Lyrics: Stop me, oh, stop me Stop me if you think that you've heard this one before Stop me, oh, stop me Stop me if you think that you've heard this one before Nothing's changed I still love you, oh, I still love you Only slightly, only slightly less than I used to, my love I was delayed, I was way-laid An emergency stop I smelt the last ten seconds of life I crashed down on the crossbar And the pain was enough to make a shy, bald, Buddhist reflect And plan a mass murder Who said I'd lied to her? Oh, who said I'd lied because I never? I never Who said I'd lied because I never? I was detained, I was restrained And broke my spleen and broke my knee And then he really laced into me Friday night in-out patients Who said I'd lied to her? Oh, who said I'd lied? Because I never, I never Who said I'd lied? Because I never And so I drank one It became four And when I fell on the floor I drank more Stop me, oh, stop me Stop me if you think that you've heard this one before Stop me, oh, stop me Stop me if you think that you've heard this one before Nothing's changed I still love you, oh, I still love you Only slightly, only slightly less than I used to, my love

Never understood why Noel said his solo was shocking because Paul Weller's is absolutely horrendous. You can thank Owen Morris for saving the song's solo section

Paul’s solo is improvised which I think was the vibe they were going for, but you’re right. Owen managed to tweak it in a way that works very well.

The vocal section is supreme. Clearly, Simon's new vocal style is the biggest factor in the success of this song.

It's missing some extra guitar soloing after the drum break - from about 2'15" to 2'29" in the original song. Also, no stacked vocal echo fall-off on "shooting a star...ar...ar...ar..." at 2'59". Still cool to hear.

I've been listening to this song for 40 years and never noticed that the chorus harmony vocal on the last syllable of "bi-ZAAAARE" (23:42) is well and truly bizarre. And it is definitely intentional because they do it every time but only on the word 'bizarre'. Way to sneak that in there, Simon!
