Hello My friends, Thank you so much for posting this video of Llyn Brenig in gorgeous North Wales. As someone else wrote, too. It's not just all about Snowdonia, though that is beautiful, too. I went every year, twice a year there for seven years, camping close by. I went solely for the reason to fish the beautiful reservoirs of Llyn Brenig and Llyn Alwen. I used to tie my flies beforehand in preparation, but take my kit, too, to tie what I needed while I was there. I've enjoyed many glorious hours there and caught a Pike, too. I caught him on a Diwal Bach nymph dropper. He was hooked in his top lip, the leader clear of his sharp teeth, so I could have played him forever. His fight was a little lack lustre. Initially, I thought I'd hook the bottom, then the line just glided away. There was no pulling him in, he was a bit like a dustbin lid. He came in when he chose. He was about six pounds. Nothing like a fiesty two pound Rainbow! I'm not the greatest, most experienced, successful fly fisher, though I had great success with Diwal Bach's, Bibio's, Viva's, and Muddler Minnows, creating a wake, retrieving in a strong ripple. I remember too, fishing at dusk, the moonlight shining on the water. It was earie/spooky, completely silent. All of a sudden, a big fish smashed through the surface layer and took my fly. I struck and he spat my fly out as soon as he took it, saying, "Not this time, my friend!"😢😮. Best wishes, tight lines, Ian, Lancs.

@@Na-Muche A good flood will bring down trees and more inportantly clean the bottom of the river. It used to be that after a good flood and with the river fining down and clearing, it was the best time to fish. I do remember my best night ever. around 2008 I fished a small pool at night and caught fish after fish after fish, on the fly. It was a big run on that tide that evening and they rested as they entered the pool and quickly settled. In my last three years of fishing the Towey I caught only two sea trout and one Salmon. All the local boys were complaining of the trawling and the slurry being washed off the fields into the river, with the farmers spreading the slurry on their fields just before heavy rainfall. A deliberate act to get rid of slurry. Very few fish being caught and it killed most clubs.
