ASSALMUALAIKUM WA RAHMATULLAHI WA BARAKATU, brother Khalil. This was a riveting lecture, one of the best I’ve heard. I’m a relatively new Shia … your lectures are a huge benefit to me gaining knowledge, especially about AHLULBAYT (AS).. and others from the Shia perspective . May ALLAH reward u and your loved ones abundantly in this world and infinitely more so in the hereafter. JAZAKALLAHU KHAIRAN. ALLAH HUMMA SALLE ALAA MUHAMMED WA AALE MUHAMMED WA AJJAL FARAJAHUM.. 🤲🏼🤲🏼🤲🏼💐💐💐💐

100% agree with the brother. I have genuine question... which of our Imams beat their chest for Imam Hussain? If none of them did this beating ritual, then can we not conclude that this is an addition we have made to azadari, and that it doesn't have spiritual benefit?

The answer to your question is simple brother. The martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S) was foretold by Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S) . The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S) himself wept bitterly when he was informed about the martyrdom of grand son by Jibraeel Ameen on the 03rd of Shaban . I think this should suffice.

mohammed hadi brother if you read what i have asked, i have asked about beating chests, not about crying... weeping and crying are traditions of the Prophet and Imams. Can you please answer if beating chests, using chains, knives, and swords to your head, are also their traditions? If the answer is no, then this aspect of azadari is man-made.

HGDuas The answer is YES my friend . During the battle of Uhud , when Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S) lost one of his teeth due to the attack of a shield , a companion by name Owais Al Qarni broke all his teeth using a stone out of profound grief . The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.S) upon hearing this prayed for him and blessed him for this action . It was this time when Banana(fruit) came into existence . Besides these there are lot more historical facts suppoting the action of performing Azadari .

mohammed hadi I don't see how the incident of Owais Al-Qarni is comparable... it was a ONE time incident, not a ritual conducted every year. Furthermore, the question still remains UNANSWERED, did the IMAMS (emphasis on IMAMS only) commemorate the tragedy of Karbala by beating their chest (underline beating their chest and using knives etc)? The answer remains no - if yes, then please cite ONE hadith to support this. We only have hadith which show they cried and remembered the tragedy. If we accept that none of the imams beat their chests, then we are left with the same conclusion, it is a man made custom.

mohammed hadi furthemore, not that this is related, bananas are as old as 5000 to 8000 BC, and originate from west Africa, please go read about the history of bananas.
