I had no idea about Mudee 2! Looks fantastic!!
I own several pairs and models of Freet shoes and have taken the insoles out of all of them. I might put them back in cold weather. Love the ground feel both walking and running.
Looking to use these for a law enforcement. Are they breable enough for 80 degree weather or will they be way too hot with the lining. I know you can not make claims about how long the sole will last in an urban environment but i hope that the lugs wouldnt wear down in less than 500 miles.
They are breathable but will be warmer than an unlined boot, especially in 80 degree weather.
@@FreetBarefoot thank you
Are the soles stitched?
No - it is not possible to stitch outsole for waterproof styles.
Hi, how well do these boots grip smooth surfaces, like store/ restaurant floors? Being in food delivery, you never know where you're going to end up, so a waterproof boot for rainy days is ideal. The boots that I currently have slip and slide on smooth wet floors, so I'm looking for a potential replacement that I can run around town in safely. Would these be a good option?
As there is a good rubber coverage on the Bootee 2 outsole (lots of smaller lugs), our use and customer feedback is that this outsole does have reasonable grip on smoother urban surfaces. Hope that helps!
Would love a comparison video or blog on the Mudee 2 vs bootie 2
That's a great idea, thanks! In the meantime: Bootee 2 is close weave water resistant BottleYarn material upper with same water proof lining system. Mudee has our advanced Microfibre upper. Same HillGrip outsole. Mudee is slightly higher on ankle; both with small dip at back of heel to ease pressure on Achilles. Mudee is waterproof a little longer because of microfibre. Bootee a little more breathable and lighter weight. Hope that helps!
Nice, and what song is this?
I really love my many Freets. I have almost every model because they fit my wide high volume feet better than other brands. Unfortunately, they don't seem to have the rear heel padding down for some of their leather shoes. Their unpadded leather shoes tend to rub and cause blisters. Their heel padded shoes are wonderful! This one isn't so comfortable and the Richmond is tortuous. I could live all year in my Feldoms and wear them all the time for walking, hiking, and shopping.
All noted and thanks for the feedback! Our new York 2 has a smoother micro leather backer to give a bit more comfort. Citee has a bit more padding and might be worth a look. We are just developing Richmond 2 at the moment and will have a think about what you say to try to improve this 😃
@@FreetBarefoot Thanks so much for listening. I have Citees and love them when I need something for work meetings. They're very comfortable.
Of course! That's great to hear about your Citees 😃
Love the mudee 1- best snow show I have ever owned got me through the whole winter and still look brand new. Used it as my daily and weekend snow and mud hike. Glad you are addressing the fit and ability to dry more quickly with this version. The mudee 1 has a bit too much volume for my feet, so this is perfect with thicker socks but that's mostly why it has been a snow shoe for me. Used it for hiking at below-freezing temperatures and my feet felt great. I'd like to try these out, but my mudee's might last a few more years first.
That's amazing to hear!! Thanks so much for the feedback, it's much appreciated 😃
Mudee was my introduction to you guys, will definitely be picking these up at some point. Also, I see what looks to be some white casual/sport mesh shoes in the background. When will those be available? I've been waiting for a Freet version. On another note, that Mountain Grip outsole needs to go on a Mudee. On the Calver it is phenomenal. Thanks
All noted. Big thanks for the feedback! We are doing all white Vibe for launch in November this year. MountainGrip is on Impala now. But noted about putting on a Mudee! Thanks again, much appreciated! 😃
looking for a barefoot grounding shoe
Noted - we have it in mind, but thinking through how best to do it. Thanks for letting us know!
Would love to see the urban sole on some more athletic models of shoes for better durability on concrete and black top.
Thanks for this! Your feedback has been noted. Our new urban sole will go on Vibe 2 (3 colours), Tanga 2 & Flex 2 which are all arriving in November 2024! 😃
That's just a Tundra with extra steps lol. Not that it's a bad thing the microfiber is amazing.
I think the Tundra is just over 1cm taller on the calf than the Mudee?
We absolutely love our microfiber too 😃
Ordered a pair today. They look great, coming over from vivo, which I've been wearing for years.
That's great to hear, we love Howgill & hope you love yours too!
How do you find them compared to vivo?
@@dap8362 loving them so far, I'm coming from a vivo boot so it's not a very fair comparison (boots are always going to be heavier and more sturdy) but in general fit and feel the freet are great. Too early to tell on wear but I've just spent a week pushing them up and down the cornish coast path with no issues. Also very quick drying. :)
@@andysands4695 thanks, do you think the knit upper is stiff enough for running, or will your foot slide around a bit too much, especially on descents if the ankle is sock like and doesn’t secure your foot/ ankle in ? Looking at these, feldom, or vivo primus trail. Thanks again, haven’t seen much feedback on these as they new so appreciate your help.
Good looking boot, and good concept for a seasonal transition shoe too. Think they’d be ideal when it’s not too hot or too cold 👍
Thanks for this!
Where are Freets manufactured please?
We have worked closely with the same partners in China for 15 years visiting our factories and suppliers several times a year.
The way he holds it is so precious and amazing
I love the care and soul you put in your products. I rather buy from you than from other more expensive brands
Thanks so much for this, it is something that is really important to us!
Where was this please?
It was the Barefoot Shoe Expo in Chicago, hosted by Anya's Reviews :)
Hey the shoe looks like a great replacement for my Tangas which are getting really thin in the sole, how do you have a water repellent shoe in a summer release tho? Is it about as breathable as the Tanga or less due to the membrane?
We absolutely love Howgill! Howgill is very breathable but not quite as breathable as Tanga (as you say because of the membrane). Hope this helps!
Is there a difference between shapes across your outsoles? They look so different on photos to eachother I worry they will not fit as well as my Tangas.
They are basically the same shape as every outsole can be used on all our lasts and all styles. Some of our shoes have more structured upper material (eg leather or microfiber) and lining than tanga so may feel a little different. Hope that helps!
How do the new models fit in terms of shape compared to the old bootee which was the best shoe I think I’ve ever had please?
More generous fitting. Good volume in the forefoot but improved fit at the heel and middle. Hope that helps!
I picked these up about a month ago- really fantastic shoes. Thank you for releasing these! I hadn't thought about using waterproof socks with these- I will give that a try if I go out in the rain or go walking in areas with excessive dew.
Thanks for this, that's amazing to hear how much you love Swale! Glad you like the tip - waterproof socks are a great addition for rainier days with Swale if you want to keep your feet dry!
A width comparison would be great. Narrow to widest. Maybe, measurements of insoles.
That's a great suggestion, thanks for this!!
If you guys had a sole that was more resistant to cement/concrete these would kill in the disc golf scene. We throw off of concrete pads but still need somewhat of a tread for outdoors. Usually most trail shoes treads are too spaced out and get worn down from the tee pads way too fast.
Thanks for this feedback! Our outsole HillGrip on Feldom and Howgill styles is quite a good balance between trail grip and durability. Hope that helps 😃
Great video. love the concept of this shoe. Two questions: Would the weave in this upper be susceptible to snags and tears on brambles whilst hiking? And also, is there a reason why the Swale has the stitched on upper and the Howgill doesn’t?
Thanks for this! 😃 1. Howgill upper very strong, tight weave which hasn’t had a problem in a year’s development and testing. 2. Howgill has membrane water resistance so cannot have a sidewall stitched outsole. Hope that helps!
Loving this shoe, it is indeed a good all-rounder, and currently, my main transitioning shoe for going 'barefoot'. Have my eye on a few of your other shoes/sandles...
That's great to hear, thanks!! Which of our other products are you interested in? 👀
@FreetBarefoot Will be investing in the Zennor at some point and probably the Howgill or the Swale. However, as the range keeps expanding, choices may change, but loving the company ethos too...
Does/will this come in black, too?
Yes we are planning on releasing a black version of Esk, but early next year.
@@FreetBarefoot Many thanks for your reply, friend.
Great looking shoe, nice to see a different colour way and a higher collar too 👍
Thanks - we are really excited about Howgill, it's a great shoe! 😃
Is the sole on the howgill and mudee the same material? Looking for something more durable on cement/concrete so I can use them for disc golf shoes.
Howgill outsole and Mudee outsole have about the same amount of durability on harder surfaces because there is more thickness of rubber on howgill outsole even though the lugs are more designed for softer surfaces than Mudee lugs. Mudee outsole is thinner so you may have a bit more ‘ground feel’. Hope that helps!
How thick is the waterproof membrane? Does it affect the inside size of the shoe compared to another model without membrane?
3-4mm thick. This style will feel a little more snug fitting than a style without the membrane. Hope that helps!
@@FreetBarefoot Thank you very much
Is that a sneak peak of the new Mudee design? Looks like it got upgraded with the hillgrip outsole. Looking smart, and similar to the tundra, which is no bad thing. Looks like it comes in brown too. LOL, my eyes spent some time wandering over all the Freet’s in the shelves behind. My feet thought they’d died and gone to heaven. Fab video, so amazing to hear all of this! A company with a great environmental conscience.
Yes it is, good spot! New Mudee both in brown recycled leather and black microfibre. Thanks for this great comment, we have many more videos like this to come so keep your eyes peeled!👀
I had no idea about the DWR coatings, thank you for the education on this and great to hear you're improving sustainability whilst keeping reliability and durability up there too.
Thanks for this, that's great to hear that you enjoyed the video & found it informative! It is something we are very passionate about 😄
Your leather shoes "Richmond" and "York" (suede ones) are wonderful, your rubber soles are great 👍, no slipperiness while walking on wet leaves or even icy/snowy ground. That's the reason each of us have one pair for indoors (kitchen and stairs) and another for outdoors. We still need leather sneakers with these perfect rubber soles for the gym! (To prevent health problems we use to avoid buying textiles which are labeled as "recycled textiles", for the outer as well as for inner parts. With allergies to f.e. wool even a minimum can become life threatening.) Greetings 👞👟
Thanks, that's great to hear that you love our shoes!
Great explanation of barefoot shoes and boots. Also loving some of the latest Freet styles too
Appreciate it, thanks!
What their names
Zennor is the sandal on the end. Next to Zennor is Tundra brown microfibre boot (brown outsole), then he’s wearing Ibex leather boot (black outsole). Hope that helps!
Just bought a pair in my usual 43. Will be returning ASAP. Too small. Too shallow in the toe box. Too narrow with the provided insert. I will stick with Vivobarefoot.
Vivo is more narrow / shallow than freet in the toebox. I can't wear vivos anymore because my toes hit the outer, but my freet are fine....
I was so excited for this one, then I realized it only comes in black. This is a warm weather shoe, it should also come in brighter colours both to match the season but also and more importantly to reflect the sun. Anything dark coloured gets scortching hot in Greece or other such places. I hope you release more colours soon. A desert colour would be ideal for this kind of shoe. Like the evolution of a chukka boot, but much more light and flexible.
Thanks for the feedback! We will do a sand/light khaki version for later this year. Hope that helps!
@@FreetBarefootWow really? That's very exciting. Nice!
Great to hear that you're excited!
What makes you decide which shoes get stitched soles and which shoes don't. I'm just genuinely curious
In another video he mentioned that the shoes with waterproof membrane cannot be stitched.
@@mamabear9389interesting, thank you
Thanks for your question! Our latest outsoles have the capability to stitch as well as glue. But this is only possible on non-waterproof styles (can’t stitch through the membrane). Hope that helps!
This looks nice indeed. What's the difference between this one and the Swale?
Thanks! Howgill has a little weather/water resistance and deeper, more grippy outsole for steeper/more muddy trails. Swale is more breathable with an outsole ideal for good trails and urban. Hope that helps!
Didnt know that Flea from red hot chili peppers is into barefoot shoes
Look forward to getting them here in Australia!
Great to hear that you're excited about them! We love them!
Great looking shoe! And I agree with the other comment - nice to see some colours coming through the ranges now 👍
Thanks for the feedback, we think this shoe looks great too!
It really is - keep up the great work 👍
It’s nice to see a bit of a color for the Howgill. I do like several styles from your website but the only thing keeping me from ordering is the lack of colors. I’m not a big fan of black shoes for myself. Hopefully you could do some colors soon. Nice styles though.
Exactly! A range of colors in the different models will be fantastic
That's great to hear that you like our styles. Thanks for the feedback on more colour options. Are there any colours for any shoes in particular you were thinking of?
Thanks for the feedback! If you have any suggestions of different colours for different styles please let us know!
@@FreetBarefoot black and Green for the Calver would be great, for example.
Which of your models has the widest toebox?
Thanks for your question! Esk, Swale or Keld would probably be best.
Oo nice 😁
They look fantastic for warmer temperatures. Do you plan to expand the color options? All black, green or blue based schemes will be great!
Thanks so much for this help on colours - I think the green could work really well, and we’ll try to include a second colour (or just change) if the product continues to sell well!
Can you please make this is pink and black?
Great idea and noted, thanks! What shade of pink?
Oo I love my Pace 😁
