It hasn't changed hugely, although the obvious differences are the hospital, the car park opposite national savings which is now a housing estate and national savings itself which has now been demolished to make way for new development. I always think it's a shame there doesn't appear to be any old footage or photos of the old Dryburn Hospital online. I remember there being a report on the local news about violence towards A&E staff that showed the inside of the casualty department. I think that will have been around 1996/7. It was definitely after the refurbishment of the department because the floor was white. I remember thinking that was an improvement on the old one which were very garish shades of green and orange. I think they moved back into the refurbished department around early 1996. I don't know if it's just me but I find those old style hospital designs fascinating even if somewhat dysfunctional. The way the corridors went round corners and up hills was quite intriguing. It would be great if there was some old footage or photos inside the old hospital showing this.
