Chacote Outdoor Recreation

Chacote Outdoor Recreation

Chacote Outdoor Recreation was a small you tube channel that breathed a spirit of adventure, the youngest thing in the world, though ancient from the dawn of man, it is for those bewitched by the wild life and the vast free spaces of the wilderness, those who would readily shed the inheritance of comfort and lapse into a primitive state of mind never again to long for the snug comfort and predetermined ways of civilized men, it is a place that a young man can learn the ways of the flintlock hawk and skinning blade from an old man that many winters have carved into his heart. Bill has written in over a dozen venues, most recently featured in Deep Countree online hunting magazine [www.deepcountree.com/] Bill shared his hunter's cunning and woodsman-ship with a style intended to empower hunters in every imaginable element, including mountain safety, and mental conditioning. I have some very expensive knives, but Green River knives rank high amongst my favorite blades. They just work, and in my opinion, they look good doing it. Good knives, good steel, still a bargain in today’s world.

AlsonIm thrilled to have something that will work after an EMP strike. BTW, I absolutely loved your Come and Take It lesson at the end of your video. "From my cold dead hands""""

    I appreciate your video, but the Jeans pocket was for a pocket watch!

  • @ChacoteOutdoorRecreation

    Have you ever tried shoving a pocket watch in that pocket? The vest and its pockets as well as the button retention device and fob, and countless historic photos make me think otherwise. 1873 - Blue Jeans Are Born Levi Strauss & Co. and Jacob Davis receive a U.S. patent for an "Improvement in Fastening Pocket-Openings." By adding metal rivets to work pants, and they are worn by working men for whom a pocket Watch is a rare luxury item. In 1914, Henry Ford astonished the industrial world when he practically doubled the wages of his assembly line workers to $5.00 per day (for a six-day week), thus making them nearly the highest-paid hourly workers. Adjusted for inflation an inexpensive pocket watch would be over 700 bucks today.

    Wax dueling?

  • @ChacoteOutdoorRecreation
    @ChacoteOutdoorRecreation2 ай бұрын

    In 1908, pistol dueling was demonstrated as part of the concurrent Franco-British Exhibition, using the Olympic fencing arena and in front of invited guests. There were no official demonstration sports until 1912. The competition involved two competitors firing at each other with dueling pistols loaded with wax bullets and wearing protective equipment for the torso, face, and hands.

    What is the greatest of all Protestant heresies? Perhaps justification by faith? Perhaps Scripture alone, or one of the other Reformation watchwords?" The greatest of all Protestant heresies is assurance. "The great diversity of Protestant doctrines stems from the doctrine of private judgment, which denies the infallible authority of the Church and claims that each individual is to interpret Scripture for himself. This idea is rejected in 2 Peter 1:20, where we are told the first rule of Bible interpretation: “First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation.” A significant feature of this heresy is the attempt to pit the Church “against” the Bible, denying that the magisterium has any infallible authority to interpret Scripture. This doctrine of private judgment has resulted in thousands of different Christian denominations and quasi-Christian splinter groups throughout history. The Protestant Bible is missing seven books compared to the Catholic Bible, meaning it is incomplete. Missing books are known as the Apocrypha or deuterocanonical books, including Tobit, Judith, Maccabees, Wisdom of Solomon, Baruch, and Sirach. King Henry did not like having to yield his royal authority to the Vatican in matters concerning how he maintained the religious institutions of his own kingdom. He was motivated to make the reforms so that he could divorce his first wife who had failed to provide him with a male heir. Divorce was forbidden by the church that was founded by Christ, Mathew 16-18 And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

    The storage box is a great idea. I wonder if I can make the same stand work for a single shot and a revolver.

  • @ChacoteOutdoorRecreation
    @ChacoteOutdoorRecreation2 ай бұрын

    I used a V notch for the octagonal barrel, for a cap and ball revolver you might try as U shape notch, four pieces of wood and some screws and a little gorilla glue for extra strength, plus that little storage box helps keep things handy, and it beats loading off hand.

    A very informative, interesting video. Until you added the superstition and mythology at the end. How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? None. How to rid someone of a demon, just slap the crap outa them and chunk their bible out the window. I won't even mention walking on water and raising a putrid, stinking corpse from the dead,,well I guess I just did. I enjoyed your video until you insulted my, and others' intelligence with religious rubbish.

    Wow, you got it right, about driving the knife in all the way to the Green River. So many people have gotten that wrong. I learned it by reading the journal of a trapper. He said and I quote "If you have to fight a bear, stick the knife in all the way to the Green River, and leave it there" I bought my first three Green River knives back in the mid 80's, 1980's that is :) And I still have them, and use them in my kitchen all the time. Great knives. Stay sharp, and hope your doing well.

    No dude it’s bc quartz isn’t nearly as effective as flint lol. Yes it will work but not as well. That’s why miquelet locks had features to better accommodate chert/quartz etc. bc on the frontier flint might be hard to find. But flint is and was always the first choice. That said thanks for the video I am trying to learn how to find & knapp flint from rocks in my area.

    I make a few on a cnc machine and cut a counterbore on eack side. One side slightly the the barrel and the other the size of your patch. This centers everything and i make the diamter of the holes to where finger pressire is the only thing needed. You should not have to pound a flat spot on the ball after bgoing through the wood.
