❤
She sure is🩷
So cute !!!❤
Thank you💗
When I do front and rear paws I hold the foot up from the rear like you do a horse hoof... my dog is fine with this.. but am I causing any undue stress on the joints? Thanks in advance.
The most important part of grooming is the comfort of the dog and if your dog is show no signs of stress due to pain, you are fine to continue. As he gets older you may have to adjust your techniques as your dogs bones/joints age. I hope this helps💗
Thankyou :) your tutorials are excellent
Thanks so much , I’m so pleased you are enjoying them
Hi there. When you used the yellow snap on 16mm to clip back of skull, head, what blade did you use please Melanie?
Do you mean the blade length under the snap on?
Hi. Yes please
I always use a 30# blade underneath a snap on attachment comb.💗
Gorgeous pup❤
Thank you, he sure is🩵
Thanks for the instructions, look out Poppy Adventure Dog your next for the grooming!
You are very welcome 💗
The results were very good, did manage to get a nice pair of dog clippers with a good review on them, cut Poppy Adventure Dog over two days with number 2 cut, lots of notts, hence the two days! Not perfect for the first attempt, but looks not bad as far as I can see! So thanks again.
Hey! This video is great! I’m fairly new to clipping my poodle cross dogs. One is very curly and the other more smooth coated. What’s really confusing me is, do I use different blade lengths or do I use one blade length and then attach different combs lengths to it? Hope that makes sense xx
Hi, yes it makes sense. If you use snap on attachment combs you will use the same blade underneath the snap on attachment comb. The snap on attachment combs are available in different lengths. If you are using blades that cut to the desired length ( example 7f, 5f, 4f) then you want need the snap on attachment combs. Normally you would use the same on attachment combs if you would like a longer length. Have you seen this video - kzread.info/dash/bejne/m2ukmMGhhLatiNY.htmlsi=c2qAdx78m3_dYOFo
Thank you, your presentation est very professional, I am a home groomer my forth time and it is a learning curve ;-) First I try the combs extension, my dog hair ( doodle) was not blow dry strait and it was a no go but 3f blade did a very satisfactory job.
Oh yes, the coat need to be prepped so well when using snap on attachment combs, completely knot and tangle free and dropping down to a 3f or a 4f is sometimes the best option.🩷
So inspiring
Thank you 🩷
Started having a try to groom my Archie yesterday & then found your video.. Archie looks exactly like Bentley except that he is a toy. Your video is the best & easiest to follow, thank you.. I was nearly on the right track with grooming like you have shown & this has given me what I needed to finish him better. Wish I could afford the thinning scissors, have tried a couple cheaper ones but they didn't do anything on his coat. Do you have to brush them every day to keep the fluffy look , Archie is back to his untidy curly coat in a couple of hours. Does one of your products keep them fluffy a little longer.
I am so glad you found our channel and it is helping you. I would recommend definitely buying a pair of thinning scissors when you can afford them, it will make a big difference in your efficiency when grooming. My poodles and Bichon begin to curl after about 4 days after a bath and dry. When I washed them, I shampoo twice and condition once and make sure all the oil and residual is removed from their coat because if the hair is still oily and not clean and dried properly it will curl back straight away. I wash all my dogs once a week and they get brushed then. I use the relax collection on our poodles 🐩 melanienewman.com.au/collections/the-relax-collection
