Very helpful - one question, how did you remove the carpet? It appears you had a hole to put your finger into. Did you cut a hole? My car doesn't have such a hole and I've been scratching at it trying to get a grip. maybe a molding paddle against the lip molding to pry it? I looked at another video and it appeared the guy had cut a diagonal slit (although the cutting step was left out of his video). That seemed like cheesy damage to the vehicle - unless some cars shipped with a cut in the carpet.
Hi Mike, thanks for your question. The carpet should be partially cut already and forcing your figures in to it should open it up. I've not seen it where it's totally sealed off or where you have to take to it with a knife. If you can't find the gap then pop down to your local Volkswagen Retailer who I'm sure will advise. Kindest regards, Nigel, VWGenuineParts.co.uk
Yes because everyone has a air compressor in their home
Hi Lee, we very much appreciate that nobody has a compressor at home but the idea of the video was for people to make an informed decision whether or not to tackle the job or leave it to a specialist. If you do decide to go ahead you would just need to use a bar and socket and torque wrench. Kindest regards, Team VWGenuineParts
My fob has stopped working on my central locking / isn't opening the doors anymore unless I use the key manually. But when I press the buttons the red light still flashes, so presumably the battery isn't dead. Does that mean my fob isn't synched up to the car or something like that now? Just stopped working out of nowhere.
Sounds like there's an issue with your remote :( The red light indicates that the battery is okay. A trip to your dealer will sort it...
i have the old key (blue) which opened with the new method(black)....strange
Thanks, you saved me a trip to the dealer. Would've felt silly going there to replace a battery.
You don't need a screwdriver to remove the battery. Simply push firmly down at the very edge of the battery closest to the "VW" icon on the Key Fob, and it will "Pop" right out!!. This is a NITPICK, but if you don't have a screwdriver, NO WORRIES!
Oddly, my fob has a blue logo yet opens as shown for the newer style. Many thanks nonetheless!!
Question.. I by accident broke one of three clips. The one away from. The two which sit opposite. It was kind of weak seemed like worn plastic once I added slight pressure it snapped. Do I need to change the whole tail light?? Please let me know There was a little bit of loss to the seal?
Hi, thanks for your question. If you send us an email with your reg (UK) or chassis number we'll check if the parts are available separately for your particular vehicle. Due to KZread rules I'm unable to give you the email address in this format so please pop onto our website to find it. VWGenuineParts.co.uk Kindest regards, Team VWGP
I've been "reliably" informed that there is a time limit on how long the battery may be removed from the fob before being replaced. Is this nonsense or is there any truth in it?
Hi John, we've only ever taken a battery out and fitted a new one straight away but I can't imagine it's an issue. Customers bring remotes to us that have been flat for ages and they're fine and don't need recoding. A dead battery is the same as no battery as far as I can see. If you're still concerned just have your fresh battery ready and swap them straight over. Hope that helps Sir! Kindest regards, Team VWGP
excellent and clear - saved me a trip to the shop - thanks!
My "Park" indicator warning light keeps flashing in red on the dashboard in my VW Tiguan 2013. The Yellow (P) with a slash going accross it... indicator light remains on at dashboard. what's going on?
Hi Monique, sounds like a parking brake fault although it's not one we've seen before. We would suggest a trip to your Volkswagen dealer to have it plugged into their diagnostic machine... Best of luck, regards, Team VWGP
it only works with a key and not with the remote on my skoda fabia why ?
Hi, sorry, we're not so sure on a Fabia why that would be as it works for each Volkswagen. Have you tried the spare - is it the same? Are there settings within the dash that allow you to turn the function on/off? Beyond that we would suggest a call to your Skoda Retailer. It may just be a feature it doesn't have via the remote. Best of luck, regards, Team VWGenuineparts.co.uk
Thanks for this video. Gave me the confidence to yank back the carpet to access the light unit - something not mentioned in my handbook!
Thank you ! This was a very helpful tutorial !
mk5 r32 is alot easier but thanks for the tip

Where would i buy the 14mm multi spline tool?
Hi Luke, thanks for getting in touch. A quick Google suggests plenty of online suppliers including Amazon and eBay. Kind regards, Team VWGenuineParts.co.uk
Nice one. Easy does it. Love VW
Hello! Nice video. Just one question, to take off the cover, you just need to pull it out hard or do you have to remove some screws?
Hi Zek, the lamp is a sealed unit so you can't remove just the lens without causing damage. Sorry! Kindest regards, Team VWGenuineParts
Hello emergency. we left our key in the company caddie and now we stressing we use the and no remote for anything.. how can we get in. ... freaking out.
Hi Rory, unless you have a spare key somewhere for the vehicle there's no magic trick I'm afraid. I would suggest that you contact your breakdown company as they may have a way of getting in. Sorry we can't help further. Kindest regards, Team VWGenuineParts

How is the above accomplished with push button start? I have a 2013 Beetle
Hi John, you'll need to turn on the ignition without starting the car. To do this, press the button but don't press the brake pedal. Hope that helps! Kindest regards, Team VWGenuineParts.co.uk
another satisfied customer, many thanks.
OMG that's very clever and easy. Thanks for video.

+Connect R Don't drive it until it's been checked. We suggest using your recovery service if you subscribe to one. It may well be a false reading but not worth taking the chance and damaging the engine. Contact your local Volkswagen Retailer to see when they can look at it for you. Kindest regards, Team VWGenuineParts
FYI it can say DL 2032 it doesn't have to be CR 2032, As long as the number is correct and it also says 3V it will work just fine
Worked on first try, thank you so much!
Just replaced the wipers, it was difficultly first to press the square button and get it off lol
