    So i have a question. Did you modify the side panels of the manx to have the sides where the 'doors' would be? Because they usually look hollow there and it sort of shows how the manx looks like a tub, and i liked this design choice better. Thanks for sharing

    This Manx has Side Pods or as Bruce put it "Competition Side Spats". They were available as an option at the time for $59.95

    Awesome Manx! I have a red Manx Clone sitting on a shortened 63 Bug chassis. My Dad and I built it when I was 13. It desperately needs restoration but I'll never sell it. I watched in awe as my Dad removed the body and cut the chassis in half and shortened it. I thought he was Superman.

(Kyotoe) But not a Manx 😂 Built from wrecked vw’s from the Aspen Dump as there was no junkyard at that time! 56 years and still a survivor 🎉 appreciation ❤ as I have done all that work also!😅 Vw love hate relationship ✌️

    Very nice build.. Did you by chance build a buggy about 10-12 yrs ago.. Yours reminds me of that build and even looks like the same garage on the inside... Do the Manx's use the heater channels from the original car? I always wanted a Manx with a heater, but didn't want to use the stock heater boxes because they were so ugly.. What would you do for heat? Again, you did a fantastic job on your Manx...

    Hi Gary, I did indeed build one before this one. It was very similar with an oval back window and chrome wheels. It was an extremely nice buggy but nowhere close to the detail level on this one. It went so southern California when I sold it. I have not seen anything on it since. Thank you for the compliments on this car. I enjoyed building it. The heater is a bit of an issue, and you are right about the heater boxes. The engine is completely exposed, and the exhaust is one of its main attractions, either good or bad. The first thing is getting all the air leaks sealed up between the body and hood and fuel tank to body then of course a top and side curtains which this one has. I considered getting one of those diesel heaters for around $100.00 and making a carpeted box for it. Then strapping it in the back seat when needed. Seat heaters go a long way and will go in my current speedster project. The 12v cigarette light types are questionable at best and I would avoid them altogether. Thanks again! Jim

This one will soon be for sale as I am beginning work on a 356 Speedster Replica. It will be a high-end build like this one.

None of it went down in Ohio on one of the Great Lakes. Sorry try again. The boat was auctioned off and somebody bought it and it actually did end up in Ohio. WellCraft SCARAB 38 KV. Second boat. FIRST SCARAB. first boat was a Chris Craft Stinger 390 of about the same size. The actual TV scarabs of which their are arguable four, 2 1986, and 2 1987 (87s had lights on arch) along with others with cameos. The four all had the lower white stripe on the sides dip to the chine midship while the Replicas (about 100) all had the lower white stripe continue back and through the transom. Tom Jewsbury restored this boat to supreme standards. The interior was beautiful as well with two opposing couches and a bed up front. It has a TV, microwave, refrigerator and potty as well. Loud ,thirsty, fast and smooth says KV38

    Question: Was the Scarab used on the show the only boat with that paint scheme? I.E., it was a custom paint scheme drawn up just for the series. Or rather, did Wellcraft offer it as a factory scheme for anyone who ordered it?

  • @KNUCLESTICK
    @KNUCLESTICK4 жыл бұрын

    Wellcraft offered Universal a "New boat painted any way they wanted it. This is the result. Now know as star 1 as it was the first. another 86 was supplied then two 87s. All of the Show boats (4) have the lower white side strip angle down to the chine mid ship. About 100 "Miami Vice" replicas were made and sold to the public. All of which has the lower white strip continue back to the transom. Their are some cameos of odd "vice edition" boats in different shows as well.

  • @corrioliseffect
    @corrioliseffect4 жыл бұрын

    Thank you, KNUCLESTICK. I've noticed the difference in location of the lower white stripe on various Vice boats over the years. The Monogram model kit, which I enjoyed as a kid, was supplied with side decals replicating the narrow 3-color stripe, with the lower white strip reaching nearly back to the stern. I once did spot (in about 1993), and green 1986-looking Vice Scarab in the harbor while standing on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. It was the 38 footer for sure; not the mini-version. If I recall correctly, this boat had the wider 3-color stripe as on your boat, with the lower white stripe ending amidships. I also remember a third white stripe, angled across the center 3-color stripe; I believe in the green area. It connected the upper and lower white stripes. I'm not sure why that extra white stripe was painted. Thank you for sharing your info! Your boat is the boat of my dreams!
