  I just noticed, Paper Mario went through the same thing Sonic went during the '10s Dialing back on unique characters, sanitization to downright flanderization of writing and characters, stagnation of worldbuilding, half-baked constant shifting of gameplay (You could argue this has always been a problem with Sonic, but from SA1 to '06 the gameplay is relatively stable, the rest of games are basically spin-offs without a titular distinction, so it feels like the entire series is a gameplay roulette) and probably more

  If they rereleased this game but added Knuckles to the story in some way. I would love it if they recontextualize the floating island as Angel Island. Even if Knuckles wasn’t added it would’ve been cool.

  dude the fact that we still haven't got a new Subspace Emmissary level adventure mode feels like a crime. the Great Cave Offensive is a cool reference tho

  I feel like every argument is just over exaggerated to make the game seem as bad as possible. Like for example the whole writing argument. This game doesn’t mind to get emotional at times. Its still the only pm game that has the balls to permanently kill off characters.

  it "gets emotional" by breaking its own rules, that alone is horrible writing also, bobby's sacrifice is barely even rememebered, so its just wasted potential

  @@priceycelery911 yes i can SPM kills off your main partner, the main antagonist, an entire world (they dont even get to rest in peace, its implied they are tormented), luvbi,the entire protag team of mario, luigi, peach and bowser (we know its a proper death since peach somehow ends up in heaven unlike the other 3 so its not teleportation), im pretty sure you deal a fatal blow to that flower king guy ttyd has colorado's dad die, im pretty sure that ghost toad on excess express finally moves into the afterlife (so we technically killed him?), the dragons die (theyre antagonists til the end but still a kill) admittedly i cant think of any character deaths from 64 off the top of my head but its the first game of the series with a traditional plot so whatever and none of these deaths have to break pre-existing rules like bobby's unneeded and forgotten death also, cite when bobby's death is mentioned after olivia gets past her emo phase other than that one convo between a generic bob-omb and olivia please, nobody likes a guy who simply goes "trust me bro"

  @@priceycelery911 literally just walk around and pick up coins from lucky blocks and puzzles, if you don’t bother fighting you’ll have more than enough to buy top level gear for the few boss fights

  Liking World of Light more than SSE has to be the biggest cope in the universe. World of Light is just battle after battle after battle. SSE actually did something unique with its cutscenes and actually playable levels.

  For the next Super Smash Bros, if I get the following of Lucario with an updated move set, Leon S. Kennedy, DoomSlayer, and both Kazuya Mishima & Jin Kazama (Jin being an eco fighter to Kazuya who either uses his fathers’ full move set, or his Tekken 3 move set), I’ll be happy.

  One of the things I think Nintendo really fails to do and has an open opportunity on their hands that they're just not taking is utilizing more Mario characters or Mario universe like characters to promote their other games for people to go check out what those are like when they see a character from that. Because so many people who enjoy smash Brothers play games from that series of a character they enjoy because oh I didn't know about this character let me go check out their game and see what it's like you can do the same thing with Mario and they're just not taking that opportunity

  I like the idea of choosing 3 characters to go into a dungeon but imagine the tower having some rewards locked behind obstacles that need characters with specific abilities to pass though, i.e you need to fall through wodden floors with someone like bowser or shoot a button with samus's missles, or even hit a switch that is in a balconny that you need someone like peach or kirby who can float to reach. All those rewards would be optional, but is an excuse for the player to re-play areas with diferent parties

  My biggest frustration is that Origami King has a ton of great ideas that due to poor decisions or implementation just don't quite land. The one thing that is unequivocally wonderful is the much better world design and exploration compared to PM64 and TTYD, but even that gets undercut by battles having no point due to the lack of xp and progression. The ring battle system would be great if it was a special thing that happened every so often (say, horde battles or arenas or whatever) while the TTYD battle system was the standard. A new partner every chapter instead of carrying a party forward is a fine idea in concept, but not when you can't control them in battle and they don't get quite enough development. The superpowered stationary items could have been great if they were, say, weapons being wielded by creatures that fit the Mario aesthetic who were the actual villains, instead of actually being sentient and the villains themselves. It goes on and on like this, and it actually makes the game MORE frustrating than if all the ideas were mid and bad, because in a more polished form that borrowed TTYD's gameplay core it could have actually been the best game in the series despite doubling down on everything is literally paper.

  Sm4sh is kind of the filler arc of the Smash saga. 64 was just a kid playing with their toys, Melee was a tad more serious and Brawl went in HEAVY on lore and shifted the tone for the series. Ultimate would’ve been a much better direct sequel, but my best guess is the team needed time to figure out how to follow up on the insane lore, while also going back to the more lax roots of Smash 64.

  ive noticed a trend when it come to smash games, aside from melee to brawl, every time a new smash game comes out, everyone always says the previous one was the worst in the series, the same thing happened to brawl when 4 came out, and now the same thing is happening to smash 4 when ultimate came out

  Although Smash 4 Wii U had more content and features, it feels like 3DS got the better end of things. It got Smash Run, a better Classic Mode, and better and more fun stages imo. This sounds crazy, but sometimes it feels like they wanted to make the next Smash mostly for the 3DS, and the Wii U version's content being an afterthought. I know the game was announced for both consoles before we even saw anything about the game, but it's just a thought

  64 is the one that started it all Melee is ingrained with the Competitive scene Brawl was experimental and innovated with new mechanics Ultimate is the culmination of all the best parts of the games Sm4sh is the beta version of ultimate.
