this might be a weird question but, are those little things for ur drone string staples or what? did u do that urself? is there any common practices in the banjo world for doing things like that so u can lock it up down the frets
@StevePlaysBanjo15 күн бұрын
I think folks call ‘em railroad spikes. Mine came with the banjo, but you can install your own. I love ‘em because they make it so much easier to play in different keys. Especially when using a capo

Question? Do you need a certain type of Banjo to Clawhammer or can you use any Banjo
@StevePlaysBanjo24 күн бұрын
The five string banjo was kinda made for Clawhammer. It makes it real easy to break those quarter notes (hammering) in half with that higher, droning thumb pluck. Of course there’s a bunch of exceptions to the rule, but I’d say that’s a good starting point. Besides that, brand, materials, open/closed back doesn’t affect the playing style. Everything else is tone.

Dude, I was going down memory lane on KZread and found an old band video of mine (Every Alice On Earth doing the Femmes “Jesus walking on the water”) that you commented on and so came here and, nice playing, man. I learned Scruggs style back as a teen and am trying to get into it again. But what I’m really interested in now is clawhammer and I can’t find a local instructor, so thanks for these videos. And, I’m only half promoting myself, but I thought you might get a kick outta what I did to the drum head: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oJeN2Jexgd2ed7w.htmlsi=qieqi3UTPW37d7lz
