What you see here is my attempt to share the beauty and history of Northern California's many public parks and hiking trails. The videos will focus on my home of Sonoma County and the greater North Bay region, along with occasional excursions to some of my favorite state and national parks. For those of you planning your own hike, I aim to provide information that will help you to maximize your experience. For those unable to experience these parks first hand, my goal is to bring the experience to you.
I am a 20 something husband and father of three. By day I work to make the world a better place one spreadsheet at a time. By night I am a cook, a mechanic, a house keeper and a jungle gym. I'm not a fitness nut and I never went to Boy Scouts. I'm just the guy next-door who decided to get off the couch and see what is out there. Join me as I take you from valley to peak.

Did this many times! Love this area!
Hi Adam, Thanks for the trail review. I am a moderate hiker. I am dropping my friends to go hot air ballooning. And, while we wait was debating between the Shiloh regional north ridge trail and the Foothill regional alta vista loop. Looking for something around 2 hours. Which in your opinion has the better views?
Nice video!
❣️
Nice vid? Also are you driving a 90s jeep Cherokee at the end? 🤘
Thanks for this!
Beautiful park, thanks for sharing!
If you did a fast-motion comedy-section in each video (like the swimming section, the highlight:-) then you could release one whole video of them.
Great video👍🏻
Thank you.
Thank you 😊
Hi Adam..I hope your still hiking!...I would like some advice and maybe a guide for the Sonoma area..answer back and I can get your contact info!
Thank
Around 2:28 when the trail becomes flat look on the ground for little twinkles and look up close on the ground where the twinkles are coming from the twinkles are Lake County Diamonds AKA Moon Tears, You can find a lot of Lake County Diamonds around that trail area
any fish?
Please do a show about Mount Konocti and also Sutter Buttes. Thanks
Great video in a favorite place of mine! Lassen Park!
Love this hike! Haven't done it in a while, though....your video inspires me to go back soon!
Great video! Was your goal to get the lake only or is there access to a near peak that you know of? Thank you!
Nice shots
My favorite time of the year to climb is when it snows. I put on warm running gear and run up to the south peak. When there is a good snow, youll get 6-8 inches. Ive run to the south peak in 33 minutes. Its a tough run. All uphill. The fun part is coming back down and slipping on the snow while running and taking a spectacular wipeout. It doest hurt that much do to the cushion of snow. At the peak on a clear day, you can see the Golden Gate Bridge and sea. Highly recommend this climb. Not too difficult.
If you hike at a brisk pace without taking any breaks, you can make it to the north peak in under 2 hours. I hiked to the south peak last week and did that power walk all the way up without a break and it took me exactly 90 minutes. Needless to say, I was hungry, thirsty and very tired by the time I got to the picnic benches at the top. Thankfully, the way back is entirely downhill, unlike the hike to Table Rock. People frequently underestimate the Mt St Helena hike. It will kick one's butt if the person hiking it is not in good shape.
I've hiked that mountain many times and enjoyed every hike. I have captured images of San Francisco skyline from the top. When it snows you might catch a bear track on the trail near the top. My trail camera has captured a bear near the trail head several times but since the fires that part of the park has been closed so I can't check to see if the bear made it. I sure hope they don't do as they did after fires took out Boggs Forest just up the road a bit. After two years it is still closed to the public. Thanks for this video. It will be interesting to compare it to whatever is left of the forest up there once the public is allowed back in.
Nice looking park. I've never been there because I can't bring my dog.
I live in Windsor
Now half is burnt in a fire😞
Really enjoyed your videos, hope you're still interested in making more! I'd love to see one covering the extensive Mt. Hood/Sugarloaf area
+Jimmy Harrison thank you Jeremy. I have two more recorded. I'm working on editing them now. The first will be Sonoma Overlook trail in the hills behind Sonoma. The next is Alamere Falls on the coast south of Point Reyes. I would definitely like to record in Hood and Sugarloaf. Thank you for the support. It's nice to know they are appreciated.
I really enjoyed your video. If you don't mind, would you compare the incline on this trail similar to Mount Diablo? Easier? Harder? I appreciate your feedback. Thank you!!
+Brandi Green Hi Brandi. Unfortunately I can't make that comparison because I have not been to Mount Diablo yet. What I can tell you is that the first mile or so before you get to the fire road is the steepest part. Once you get to the fire road it is a gradual but very steady climb. I hope that helps.
You Rock! Thank you for responding.
+Brandi Green let me know if you decide to make the treck up Saint Helena. I would like to hear what you think of it.
I am scheduled to go this Sunday! I am hoping to be on the trail by 6am. I would be happy to chime back!
Hey Adam! Wow! I underestimated this hike! Your video was spot on and helped me navigate my way to the summit. Thank you! I would definitely would recommend this hike in cooler weather. This weekend's temperature added to the difficulty of this trail. It is slow and steady upwards, with no relief! The panoramic views from the top were amazing. Thank you again for your video. I felt knowledgeable and it made my experience more enjoyable. Thanks! I look forward to more videos from you!
Great place to hike, grew up in Palo cedro, and spent many summers camping in lassen park.
+Brian there are so many good hikes there. I have only scratched the surface.
Adam on Foot and after Lassen there is always Mt shasta and it's surrounding areas. Happy Hiking brother.
+Brian that is true. I have driven by Shasta many times. I have never hiked in that area. Thanks for the suggestion.
Beautiful mountain!!
+tyler beach it absolutely is.
Group hike! That sounds fun!!!
+Lisa Israel spring is coming soon. There should be some great wildflowers out soon. Let me know if you have any suggestions. We can set something up.
Looks like a great hike!
+cooltoads One of my favorites. The trail is probably buried under about 10 feet of snow right now. But it should be great by the end of the summer. The lake will definitely be full this year.
Never been here yet. Looks cool!
+cooltoads I is a great park in the summer but you wouldn't want to go there right now. With all the rains we have been having the park is flooded. The county parks department posted some pictures last week of park staff kayaking through the parking lot.
Great map and loved the deer!
+cooltoads thanks. That pond attracts a lot of wildlife.
I made it to the south peak and next will be the North peak this Spring. I am in awe of the people running up the fire road too!
+cooltoads if possible, try to head up there shortly after the rain. The air will be fairly clear and the view much better. One of my goals this year is to head up there very early one morning in order to be at the top by sunrise.
Ah great idea! I didn't think of after the rain! Sunrise would be amazing I bet!
This is my favorite hike!!! I need to get to the top again though lol You captured the hike up awesome!
+cooltoads this I my favorite hike so far. I made it to the top three times this past year. If you have any trail suggestions please let me know. I have two more videos recorded and ready for editing and I'm looking to start recording some more this spring. If you know anyone else who might be interested in these videos, please share with them. I would love to get as much input as possible before I start my spring hiking/recording.
You should try Bothe-Napa Valley State Park, I worked there. It's known for the furthest Redwood stand inland open to the public. If you do, say Hi from JoeJoe to the people in the kiosk.
+JoeJoe Clark thanks for the tip. What is the best time of year to visit the park? Should I go now or would it be better to wait till spring?
Adam on Foot: My favorite time is in late winter-early spring, early summer, and fall. If you were to go right now Ritchey creek could be swollen, but there are ways around it. My favorite loop starts with Redwood trail, to the Coyote Peak Trail, South Fork trail, Ritchey creek trail - then back Redwood trail - totally about 3 to 4 miles loop. At one point there were plans to connect Sugarloaf State Park to Bothe-Napa because we back to back on the Sonoma and Napa county lines in the Mayacamas mountain range. Another nice trail is the history trail with a pioneer cemetery and Bale grist mill, where I had my wedding at. Spring is full of wildflowers: native irises, wood roses, and the beautiful/uncommon Calypso orchid. In the early summer, if you are lucky, you might see the rare Redwood lily, Lilium rubescens. In the fall, big maple leaves and black oak create a wonderful display of fall colors. I hope this helps. If you are interested of photos of the park, I have tons on my Instagram account: joejoeclark
+JoeJoe Clark thank you. I will look up your instagram. I will definitely be heading over there when the weather dries out a little.
JoeJoe Clark miss you buddy!
tyler beach miss you man, but I will be back!!!!! around May.
I love the way you shot this one, another great job!!
+Isaac Schneider Thanks. When are we going to do a hike together? Or are you getting tired of hiking? You have covered way more miles than I have this summer.
+Adam on Foot haha we have both covered quite a few miles this summer, I definitely still want to do a hike with you!!
+Isaac Schneider Jess is going out of town in a couple of weeks. Maybe we can do something then. Are there any trails nearby that you have been wanting to explore?
+Adam on Foot Alamere falls
+Isaac Schneider lets do it. Have you ever been there before? How long a hike is it?
I love the map!
+Aaron Schneider. Thanks. I had fun drawing it. There are a few things I would change if I do that again. Overall I think it turned out fairly well.
