GG

Hello and welcome to GG
My name is Ben and I love board games. When I retired from the military, I didn’t really know how to make friends besides work. So, I decided to embrace my nerdom and go back to playing games. It was an easy way for me to meet people who shared likeminded interests. As you can see I kind of went crazy on my hobby and now I have decided to make a gaming channel sharing with the community I love.
This channel’s goal is to build on the positivity of the community and support each other during these hard times. I want everyone of you enjoy the channel. I plan on doing review and gameplay videos. I am planning on having multiple points of view by playing games with the local gaming community, so if you are in Albuquerque NM and you see me ask for an invite. I am always interested in what others think of the game I play also it will help me with my people skills.

    Kinda surprised the cards aren't made of plastic, too... Think that was because of a belated crisis of environmental conscience, or did they just run out of PVC?

    The base rings are for the event that someone paints the mini’s/base. That is still a rare case I believe that the vast majority of customers WON’T go to that extreme of painting, but that’s what the rings are for after all. In terms of the laser, yes there is a blocker inside the pointer so that it does not accidentally get turned on in transit. You have to remove the little paper tab and then reinsert the batteries to get it going. As for gameplay…AWESOME! I don’t have ANY other game that’s like this and has as much variety in it! I’ve played the suggested scenario (Control) for each map and beginner players. I’m super excited now to expand my gameplay to “bomb” and “hostage”, with full teams of characters, hidden operators, and full rules. #SuperExcited Great game, unfortunate publisher…

    I am having fun with it. There's something about it that everyone I have been playing with likes about it. Something about Skyrise reminds me of an easier Brass, but it doesn't play like brass.

    I am sure you already figured it out, but there is a barrier between batteries in the laser pointer you need to remove for the laser to work.

    That intro was pretty funny 🤣 I will say that the mat is big enough that the folding isn't that bad at all and the creases will smooth out pretty easily. Also, the gameplay itself is awesome! One of the best 😎

    For anyone who's interested and wants a deeper experience, The Samurai Trilogy is an adaptation of the novel Musashi, by Eiji Yoshikawa. Like the movies, it's highly romanticized, but it's a wonderful novel, if you can find it ( the publisher, Kodansha, is out of business). The hardback edition is a physically amazing product (amazing Japanese publishing standards make the book a joy to actually touch). The paperback is unfortunately lower quality. I'm glad you like the game! I love it too. 😊

  • @GenjiGamer
    @GenjiGamer4 ай бұрын

    It is higher romanticized just like the tale of Genji. I am not sure if that is just the style of Japanese writing of "historical" stories. The samurai trilogy is something I enjoyed watching with my dad back in the day. I might have to try and find the book now. Thanks for the info.

    Good points, but this game and lorcana are too simple, kid-friendly. I already play some one piece and I will play lorcana with my nieces. But I'm sticking to MtG and Dragon Ball Super Masters, which are very strategic, more interaction, and thematic feeling, rock on!

  • @GenjiGamer
    @GenjiGamer4 ай бұрын

    It's a hard balance to make a simple game that can add strategy. Lorcana is getting better with larger card pools. The first few expansions pure agro is king. Burn/weenie decks were MTG simple decks. It's too early to tell and SW is a very popular IP. There's so many bad SW games that people love due to the IP. I stopped playing MtG because it got too competitive, toxic and stressful. I just want to have fun and hangout. It is the big reason I went heavy to board games. GG

  • @tcgmetaslayer4202
    @tcgmetaslayer42024 ай бұрын

    Bandai has mastered simple gameplay with strategy with One Piece and Digimon. And There's no way Lorcana will ever match magic in terms of sheer complexity-- there are no instants, fast effects, and character abilities that activate, etc. But as a casual game I play with nieces and nephews, it's perfect. Also, if you look at all the big youtubers for Lorcana, they all push competitive tournament this and tournament that, which also turned me away. And I don't know if you realized but over the last several years MtG's most popular format is casual commander! Also, lorcana is already getting too competitive. I went to three locals last weekend and I asked lorcana players to play with some of my casual decks, they refused and said competitive only so..... I just played casual MtG. that's been my experience lol @@GenjiGamer

  • @GenjiGamer
    @GenjiGamer4 ай бұрын

    I agree that Lorcana is getting competitive. It's the nature of TCGs. It's still too early for me to decide if I want to continue with Lorcana. The price is getting better on the second hand market, but the aggressive release schedule makes the game a money sink. SW unlimited will probably be sealed for me. The only card game that I have really enjoyed has been Arkham Horror LCG with my friends.

  • @tcgmetaslayer4202
    @tcgmetaslayer42024 ай бұрын

    Cool, yes I played some Arkham and played the whole LOTR coop too! You're also right about Lorcana having too aggressive of a release schedule and ridiculous aftermarket price. I've kept my budget for all three sets so far under $180. Going to keep that as low as possible and probably only commons and uncommons the rest of the year.@@GenjiGamer

    Yes indeed, it felt a bit cluttered and I feel like it was better if they made a sheet or something to know what is an Expension or kickstarter exclusive or kept it seperate.

  • @GenjiGamer

    I don't mind them putting the expansion in the same box. There is a lot of waste packing that adds to cost and environmental damage. I just want a packing list with orders.

    Thanks for your thoughts. To clarify the upgraded premium sugars in Cask Strength already include the additional 1 money cost on the cards. For example, the base game Rice card costs 2 money, and the upgraded Rice card (with the new power) costs 3 money. Hope that helps.

    If you pledged for Satchel edition from Kickstarter, the digital comics were part of the pledge. The story is good, even great, and it is wonderfully drawn. And I belive anyone who has not read the comic is missing a lot of lore. I don't think it is possible to make it fit in few pages of the rulebook or anything like that. Although, anyone playing Mind MGMT and having not read the comics, will be completely befuddled by the lore as well.

    This was world class helpful. I’m new-ish to Arkham and was wondering if some other people I game with would be interested in Earthborne Rangers as they would prefer that theme over Cthulhu. Based on your detailed comparison: no. No they would not. If you keep doing this format, adding section timestamps would be awesome. Would help with targeted rewatching, given length. 🎉

    Glad it helped. Looking back after a long debate with Jason (who loves the game) he agreed with me, but still thinks that earth born rangers is better game than Arkham horror. He also loves marvel champions which is another game I find dull. I will give earth born rangers another try when the expansion comes out.
