Your one stop channel for news, reviews, hints and tips if you are interested in anything optical. My aim is to present in a no nonsense and easy to understand way. Not only do I deal with a number of brand names, but am also a keen bird watcher and active astronomer. So you could say I have first hand experience on the subject.
My business opened back in 2006. During this time I have learnt a great deal about how optics work , and techniques to get the best out of your equipment. I do my very best to be unbiased , and when I think appropriate I will also mention some minus points with telescopes and binoculars.
Over the years I have had many viewers give positive comments about my uncomplicated presentation by email , phone or even coming along to see me in person at our open days.
Thank you for watching, and I hope my videos help with your choice of optics, and also give tips on maintenance of your prized equipment.

Hope you're well my friend. Always watching sitting in the wings. Take care buddy.
Cheers mate. Like to mix things up with old and new optics. Believe yours was one of the channels that encouraged me to get in front of the camera.
@@44messier Really! Wow! Well it's always nice to help in some sort of way...I've got to be honest, it is a little strange talking to a camera at first but I think most creators including myself start off a little camera shy.
It would be helpful to know the impact of turning the screws left or right. And almost impossible to look through while making these adjustments. Tripod almost essential.
Easy to rest them on a wall, table ext. I actually use my 10" dobsonian OTA
Haven't tried a makinon lens , thank you for the video
But will it give me a sea view?
Yes. Will focus on infinity
@44messier I am 90 miles in land I expect to see The Acropolis and The great pyramid from my window with this powerful monocular
Unless you live 5 miles high, 90 miles is impossible with any telescope due the curvature of the Earth
Is Hilkinson a British brand?
British brand name. Produced China
My barrel is rotating but not working, how can I fix it?
Thanks for the funny review. Just bought "Uscamel" 20x50 binoculars. I suspected it would be false advertising but gave it a shot and indeed it was absolutely not 20x50, just like the ones in this review. Waste of time.
Cheers mate. Thanks
Can you please help me decide between this one and Nikon Monarch M7
Do not deal with Nikon. But if anyone wants to send a set I`ll compare ;-)
how do you remove the center piece i need help taking it off
Prise off with a small screwdriver
😆🤣😆🤣😆🤣
👋 First scope, apartment in city center. I can choose between : 1) Celestron 70eq 2) Skywatcher 70/900 eq 3) Bresser Lyra 70/900 eq3 4) Skywatcher evo 90/900 eq2 (yet this costs more as expected). Does any of these prevail in terms of visual quality/optics? Should I prefer mount quality, e.g., Bresser eq3 instead of better optics? Thank you in advance!
Assuming you will be viewing from a light polluted area, larger aperture will not give much of an advantage. The 1st 3 you mention are opticall pretty much the same, so depends on which brand appeals to you more
@@44messier thank you for the swift answer! Choosing a first telescope proved harder than expected :D
Little men running about on the moon classic LOL 👍
With no script, I throw random things in as I go along
Abdominal snowman, rolling
is the FOV any good on these? As I world like to use them for birdwatching
To see all the specs, click on the link in the description. Thanks for watching
Ruby lenses for night vision, lol
Unless you have done so already check out my full review (dead serious) on the Night working 60x60 binos. Just like this video, only for fun and deffo tongue in cheek. Glad you found it amusing
@@44messier just did, we'll I did before taking a smoke break at the front door and saw a planet, so I quickly set up my camera tripod and etx90 tube and observed jupiter for a while into the dawn until I finally lost it and it was no longer visible in the tiny finder. First time in 3 years I have seen a planet in a scope. As to the binos, a bit of false advertising there to say the least
lol !!!🤣
You should have kept this for April 1st Nigel
на деяких смартфонах є сенсори з якими працює синхронно камера,тому можливо адаптер може закрити ці сенсори...не кажучи про сматфони з багатьма камерами
Are these good for folk with glasses. Iam after a pair of bins for my long dog walks which takes in some great countryside. Iam not bothered about paying around £100 for some or maybe more for the right pair.... I would welcome your input
8x are always best for spectacle wearers. Are you asking about these, as you mention around £100 budget. These are triple that
@@44messier hi thanks for the reply I was looking at getting the visionary naturescout 2 as a first pair then maybe progressing up to a better pair later. I've seen a pair on eBay for sale with a northern optics profile picture not sure if you are connected with that seller or not but they seem a good pair to start with?
Yes that will be me. But if you buy direct from the website (not eBay), and reply to the order confirmation email saying you watch this channel, I shall put something extra FOC in the box. We are reducing our listings on eBay for a long list of reasons.
@@44messier ok I'll will look at your binoculars later on when I get home 👍
Thanks for this! I thought it was broken for good.
Hello! Thanks for the videos, it's nice to find honest and straightforward reviews while shopping. Do you have any thoughts on Hawke's Nature-Trek 13-39x56 straight scope? I'm looking for something compact with high magnification for a combination nature watching, ships and surveillance and this is what I have landed on from the research I've done so far. Thank you!
Very clear optics , and build quality is on another level compared to the angled 56mm version. Don`t forget when ordering through our website, reply to the order confirmation email saying you watch this channel so we can put something extra FOC in the box
@@44messier Thank you that's very kind, I will!
Great informative video, just purchased the adapter from your site, can't wait to try it out 🙂
Thanks for the great video. Purchased the adapter from your site and can't wait to try it out.
Thank you so much man i dropped it by mistake i thought its done , and found ur video really helped
Hy, need a field review also! Thank you!
Excellent review, after looking at this I purchased them. Thank you
I agree 💯 with Nigel.much better than the price suggests.get a pair to leave in the glovebox.mine was the birder starter kit and it came with a Philips bird guide book
It wouldn't have a prism, would it?
Hy, great video! What do you recommend between 8x42 and 8.5x50? Thank you!
8x42 for bird watching. 8.5x50 for low light / astronomy
@@44messier yeah, they are heavy and what's worst.. A narrow field of view. Just returned them and ordered a delta forest ii 8x42 version! Hope will be good now!
I live outside the UK but found your videos and they were invaluable for making my decision - thank you very much, even though I am not a customer. I will recommend you to anyone I know in the UK.
Sir, is older version also have BaK4 prism? I have one ofered, older model, i don't know is it good for 100€
The previous model 10x42 were BK7 and very poor optics . That is why Hawke discontinued them. Pay the extra for the latest model.
@@44messier thank you sir 🙏🏻 Have a great evening
Thank you straight to point and simple. Liked.
This is what I need. Slowly putting together my portable rig. I have the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi with my Fuji x-pro3 and a prime fujinon 90mm lens. Old age has not come gracefully and I can no longer contort myself in a position to look through the polar scope. Many thanks, peace and love from Scotland.
I have 5 or more of those. They are great. Would not be without one. Thanks for the video. My opinion is they are the best add on for a telescope. Much easier to find things than the finder scope that comes with the scopes.
Are monocular really covered by the lifetime warranty? When I downloaded the user manual for the Endurance ED, it says 10 year warranty in Europe (I'm pretty sure the UK is in Europe even if not in the EU!). The same Endurance ED binoculars user manual says lifetime warranty in the UK. Not your fault, but the literature is really not very clear.
Hello . I can only comment on UK customers. The monocular are lifetime if bought after Jan 2018. Excluded are spotting scope eyepieces and electrical parts as used with the illuminated eyepiece models
@@44messier Thank you for your reply. I am in the UK
All models available from us. Remember to reply to the order confirmation email saying you watch this channel, so we can put a little extra something in the box
You got me the new version and it is brilliant 👍
