Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles
Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles
Discover Pennsylvania’s Transportation History at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles! See vehicles of all types: gasoline, electric, and horse-drawn, including carriages, wagons, and sleighs. You will see ‘high wheelers” and “safety bicycles,” vehicle builder’s tools, and local historic roadside architecture. The museum is housed in the former home of the Boyertown Auto Body Works, which had continuous operations on this site from 1872 - 1990, and retains the factory setting, making it a unique and interesting setting for the vehicles.
Our featured series, Bumper to Bumper, brought to you by the Curatorial Staff at the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles, will showcase our vast collection and highlight some unique and rare pieces that we think you will love. Each episode will air on the third Friday of each month.
This channel is still in it's infancy! Thank you for your support!

The plant was on Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore, which is RT. 30. My great-grandfather worked there in the 1920s. They built military vehicles, tanks I believe, during WWII.
Passengers as dash-board. What an interesting idea!

From the interwebs :"The first person to build a working four-stroke engine, a stationary engine using a coal gas-air mixture for fuel (a gas engine), was German engineer Nicolaus Otto. This is why the four-stroke principle today is commonly known as the Otto cycle and four-stroke engines using spark plugs often are called Otto engines"
Dang that blue beastie looks beautious!
Ugh.....Not knowing what "The Palestra, often called the Cathedral of College Basketball, is a historic arena and the home gym of the Penn Quakers men's and women's basketball teams, volleyball teams, wrestling team, and Philadelphia Big 5 basketball." is!
I always enjoy your presentations!!
Thanks for tuning in!!!
Soo im doing research for a book I'm writing about Pennsylvania and motorcycle and this helped tremendously in research. Did you know light wasn't the only motorcycle manufacturer in pottstown there was also Mayo Damper Co. Building them
We cannot wait to read your book! We actually do have a Mayo Damper bicycle on display. Another interesting Pottstown company!
Great video, thorough. Grew up in Oil City and fished pithole with my father as a child.
It is a really cool collection at Shively Motors. And - there is a really good road to road-trip on - Fannettsburg Rd, and PA Rt 533.
Great content. Some Feedback: Please mention that Boyertown is in PA; in the beginning; not in the back end of the vid. The 50's Rock Music in the background is distracting, disturbing; &, NOT needed; it's NOT a good choice, in my opinion! Also, these were essentially the same company that, for many years, had gone through many changes, until the name was more simply, being licensed, after many years, when the originating company; &, its' derivatives had disintegrated. The word had original meanings; &, then took on, evolved meanings. An extended video tour of the museum; &, your town's other attractions, would be nice.
I had a customer decades ago who had moved to Atlanta to work in a harness shop. He had obtained sleigh bells antiques that he would bring in draped over his shoulders at Christmas. The quality of the bells was unforgettable…the most beautiful peel. Yes the trot of the horse would give a wonderful sound especially with the silence that snow creates. Merry Christmas
I am from that area and another interesting fact about Pithole is, John Wilkes Booth was up in that area and Franklin at that time trying to make money from oil. but when he couldn't he moved back to Washington DC to continue his acting. So maybe if he would have made lots of money from the oil industry he wouldn't have traveled to DC and shot President Lincoln.
In the drawings of manufacturing plants, the smoke coming out of the smokestack showed that the factory was working and producing goods!
IN the 19aughts and teens, it was such a big deal when a family took a car trip to the next town over - or even further - that it would be noted in the local newspaper.
Cool Beans!!!! Thanks LIsa!
WOW!!!!
Funny you talk about old car dealerships when some of the museum members went on an adventure to two old car dealerships today!

Most but not all US 19th century railroads typically operated on the right track where there were two, but then and now the engineer sits on the right side. Familiarity with railroads back then was such that it makes sense to me that some early automakers would copy that.
