Congratulations to 140 years! Libraries are essential to the well being of their communities. A huge thank you to the trailblazers of the past as well as the current angels serving the diverse public on into the future - we are truly grateful!

When I lived in Pasadena (1960s), Santa Catalina Branch was my go to for all reading, especially the summer reading program! La Pintoresca was instrumental for early introduction to arts, when offered once a week--which was free.

I love the Pasadena Public Library system! Can't wait for the reopening of the Main Library Branch! But I am enjoying the other branches as well. So grateful for all of you! Thank you!

This is a beautiful celebration...so life affirming. I have to believe that free/public libraries will never go away -- to riff on Ted Lasso...Libraries are LIFE! Thank you so much for this. 😍

Her Debt-Free Spending Plan book is amazing! Complete common sense. My mother used the envelope method and was always on top of her bills, and her credit card was always paid off at the end of the month. JoAnneh’s method is a step up from that. I’ve just lost everything in a storage shed fire, 5 days after I left the house I was in. These two books are the first 2 books I want to replace,

Hi. I want to know if there is a formula for boxed corners in any size that make a perfectly square base? Ive seen heaps of boxed bag tutorials, but haven’t found one that describes how to get a perfectly square bottom - for toy bags etc for any size bag? I know I could sew a square into the bottom. But I don’t want to. Boxing the corners is so much easier. If only I could work out how to work out how to get a square base on any size. There must be a ratio but I can’t work it out myself as I have dyscalculia. 😢

Thank you so much! I found the original Modest Maven pattern but the pictures were a little too difficult to follow. This video was perfect!

Here’s my take on this tutorial. I don’t think this is a traditional french seam, but, I finished the bag and like it. I think it’s a little more work this way. But again, I’m glad to learn something new. 😊

I just made this into a Christmas bag. I cut my bag 14” x 18”. It turned out pretty good, not perfect. Love it and I plan to make many more as I plan to donate to the local Angel Tree. No complaints from this sewist. I appreciate the work you put into this tutorial. Awesome job! Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this tutorial. I am going to make coasters and then use the same patterns again to make a wall hanging. I have fabric, scissors and embroidery threads but have not yet been able to get the long Sashiko needles. Where do you get them please?

Written from the heart. My grief was much different, my father fell in our livingroom while playing his violin and I the piano. I was 34. My mother passed a thousand miles away in a hospital. My late wife of 20 years during the night in hospis in our livingroom. Only her death was expected, she called me from the hospital and said "I'm dying."

Great tutorial, but for reference to help those learning sewing terminology and techniques: the side seams are hong kong seams, not french seams!

I grew up having 'punch and judy' puppets. puppet shows are wonderful to see and enjoy. I visited the Bob Baker Theater in Echo Park before it moved to its current spot. I hope it goes on forever.

If you are concerned about your thread tail getting pulled out, try using a 2 or 4 hole button or a spring clip used in beaded jewelry for a temporary hold. With the button run your thread through the holes a few times to secure without knotting. With the spring clip just place a short length of thread between the springs. The spring clip can be purchased at any beadshop or a box store that sells beading materials.
