What are the producers smoking? Flinders Street is not even close to being the busiest railway station in Australia. Pre-COVID yearly passenger numbers in 2018-2019 were 28.3 million. Southern Cross had 25.8 million pass through in 2018-2019. During the same period, Sydney's Central Station had 85.4 million passenger movements. Add both Melbourne stations together and they are still 30 million plus passengers short of Central's numbers. Town Hall and Wynyard are also busier than any Melbourne stations with 48.5 million and 33.5 million respectively even in a post-COVID downturn. More people pass through Central and Town Hall each year than ride the entire Metro and V/Line networks. Not surprising though given Melbourne's preference for trams over trains.

I just go to the pub. Not Young & Jackson's (across the road) that's dear as poison & full of cashed up boomers. The Oxford Scholar in Swanston St or The Last Chance just up from the Vic markets. Wait for the crush to thin out and go home about 8pm. Often the line's back up by then.

I stop at flinders a few times a week, never concidered that it was all that chaotic. It doesn't feel any busier than Celtral Station or Southern Cross.

Melbourne Metro Trains: the infrastructure direly needs replacing in some parts, sometimes Train Replacement Busses are regular part of the service, some services might be late or even cancelled, and extra trains will definitely improve service. However, to all the staff members, from the control room, the customer service, drivers, cleaning staff on train and at the maintenance depot, to the track maintenance staff members, I would like to say good on you and thank you for all your hard work.

This is a wonderful series, and for understandable reasons it cannot film everywhere and while taking nothing away from Flinders Street- which as a Melbournian is far better than Sydney's stupid coathanger and failed sails Opera house- it's not really factual. Flinders Street is absolutely is not the busiest in Southern Hemisphere. Singapore MRT's alone on Orchard Road not including Malaysia KL or Thailand Bangkok would be far busier. In Indonesia, where Dutch laid little rail vs British and what little there was not critical was scrapped by Japan, due to severe traffic- rail-line was slowly but steadily rolling out. There used to be trams in all the main cities- tiny European style ones, not big Melbourne ones- sadly all gone scrapped by Japan or the war. BUT possibly light rail making a comeback with tunnel technological skill gained from Japan (building Jakarta-Surabaya Shinkansen), vs the completely unrequired coffin on rails CCP Bandung Jakarta high speed. By 2013 in a state of severe decay it KAI (State Rail) rail had 221.7 million passengers, by 2019 after a big push to modernise and be self-sufficient under Yudhoyono in a joint-agreement with Japan in rolling stock, signalling, rails, precast sleepers, modern automated track-laying etc it was 429.2 million passengers. In 2019 Jakarta Light Rail had 380 million. As for the 3rd world pornography of subcontinent like losers, freeloaders and dckheads free-riding on the outside- enough lethal anti-rider obstacles had stopped all but the few suicidal. No one cares about train surfers- tickets are cheap and even cheaper for the registered poor. An idiot trainsurfing being killed won't stop that train, but there'll be automobile based rapid clean up crew. A Jakarta train a fatality stop will at most delay for 30 minutes- thousands of passengers demand going home and as there are many police onboard- to prosecute antisocials especially thieves and gropers- it's fairly rapid to pick up their remains, clean the train superficially, fill out paperwork and move on. The new Japanese safety systems are working well- the disrepair and rampant corruption 1998-2000's has been minimised. It is hoped Australian expertise in very heavy cargo rail can be bartered for Indonesian airconditioned light rolling stock- so all aboard rail lookong very positive in Australasia-SE Asia. Flinders St, sadly is missing the bagpiper.

Um, you are wrong. You can just Google facts instead of just talking nonsense. Flinders Street train station is the 7th busiest train station in the world and the busiest train station in the Southern Hemisphere. The program is correct.

Just be thankful you don't live in a shithole like adelaide or sydney. Trains in adelaide are unreliable and don't cover much of the metro area. Sydney is just basically a dirty shithole like London and New York and only has half the number of lines Melbourne has. Travel around Australia and you'll see that Melbourne wins hands down with Perth in second place.

Melbourne has the oldest, largest and busiest Metro Train Network in the southern hemisphere. Doesn't matter whether people bag the signalling or the private owned trains, Melbourne's metro train network is still the best. Its covers almost every suburb and no other city on earth reaches out so comprehensively the way Melbourne's 18 lines do. Melbourne also has the best and largest underground rail system in the southern hemisphere. Its simply the best.
