Kidding right? Stupid to show it not working without showing how to fix it!

Well rocketman - why don't you look at my replies. If you looked at any of them you would have seen that I could not fix it. The movment is worn out.

Wow, I'm having the exact issue with my newly inherited clock. Keeps time fine but hit and misses on the chime. I'd like to know what you find out! I can put a little pressure on the gear and unstick it ever time it doesn't chime and then it works well for about 3 chimes. Then sticks again 🤷

I have the same issue with my Ridgeway clock which I believe is the same movement as the Howard Miller video. Can anyone show how to correct this issue with the chime stopping one time around a four quarter sequence? The lever is dropping down and stopping it from chiming just as seen in the video.

I concluded that the movment was worn out, at least where the chiming is concerned. An old clock repair guy told me the same. They have bushings in the brass plate. If they are not lubricated and cleaned at somewhat regular intervals that do wear out. This was my MIL's clock that we inherited. It keeps time fine but it gets lost chiming. I may pick up another service for it, and install when I retire and get bored.

Well this was a wasted video with no explanation

Obviously you did not read the whole thread . . . I said "There is lots of slop in the mechanism that operates the chimes. I concluded that it was worn out. Probably needs bushings. The equipment to replace it cost way more than buying a new movement. I turned off the chiming because it was not working right and it irritated me. Will probably replace the movement one day."

We’re having trouble with ours, we just got a new movement installed and it won’t stop chiming.

I'm working on the same movement that's doing the same thing. Were you able to figure out the problem?

The only thing I can figure is your center cam star is worn causing the levers to not be lifted up enough
