Anyway, been a big coloratura fan since 2015. Because I obviously love good opera singers I sure hope you don't mind that idea because opera is such a rare niche genre. This is THE FUNNIEST / BEST-EVER version of this French aria I've EVER heard! While I'm blind, the spoken dialog makes the plot SNAP-OF-A-FINGER easier to understand! THe easy audience makes it cooler to listen to on top of your super honestly HOT (for lack of more vagueness) vibrato! Emma Matthews and Madý Mesplé both MILK this aria too. Madý's version literally sounds like she was autotuned on the staccato notes even considering the fact it was recorded in the 1970s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey, I've got perfect pitch. Oh and if you're wondering, there ARE several varieties of French bagpipes. My favorite is the Binioux which is a whole octave higher than the Scottish Highland pipes. You'd be able to hit those notes! I'm talkin' B-flat 6!

    My favorite soprano in the WORLD - Denise Leigh - introduced me to this aria from her 2003 solo album, which I didn't discover until 2018 (dating myself LOL). Nah, not really, I'm younger than you by 4 to 8 years ("Senior" as in "Senior Recital" at the bottom of your channel doesn't say which Senior you referred to, but I was a Freshman in highschool then LOL). I have a playlist entirely dedicated to amazing renderings of this piece, and because of your hot vibrato, you definitely qualified for that playlist. The old greats such as Rita Streich, Anna Moffo, Barbara Hendricks and Cristina Deutekom are just as amazing, but still you're not the ONLY modern soprano left in the world with an amazing presentation of this aria. Other than Denise, modern coloraturas like Elizabeth Sutphen, Abby Merke if that's her name, and Emma Matthews are all good too.

    As this adventurous Italian bagpipe nut / coloratura-lover surfs down your channel to discover some possible arias I've never heard before, I found this. HOLY MAZZILLO!!! THis is a hard aria to find as far as wobble-free sopranos. But, Sarah Coburn, Abby Raiford, Emma Matthews, Natalie Logan and Madý Mesplé are four of my favorite versions besides yours. BTW, Mazzillo is the best Italian bagpipe maker in history, and yes, there are such instruments as Italian bagpipes. It's too bad you can't put links in comments, but if you type in "Mazzillo Italian bagpipes" and filter it by playlists, you definitely should get at least a result containing his recorded music. He was fortunate to be recorded, let alone in good stereo, tragicly unlike Antonio Stradivari. And he's still survived by his two stepsons, elderly mind you, but they still make the best Italian bagpipes ever. I need to hurry up and get one before they DIE! (You think the fact they were being born in 1963 makes them old? LOL). Also, just in case you haven't noticed, spelling DOES matter. "Mazilo", "Mazzilo" and "Mazillo" won't work. Think "Green glass door".

    Surfing down your channel to discover some possible arias I've never heard before, this bagpiper / HUGE fan of yours found this. WOAH there Brooke: You know that your SUPER AMAZING version of this aria is one of only a handful of "good" versions of this aria I've heard? Tons of sopranos who cover this have the worst wobbles ever. Especially Damrau! Let me name you some great ones however. There's Emma Matthews, Cristina Deutekom, Erika Miklosa, Hannah Beth Alfaro, Lucia Popp, Rita Streich, Leah Krasilovskaia and Larisa Yudina.

  • @michaelkazmierskidunn7189

    Dear Brooke: To be honest, you're probably one of the best sopranos I've EVER heard in years. I discovered you just before this past Thanksgiving (2023) as I was trying to find rare and good (i.e. no specifically wobbly vibratos) sopranos. You're absolutely fortunate that you don't have that serious WOBBLE which I must confess about 90 percent most sopranos have. While I'm not a singer (I play the bagpipes haha... GO PETER HENDERSON the Stradivari!, and Mazzillo, Strad. of Italian bagpipes), I can usually tell if someone has a wobble because of their lack of their trill dexterity. Then again though, not every soprano with a specifically "hot" vibrato can trill that dexterously, so I've heard it both ways. But, I just wanted to say how much I find your voice just absolutely stunning, and very VERY rare to hear in the world of modern opera singers infested with the wobble-epedemic. I sure hope other people don't put you down for how, let's just safely say "hot", your vibrato is. I've known people who shun hot vibratos and prefer ice-cold wobbles, which I think is the reason why most people disgrace opera. But keep it up, you absolutely awesome coloratura! BTW, as a followup, I've reacdted to some sopranos on my channel. Haven't reacted to you yet but I'd love to.

  • @BrookeIva

    Thank you so much for your comment! It makes me feel appreciated, because I have definitely thought that I lack the modern "professional" sound of the big stages. You've made my day :)

  • @michaelkazmierskidunn7189
    @michaelkazmierskidunn71894 ай бұрын

    You're welcome!!!! Now I've heard countless young singers imitate their teachers' wobbles, and unknowingly they're doing quite the damage to their voice without even knowing it, instead thinking 'well, if my voice teacher is wise enough and they have this type of vibrato, I'll be fine if I get that exact kind of wobble they have.' This definitely explains why many young singers suffer from wobbles because of being absolutely misled. So there's that factor to consider as well. Again, I'm only a bagpiper, so this is based on some audible experience I have attending vocal recitals. As a personal taste I love vibratos 6.5 or above, and I still tend to think of a 6.0 vibrato as being on the slow side for my personal taste. See, bagpiping has finger-vibrato as opposed to air vibrato of course, and the faster finger-vibrato a piper has, the more dexterous their fingers are. Also, it puzzles me why a ton of people enforce slow vibratos! As you can tell by now I HATE wobbles. Fortunately though, I've counted up to more than 50 other amazing modern singers whose voices are just out of this world. One of my favorites is a blind British soprano, Denise Leigh, off her 2003 solo album she's got THE HOTTEST VIBRATO EVER. Since 2019 though, she's sadly retired. Another one of my favorites is Emma Matthews, basically Denise's sighted rival. Going more locally, I'm also a HUGE fan of Abby Fischer who just recently learned the soprano parts for Handel's "Messiah" Symphony last year. Of course I'm familiar with the super famous ones such as Cecilia Bartoli for example. Although there are a surfeit of sopranos most people haven't ever heard of with super hot voices too. Micaela Rebbs for one of these, Leah Krasilovskaia from Russia for another, Abbi Brundrett for a third, and Dr. Hanna Lee for a fourth one. If you'd like to hear some of these, I have a playlist I made where I reacted to a lot of these sopranos. Not sure you're allowed to put links in comments but if you look at the "Playlists" section, you should find one that talks about reactions, as well as some of my favorite sopranos for a few other playlists. Don't mind all the bagpiping playlists scattered in the list LOL.@@BrookeIva
