  I have a faulty fuel line connector on fuel filter (o-ring broken). I cut out the connector from the nylon fuel tube and now have to to install another one. The problem is that I have to install connector on a fuel line which is already installed on a car (I cannot remove the whole fuel line). I planned to heat a fuel pipe with a heat blower (200 degC) and then put the connector on a pipe with hands because I do not have enough space to use any tool (fuel pipe is to short). Do you have any kind of suggestion and is it dangerous to manipulate with heath blower at 200 degC in close proximity of fuel tank.

  The fuel pump gasket seals everything off,so why put all that seal all on the pump and metal ring?If the fuel pump ever goes bad you will never get the pump out of the tank.I can see putting all seal on the gasket.

  The reason for the sealant on the O ring seat on these trucks, as explained in the video is because many times the Seal circumference has shrunk and the new o-ring will not fit onto the seat. So once you cut the o ring to fit the seat the sealant holds it in place.

  All the rest of my gas line is still good its just fords cheap mesh nylon hose and connectors went rotten My metal line needs a new piece of rubber gas hose crimped on then i believe from there im set

  If you cut the crimp off there will be a barb underneath that you can push some fuel injection hose over and clamp

  The metal line needs done and then that piece crimped onto my line but how do i do that without the pieces and crimping tool the line coming from the engine to the gas filter and then the line from the filter to the gas tank I have a brake flaring tool but no crimping tool to crimp the new rubber hose to the metal 3/8 gas line Can wait on my cheap quick disconnect connectors and clamp then see if the shit still leaks with a rubber line on instead of that hard nylon line that keeps leaking because the clamps aren't small enough or its because its a hard plastic

  Wouldn’t you want to pre drill the holes first before sealing everything up so you don’t get any plastic drill scrap from falling into the tank?

  You can, but the small amount of plastic shavings will not hurt the pump. Many of the plastic tanks have shavings in the from when they were manufactured.

  6 years later and cheap Amazon pump O-rings are still screwing people… had to redo the job and put a bunch of glue on the ring

  That's why we say to use AC Delco or Delphi pumps. We see less than a 1/2% fail rate on those pumps.

  I've got a real gem here. The one I have the straps rotted and the tank fell off. The tank was crushed damaging the pump assembly and the large vent valve. Can anyone tell me where I can find a replacement valve for the 42E tank?

  cap off all holes and use a blow gun thru the main vent line. Use some soapy water around the fuel pump and fittings and use 3-5 psi to check for leaks. Don't use too much air or you may end up getting the fuel / air valve stuck in the up position and then it won't take gas.

  The quick connect has barbs on the end which make it impossible to pull the nylon off without cutting it. If you use a clamp it will chafe a hole in the nylon.

  @@gastankrenuersoninc9540 some how my neighbors car started leaking gas from where it was replaced. Putting a squeeze clamp on stop the leak. I watched 2 videos your was without his with clamp. Now I know why it leaks. Chevy Using that China engineering. Junk

  I call bullshit tried it an connector will not go in. Tried Heat tried hot water an ur way an piece of shit connector would not go in far enough. Couldn’t get it up all the way up an it fell right out an pisses me off

  If you cut past the barb it will never go in. You must make sure that you cut it and leave the last little part of the barb in the line and then pull it out after you make the cut so that it keeps the line open.

  I agree. Putting a new quick connector into a new line is impossible without the Dorman tool. It will crimp, twist and mangle the line and still not go all the way in.

  Punch can do the same thing. Stretch the end slightly with a punch and silicone the connector

  Thanks so much for the video. I was struggling with the new fitting and don't have any special tools for that, but I did have access to a fuel flare tool. I did what you said and like butter, it slid right in. Thanks so much.

  It's also a good idea to use a brass pin when removing pump secure ring... hammering metal on metal could produce a spark...not likely but still possible...gas fumes are nothing to chance with..

  I watched this video AFTER cutting the line. I tell you what, NOTHING works if you cut past the barb. This tool is just a waste if you do. Boiling water doesn't work, hair dryer doesn't work, nothing.

  Update: Thanks for the tip, worked like a charm. Took quite a bit of effort to work the quick connect into the tube but it's all sealed up.👍
