Sufjan Stevens is a singer-songwriter currently living in New York. A preoccupation with epic concepts has motivated two state records (Michigan & Illinois), a collection of sacred and biblical songs (Seven Swans), an electronic album for the animals of the Chinese zodiac (Enjoy Your Rabbit), two Christmas box sets (Songs for Christmas, vol. 1-5 and Silver & Gold, vol. 6-10), and a programmatic tone poem for the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (The BQE). In 2010 Sufjan released an expansive EP (All Delighted People) and the full length The Age of Adz, a collection of songs partly inspired by the outsider artist Royal Robertson. In March 2015, Sufjan released Carrie & Lowell. His most recent releases include Planetarium, an Oscar-nominated song for the film Call Me By Your Name, The Ascension (2020), and a collaboration with with Angelo De Augustine , A Beginner's Mind (2021). In Oct 2023, Stevens tenth solo studio project, Javelin, will be released.

This was very meaningful to me in 2020 when I was coming into adulthood and a growing into more political awareness. Very angsty time, a bit embarrassing. Still a good song.
This song made me cry and pray for my loved ones. We will all leave at some point if God allows it or until He comes. May they and I obtain mercy, may they repent and return to God to see each other again when Christ comes the second time. I am related to Sufjan, a distant cousin. I too make music and hope to hear him perform live some day. I don't know him, but we share our Greek roots. This song resonates with me as I watch so many areas of American life declining. Growing pains in this country continues. I'm starting to feel like this country will never actually reach full maturity..
