  • @TechJunky777
    @TechJunky777Ай бұрын

    When you press force defrost (Fd) the refrigerator will turn off and the heating element in the ice maker will turn on. It’s a subtle sound. There should be audio through the speaker if your sound volume is turned up. Check in the settings menu for sound volume. Regardless, the heating element should be on when you press Force defrost (Fd). I suggest running for 5 minutes then pressing test cancel and then restarting Force defrost (Fd) …. Do this over and over until it finishes defrosting. It seems to be warmer and defrosts faster with this method. Let me know how you do! Edit: when you are done you can manually stop Force defrost (Fd) by pressing test cancel. That will restart the refrigerator and the ice maker and everything will run like it did before.

    #3 is the one that defrosts the ice maker only! I’m not sure how it could defrost your lower freezer as there is no heating element in there. So, where's the "fix"???? This is a recurring issue on most Samsung's. If you want to fix the problem, which is caused by faulty seals surrounding the ICEMAKER, then do a search . There's one video in particular that actually does fix the problem whereby the appliance tech (username "The Appliance Guru") takes you step by step through disassembly and the actual "fix" using aluminum tape to seal off the seams on the inside of the icemaker. The root problem is condensation from the internal air temp of the food compartment (41 degrees F-ish) leaking into the ICEMAKER where it's minus 1 or 2 Degrees F- ish. This causes the internals to produce ice on the surfaces and what you get is what you see in this video. My fridge didn't develop this problem for the first 3 to 4 years and then suddenly, wa-la, my ICEMAKER was stopping up with surface ice. As an engineer myself I can understand and postulate that the seals surrounding the ICEMAKER, likely some kind of liquid sealant, will break free of the two surface due to thermal expansion and freeze thaw cycles over the years of operation. Trust me, the aluminum taping of the internals worked for me and it will work for you.

  • @TechJunky777

    In my description I have a link to Samsungs actual service bulletin. It’s a known flaw and Samsung was sued for it. My fix is temporary but a permanent fix involves more than just sealing the unit. I’ve pasted my link here for you… www.classaction.org/media/samsung-service-bulletin-ice-maker.pdf

  • @btomas225
    @btomas225Ай бұрын

    @@TechJunky777 - Yes, I knew about the class action lawsuit. Many have already reported that the factory fix doesn't work either. It's expensive to implement and involves the use of an RTV sealant that again fails as it detaches from the surfaces over time. In fact the fellow in the video I describe above is seen removing the sealant that the factor fix instructs you to install. It too fails over time. My ICEMAKER got so bad that I couldn't go 4 to 5 days without clearing an ice cube jam at the top of the icemaker. I did the fix as described in that fellow's video and have been jam-free for nearly a year now with a very rare recurrence every so often. My family uses a lot of ice.

  • @TechJunky777
    @TechJunky7772 ай бұрын

    If it is really frozen then it will take possibly more than a few runs to get the tray out. Once the tray is out put your hand up into the ice maker and you should feel the warmth of the heater. It seems to be faster and warmer if you run the force defrost and then manually press test cancel to stop it after 5-10 minutes and then run again…over and over until everything is melted. Also check to make sure you are running Force defrost FD not RD(rear defrost). RD only defrosts the rear of the refrigerator.
