Hello! I'm McKenna Rain, the designer and creator behind Palm Creative! I’m a 29-years-old who loves to read, create, drink way too much coffee and go thrifting! I just moved back to the PNW after living in Los Angeles for the past 7 years. I now live in Seattle, WA with my husband and 3 furbabies!
Palm Creative started in 2019 as a print shop along side my photography business and evolved during the pandemic into what it is today!
Everything is handmade by me in my little pink studio. I try to focus on positivity, mental health, lots of color and making things that make me happy and hopefully make you happy as well!

I haven’t purchased sticker mule yet but was gonna get something eventually. After I read this email I just unsubscribed… like personally don’t support either party. Either way America is doomed. It was unnecessary to send that. Could have just did the deal. The fact after they said that, they tried to sell you something like what??? 😂😂 Don’t blame you on how you feel. Like they doing too much. Love your videos!! Love how real you are about everything. Keep up the great work and content. ❤❤❤
I just want to say that I’d been confused as to why I wasn’t seeing your posts on IG and I just went and checked and I had to follow you again. This has happened to a few other businesses too so make sure you’re keeping an eye on your follower count and if you see that people who usually interact with your content as stopped interacting.

I got that email too and immediately unsubscribed too. I 100% agree with you on everything you've said and done. I don't what others think or do. Just as longs as there's respect and kindness.
I feel you so much on the 'i should find a niche' ... I love to make so many different things, and maybe that keeps my business from growing ... i think the magic is to find a good balance, teach us when you find it! 🤣🤣🤣
I feel the same way! I don’t want to pigeonhole myself because I’m interested in so many things and I just want to share that with other people! Lol

I would NEVER mix my political views with my small business! So crazy! I really don’t care what peoples views are. I like people for them, no matter what they believe. We all have our own beliefs. You are right, very scary times. In my 56 years I have never seen so much craziness as what is happening now. I enjoy your content and I have started my own channel because of inspiration from you. I'm just starting out as a small business which focuses around my indie fantasy novel. I was looking into them because they seemed like a good place to get so many items I'm thinking of making for character art; however after this I do not see myself buying from them. Saw the email as underhanded and manipulative.
I was floored when that email came through. I sent them an email stating, “As someone who does not affiliate their business with political party, entity, etc. I’d only like to receive correspondence from your company regarding your product catalog offerings.” I’d thought they’d been hacked based on how unhinged it was. Then their responses to the comments on their page as people were commenting, led me to further think they’d been hacked. I was in denial and total disbelief that they thought that was ok. They’ve really affected soooooooo many small businesses that rely on them. I’ve been researching other manufacturers for some of my custom needs that sticker mule does for us (poly mailers and tape). Truly unprofessional to use our emails for their political voice. I ordered some stickers from Sticky Brand last week, but haven’t received the order so I can’t speak to them. I only ordered them because they were running a sale, but I usually make stickers in-house, except for the few I ordered from Sticker Mule in the past. I need to get up and clean my studio/office as well😩 And I need to add some new items to my faire. I hope y’all have a great Friday!
SM sent that link as a text message and an email. They are out of their minds. I also think that violates their Terms of Use policy. In any event, they got dragged for filth up and down Twitter. DESERVED. Immediate block and unsubscribe to them. I saw a lot of good alternatives suggested. Sticker Ninja, Sticker App, the Sticky Brand, Vograce (they do lots of cool stuff at lower quantities), Cat Print, and...more I'm forgetting. ETA: lmao I need to stop commenting before watching the whole video.
I didn’t receive this email but I got another one maybe 2 weeks ago, saying that that founder of sticker mule was receiving death threats as were some of his employees. I didn’t like the tone of the email and also it further stated that he gave employees bonuses in a “how great am I” kind a way as if that would help keep his employees safe. He also mentioned that some employees were for Trump and some were for Biden. I got a weird impression by his language that the Democratic employees didn’t receive these bonuses. Anyway, I feel the same way as you about professionalism in business practices. I have ordered from them in the past but seeing this email you got, I won’t use them again Seriously who sends out emails like this?!😮
Agreed! I’d honestly thought they’d been hacked how crazy it sounded. Then on IG, they were talking about the death threats, but the examples they had in their stories were definitely not those kinds of threats whatsoever. I use them for a number of things for my business, so I’ve been researching for alternate manufacturers. It was so unprofessional of them.
I also have a faire account and it is very confusing. Thank you, for the recommendations, I will not be ordering from sticker mule.
Also, I love your Washington/PNW stuff from the launch, but I'm about as far from there as you can get! Also also, Taco with his belly up is ridiculous.

Could you walk us through a multi-day event process some time? How much inventory you prep, how you close up/what you take down at night, do you get insurance? Etc.
Wow, I was going to give Sticker Mule a try but that was just so unprofessional of them.
Yeah and they started posting customers personal emails on twitter/x that said they thought what they were doing was disgusting. They've been posting worse now too BIG yikes and so unprofessional!

For sure! I mostly wanted to make sure people knew because I had no idea they were like this until I got that email and then went looking at their social accounts.
Congrats on reaching your big goal!! I'm publishing my first book in a few weeks and Sticker Mule was suggested in a few groups I'm in. I hadn't gotten around ito doing any research on them I'm soooo happy they saved me the hassle.
I could say a lot more but, I should shut up. HMMMM... relax, everythings going to be ok..breathe..lol

I mean WTF. Clearly unprofessional. I think I would be irate if I received that in my email. As a Canadian, I see the amount of aggression and hostility that is happening there. The situation there has even divided my household. The erosion of women's rights and human rights in general is unnerving.

Congrats on 1000 sales!!! You definitely earned it! On the bright side, you have a lot of stock and wont need to SUPER stress about future markets! That's always how I look at it when I don't do well at markets, like well at least I don't need to do a ton of restock for future markets.
I had my moment of sad and now am totally on the bright side of it for sure! The not having to do a ton of prep for the next couple is making me so happy haha

Do you accept card payments, what do you use?
I do! I use Shopify POS and purchased their cheapest card reader! You can also set up tap to pay on your phone if you don't want to buy the reader and can enter cards manually. It then filters in with the rest of my shopify sales. I really love that it all connects!

I know this video is from a few months ago and you probably figured it out, buttttt if not, have you tried using a pressing pillow when you press your tote bags?? I used to get SO frustrated, then found those and they were life changing! They usually apply just as easily as t-shirts with the pillow. It helps with all the thick seams and making things more even across!
I have one but it still has the same issues haha BUT I did find a solution its just super silly haha I changed the temp to 290 and do 3-4 presses at 11 seconds each and now its perfect but I have no idea why 😂
Congratulations!! I'm at the Mount Vernon Farmers market. The crafter's section doesn't do very well and there isn't a lot of foot traffic
Ooo good to know! I've done another Bellingham Makers Market that was at the Bellingham farmers market and it went pretty good but haven't done a ton of other events up there yet.

Thank you so much! So I mostly just returned the doubles of the booth stuff - like the 2nd tent, table and display stuff since I am not planning on doing a double up again anytime soon. But I think I will hold onto the blank apparel I havent used yet since I know i'll be doing more of them for the next few markets! :)

Girl you need some blinds or curtains for those windows. That will help with the heat. Also can you move the heat press to the living room and press out there just for the summer months?

I press in the mornings or in the evenings. Texas heat is ridiculous, we have been under heat advisories. Our temps are in the 90s but feel like 110+ and this is just the beginning 😂

16:48: Hey, there. I am new to pop-up events. Does anyone know the fee for this event? What is the average rate for a two-day event in this area?
This one was INSANLY HIGH like the highest I have ever paid I think it was $550. I wouldn't recommend this one to someone starting out or really anyone it was way too high and not enough foot traffic for how much they said it would be well attended. I've done several events that are 2 days for way way less. Prices vary depending on the event type but I've done events from Free to this one being my highest. Good luck on your market and business journey!

Hi! I just found you! Thank you for being so real and transparent. As a small business myself I have a hard time and always compare my numbers to bigger small businesses or other types of small businesses that I shouldn’t compare so much that it makes me feel like I’m not doing good. The scale of their business compared to mine aren’t always the same and I have to remind myself that 1.) I need to be more active on social media and 2.) need to just focus on my own numbers and goals and not wish I was like the other businesses I follow. Everyone starts somewhere right?? Glad you made your booth and AirBNB expenses back!
