To be honest the fact that Max Headroom is a villain is exactly what I like about him. Max Headroom was like the 4chan of 80s television. He was edgy. He was a troll disguised as a genious caricature. If Max Headroom ever has a comeback i think he would have the potential to be like pepe on steroids!

28:16 this would've been actually genius if they acted upon it. Young and Dissatisfied or if you think about it the easily manipulated. Max Headroom using psychological warfare to ruin the efforts of the protagonists and making them question their own morals would have been perfect.

Max Headroom is not a robot or ai. He is a copy of the reporter's mind. the bio mind was so traumatized it blocked out the crash. Max started his life in vr at the point of the crash. Max Headroom got his name from the warning sign the reporter seen as his head smashed into it. as for his body it was easily explained that the server didn't have the processing power to process more. Max always brought out dirty secrets to the people outif control of others. Max wasnt stupid, max hacked the security system for the physical him becase the computer geek refused. Maybe if you make a review of a character you should actually watch the tv show.

Demitri Martin is the direct heir of the 80’s surreal comedy legend Steve Wright To do a deep dive into Demitri Martin without mentioning the influence of Steven Wright is bizarrely incomplete.

I remember this show. It wasn't loud and outrageous but he was subversive in his own way. And there are plenty of out of the box comics. Stephen Wright. Michael Winslow. Mitch Hedberg. Joel Hodgson. Pee Wee Herman. It's art and everyone has their own way of expressing their art. Sure he's a clever guy but dude's not like the mind bender, using his psionic powers to scramble your mind. It's just a unique approach. But he's great. I love him. I'm not saying I'm any kind of genius at all but when he told that joke about "The best greatest thing ever, of all time, exaggeration. No, it's second guessing." I usually don't heckle comedians but all I could think about was wishing I was there so I could shout out "INTERRUPTIONS!" Anyone can do it but not everyone can pull it off like he does. He'd probably have come back with something like "Ignoring rude people." The comedian always has the last laugh.

Regarding sketch comedy having threads tie sketches together, I think SCTV did this well, with the theme of a tv network and recurring characters in sketches

Great analysis. As I write this, ChatGPT and Midjourney have been out of the box for a little over a year; I cannot think of better timing for the Return of Max Headroom than the rise of LLMs. After rewatching this several times, I'm totally down for a character clarification; But I think when you suggest some of that stuff at the end you go off script and muddy the clarification. I suspect a podcast of some kind would be a good starting point for his return.

your intrepetation is too creepy, not the big brother shit but the racism you hold against anyone white, blond hair, blue eyed and weirdly keep saying "aryan" this word never comes across my mind unless some freak says it. Nword comes across my mind more because rappers but at least then they try to use it positively, this just disturbs me and no wonder 67k out of almost 2 million liked your video. you're 1939 than living in 2024 or even 2020. the obsession is creepy man, get help, see a therapist.

Re: change of tone from Firefly to Serenity This isn't new where there was a change in tone. A lot of people didn't like David Lynch's "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me" vs. the series that it was inspired from. Another example is M.A.S.H. the movie and its early seasons vs. the later seasons of the series. Secondly, its Whedon's style o f storytelling as we saw with Buffy & Angel, a bit light-hearted but it gets progressively heavier headier and definitely darker as it goes on. The final point you made was astute regarding Firefly and Serenity's change of tone. Serenity's story would be if using a comparison to Buffy, would be a season 5 storyarc. I liked both and can appreciate the progression as it illustrates more variety in seeing a character in a different light. The perfect example is John Constantine, portrayed by Matt Ryan in "Constantine", another short-lived show, animated series based on Hellrazer or in a group dynamic as a member of Justice League Dark to portraying the character in Legends series alongside other superheroes. Matt Ryan has loved playing the character because he's not stuck portraying Constantine in the same way as a stereotype. He gets to flex his acting skills with one character, depending on what the tone is called for in the scene. Great analysis! Thank you.

My favorite comedians are usually ones that wear their insecure longing on their sleeves. It's relatable and makes them more human, even if I suspect that they're hamming it up for an audience. It's kind of like the idea that you can't be brave if you're never scared; otherwise you're just fearless or outging or whatever

I am amazed that anyone thought Max was CG. I was at school when Max first hit the screens on Channel 4 UK. No one thought it was pure CG but me and my mates loved the look and the satire; a generic, overly slick, blond haired, blue eyed, sarcastic p**s taker of the stale, repeatedly churned presenters. To us it was exactly what Channel 4 promised to do, shake things up and make it better.
