Thank you for sharing. Is that microwave your own?
your music is too loud, I have hearing issues , great video though very helpful
Sorry about that! Thank you for watching <3
How did you create that power strip system?
I used command tape on the underside to stick it to the bed! I also used a couple extension cords. Hope that helps! :)
I wish I am good at study🙁
Got put in a de neve deluxe triple! How do I know if it's the transfer dorms?
Is this room smaller than other plazas or is it just the way the beds are set up? I feel like it looks so much smaller than other plaza triples I’ve seen!
I believe it's the way the beds are set up!
so dizzzy
Can you control the ac?? And would you say the ac is worth the cost for the deluxe?
Hi! Yes you can and I think it is! The deluxes are also bigger than classic halls so the extra space is a benefit.
One of the best dorm videos I’ve seen!! I know Holly is mainly a transfer dorm. How is the social scene in it? Also can you choose which number dorm you want or view? Cause this is beautiful
Thank you so much that means a lot!! It depends on your floor neighbors. It's less social than classic halls but it can be pretty social in the shared lounge. If you have a RSU (room sign up) time then you can choose the exact room. I'm not sure if entering transfer students have that, but if you've been at UCLA for at least a year as a continuing student then you'll have that option. Hope you're doing well!
hey! do these have AC??
Hi Anjali! Yes they do :)
LAvilla thank youuu🥰
Amazing view♥️⭐️
Thank you for watching Priyanshi! :)
Wow that’s so pretty
It's the best! Thank you watching Hyun! :)
Do we get to choose which resident hall we will dorm in as first years ?
Hi Melissa! Not your first year but you can select what kind of dorm (classic, plaza, suite)
The view at night is breath taking!
Couldn't agree more! I'd never get tired of it. Thanks for watching Hanna :)
Were you freshmen when you dormed here??
Hi Caroline! Yes we were :)
@@LAvillagirls hey thanks for replying! :D Im an incoming freshman assigned to a classic triple but I'm on the fence about mutually swapping into a private plaza, do you think I should do it? Was the whole "not as social as classic halls" conception true and did it impact the amount of new friends/connections you made?? I'm currently waiting for my financial award notice to see if this is even an affordable option but other than that, the social difference is also holding me back
of course!! If you mainly want to meet friends then I'd recommend a classic hall :) I felt it was true but if you or someone gathers a big friend group in your plaza building it'll still be ok! There were some students who were really good at that and they stayed in touch. I valued quiet my first year for studying so it just comes down to what you prefer!
@@LAvillagirls thank you for your insight!! :)
I realize this video is a few years old. But wondering if there are mirrors on the closet doors. Or other mirrors besides the bathroom mirror
Hi Sophia! In our room we only had a bathroom mirror so we brought our own mirror to put on the wall :) Some of the small wooden closets might have a mirror. Hope this helps!
Yes this was very helpful! Thank you
is a deluxe extra than the classic?
Yes
Did you have a lock on the top drawer of your desk? If so, where did you buy it from? Thanks!
Hi Marisa! Yes I did and I bought a lock similar to this one bit.ly/2R1FnDi :) Mine came in a set and I think it was from Target
@@LAvillagirls Could you please resend the new link for the lock for the desk. Thanks
the nice view is only for odd number rooms?
Hi Irene! Yes the odd numbered rooms overlook la and the even numbered face the other dorm buildings. Those ones still let in a lot of light :)
aww haha unfortunate. altho my friend who is in gardenia will be facing holly so we will probably communicate in morse code at night HAHAH
thank you for your response :)
Min and Viv, also curious to know if you have iFlux installed in your computers and if there is an agreement on when to turn all sounds and lights off for a good night of sleeping.
Hi Julia-Miguel! I don't think any of us had iFlux installed, it's up to everyone's personal preference! We all slept around 12am and whenever someone needed to sleep we just turned off all the lights, with the exception of a desk lamp. Or we would go to the shared lounge to study instead. :)
Hi Minnie and Vivian. I've noticed the craze for Xmas lights around the beds at UCLA dorms. I'm curious to know if you guys have an agreement to turn them off at, say, 8:30pm so that all calm down their bodies for a good night sleep.
Hi Julia-Miguel! We didn't have any agreement about turning off the christmas lights, they're not too bright so its similar to having a desk lamp on. The light itself shouldn't disturb anyone's sleep because there's no blue light :) Hope that helps!
@@LAvillagirls yes! Thank you this helps. How did you hang the mirrors?
Hi Sophia! We used command tape strips and they can be found at Target!
This is my dream school please give me pointers
Hi De'Shana! For some background, what area in the US do you live in? are there any specific questions you have? I'm not exactly sure what part of my application got me into UCLA but I had 4 B's and the rest were A's in high school, and I did do extra curriculars. :)
LAvilla sc and if I make an for the rest of my life will I make in UCLA is UCLA fun is it a beautiful campus
How many desks and closets come in the room? Also, can you rearrange the furniture?
Hi Audrey!! For a triple there are 3 desks, 2 larger closets and 1 smaller wooden closet. Yep, you can rearrange it as long as you move it back by the end of the year.
Are water, electricity included in the rent? Do you need to pay for electricity and water usage?
Hi! Yes all water, electricity utilities are included in the rent. You don't need to pay extra :)
Thanks!
Hello! Thanks for making this video, it was really helpful! I got put in a plaza private at De Neve Plaza, is my room going to be the same as yours in sunset village?
Hi Josephine! :) Thank you so much for watching!! Your room is going to look different, when you go in a De Neve plaza private, there will be the bathroom on the side and a large sliding door closet on the other side. It'll be like a small hallway and then the rest of it is your room. The window is in the middle instead of to the side and the beds are on the right and left side. There are some specific dorm tours for De Neve Plaza so hope that helps! :)
Hi!! I'm transferring to UCLA in the Fall! if you dorm with 3 people, is it "cheaper" to dorm? Please lmk. :) This is so cool!! your dorm is so cool!!!
Hi melmaevers! Congratulations and welcome to UCLA!! :) Yes it is cheaper to live in a triple. You can visit this link to see the housing rates! bit.ly/2FWVLhP Thanks so much for watching <3
Hi Minnie!!! I just saw your video again. UCLA recommended me to watch it and I was like OMG! I love the part where you put the view where you can see the beach. I'm feeling nostalgic because I'm transfering from Santa Monica College and I'm going to miss going to the beach and my professors. But anyways, I LOVE THIS!! Which dorm are you in? They told me to be in DeNeve. Is the Holly similar to a deNeve?
Hi Melissa!! Aww I'm so happy to hear that you love it! It's my favorite view!! You'll still be close to the beach and can visit SMC anytime :) Is it a De Neve deluxe hall? If so, it's very likely you'll be in Holly or Gardenia since it's common for those to be transfer dorms!
NAHHHH YOU REMINDED ME SO MUCH OF TWICE'S NAYEON I AM SHOOKETH
Where is that cool desk lamp from (on the desk under the loft)?
Hi MomtoZnE! Here's the link to the desk lamp: amzn.to/2BP2XPg It's from Taotronics and they've released newer versions since then :) Thanks for watching!
Do you get to choose what type of room you get? Or is it random? Another question, ^^ Do you get to choose if u have a private bathroom?LAST QUESTION do you get to choose your roomates and how many you have?
Hi FluffyDonut! For your first year, you list the types of rooms you want in order of preference. Some people get their first choice and some don't. After the first year you get to choose the exact room (room type, building, room number)! Yes you can choose if you want a dorm with a private, shared, or communal bathroom :) You can either choose your roommates or have them randomly selected for you. I have 2 other roommates, and including me it's a total of 3 people in a triple dorm! Hope this helps <3
WOW!
thanks mom :)
Thank you for the tour, you seem like an amazing person! Such a great way to use all those cords. I wish I could meet you in real life :)
lol Ege!! thanks for watching ;)
This was such a helpful video. I'm an incoming freshman and I was assigned the same style dorm in sunset village. Thank you for posting, and cute room!
Hi Jacy!! Welcome to UCLA! Thank you so much for your sweet words and I'm glad it helped :)
how is living in a plaza as a freshman?? i wanted a classic but got a plaza...
Hi Christina! I thought it worked out fine :) It is kind of quiet but you can always live in a hall another year or hang out with friends who do live in halls!
Hi! This is a great and informative video and I really enjoyed watching it. I will be joining UCLA this Fall as a freshman (so excited to be a Bruin!), and I also applied to live in a plaza, same as you guys. Just wanted to ask, did you guys buy the fridge or did it come with the room? if you bought it did you split the cost?
Hi Janhavi! Thank you so much for your kind words :) congratulations!! We bought the fridge, but you can also rent microfridges from the school. Yes we split the cost, but if you can, try not to split for any items as it gets difficult to figure out who owns what at the end. Hope this helps!
Oh I see I see. This is useful info. Thanks very much, once again! :)
Of course! If you have any other questions feel free to ask <3
I'm actually living in the sunset village this upcoming fall as a freshman, so I have a lot of questions! and this video helped a lot. 1. Who buys toothpastes, shampoo, conditioner(hygiene necessities). Do you guys buy a bunch and divide the pay? 2. Did you have any trouble or problem sleeping on top? (bunkbed) 3. How many cups/ kitchen utensils did you bring?(per person) Thank you!
Hi Hae Jin! Thanks so much for watching 💕 1. We brought our own toothpastes. For shower necessities I bought shampoo, conditioner, body wash and we split the cost. BUT at the end we started buying our own because of each of us would use vastly different amounts and each had different ideas of what price was acceptable. I highly recommend not to split the cost for anything 2. I personally didn't! and I think Vivian was used to it because she had the same sleeping arrangement at home with her sister. 3. Vivian and I each brought 1 cup, 1 bowl, and 1 of each utensil (knife, fork, spoon). I brought chopsticks and a few extra bowls so that my roommates could use them if they needed a bigger bowl, needed to refrigerate stuff etc. Long answer but I hope this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to ask 😊 - Minnie
thank you so much for replying! it really helps to get some of my questions answered
Of course! Happy to hear 😊
how much do u pay for the year to stay there ??
Hi Amanda! 😊 The price depends on your meal plan. Here's a link for this year's info: housing.ucla.edu/my-housing/rates-contracts-rules/residential-plaza-triple-room-private-bath-rates-2016-2017 I believe mine (as of last year) was around $14,000 because I was on the 14P meal plan. This year it will be around $15,000. Hope this helps!
thank u so much ily 😙
No problem!! lots of love 💕
you're from the bay area?? if so, me too!
+MyLifeAsLana Hi!! Yes I am! It's nice to meet you 😊
aw yay!! nice to meet you too! i subbed :D
Thank you! <3
No problem girl! What area of the bay are you from? I'm from the easy bay near oakland :)
are you guys siblings? because i am wondering if i could move to a dorm with my sister in a double occupancy room
+Flynn Allado Hi Flynn! We're not siblings haha, just good friends! I'm sure you could move into a dorm with your sister, just make sure to request each other on the housing application. Let me know if you have any other questions :)
awe thanks!
😘💕
How/where do you hide the fridge and stuff that you're not allowed to bring? Anyway, great job for this video! thank you so much! :)
+Nur Yasmin A. Rizal Hi! We actually didn't hide the fridge haha. I think you're allowed to have a fridge OR a microwave, OR get a microfridge. We put away our microwave during inspections, but other people who had theirs out didn't have a problem. Thanks for watching! :)
Would u not recommend incoming ucla freshmen to live in plazas? Cause halls for more social..?
+Katelyn Ngo Hi Katelyn! It depends on your preferences and personality. Are you very outgoing? Do you like time to yourself at the end of the day? I personally enjoyed living in a plaza because I was able to study comfortably in my room. During my first quarter it was hard to make friends, but eventually you find a group outside your living quarters. I wouldn't recommend against it necessarily. Let me know what you think!
+LAvilla I'm friendly and open but definitely not a social butterfly. I find that I like to keep to myself after being around people for too long.. my biggest worry is just not finding friends that I genuinely love in UCLA. I'm an incoming freshmen! P.S whats your major? I'm coming in for Human Bio and I'm so scared tbh
+Katelyn Ngo You might like a plaza! There are multiple, for example I heard dogwood in De Neve is more social and Courtside is so so imo. You can't choose specific buildings your first year but for later years you can :) I found two close friends. Not many but definitely genuine. If anything, feel free to hang out with me :) I'm (Minnie) currently majoring in computer science. I was nervous too when I first entered UCLA but everything works out, trust me!
Thank you for uploading this, I've been wanting to go to UCLA for a while, so I wanted to see what the dorms would look like :D
+CraftingxPanda :3 So glad to hear! Hope you'll be joining me at UCLA :)
This was very helpful
+CraftingxPanda :3 :) Thanks for watching! Happy to hear <3
How much do the plaza triple cost?
+xxkittycatgirlxx Hi kittycatgirl! The price depends on whether you have a shared bathroom or private bathroom AND your meal plan. Here's a link for this year's info! housing.ucla.edu/my-housing/rates-contracts-rules/residential-plaza-triple-room-private-bath-rates-2014-2015 I believe mine is around $14,000 for the whole year because I'm on 14P meal plan. :) Hope this helps!
did you get to move the furniture? Like the beds? Great video btw! :D
+Mayoyama Our room actually came like this! It's pretty different from the regular layout, but we're sure you can move the beds if you want to :) Thanks so much for watching!! <3
