We love Gibson's. We've been going there for many years. Herb and Mari make it so welcoming. The property is perfect for relaxing and returning to the flow of nature. Everyone should have a place to go to like Gibson's.

I came to Washington Island way back in 1965. I was just five years old. We came up to visit some folks my parents met when my dad bought our first boat and he joined a US Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla in Ohio.. The people's last name was the Joeburgs. I remember that there was a "Potato Boat" moored in the harbor. I found from doing some reading that this must have been the last of such boats, and it left two years later in 1967. I "rediscovered" Washington Island as I have been doing initial planning and researching to do a Great Loop trip, with a stop on the island. I've been watching all these great films on KZread about Door County and the Island but I think I am going to plan a visit before I do the Loop, with a trip all the way from Florida in summer 2024. This place is gorgeous and fascinates me.

Have made the trip a few times now. First time was just with bicycles. Very nice excursion, though the bicycles were a bit ambitious for our family. (Especially since some roads have no shoulder.). Loved the history and the friendliness of all the folks, the shopping, and the beautiful scenery. Looking forward to the next trip, where we hope to include Rock Island.

My buddy owned some land up there. I think it was only a acre. But he gave his portion to his sister back in the 80s. Wonder what that same acre is worth it now?

I have wonderful memories of swimming out at the Hagens' in the 80s and 90s when my family would drive up to spend time with my grandparents. 😊 Some of my favorite childhood memories are from the Island.

We're coming! Plan for 3 months in Wisconsin, as my great-great-great-grandfather Ovren Mikkelson settled in Cambridge in 1871 together with four kids and grandchildren. We'll end our trip at Washington Island, reminds me of Helgøya Island in Lake Mjøsa:-)

Do not let fear dictate the originality of Washington Island. Implementing a stronger broadband such as 5G is not a good idea as 5g may be not be so great for our health and the health of the residents of the island. Covid is over a 99% survival rate. Those who get serious side of effects from Covid are from folks who need a healthier lifestyle. A person with old age can have a strong immune system also. The flu kills 35,,000 each year in the US and over 500,000 worldwide and this is with the flu vaccine. Heart disease kills 600,000 Americans each year, yet we don't go after the bad foods stop this pandemic. The point is to try to keep Washington Island true to itself. Fear may only destroy the island and we do not want crony capitalism to take over it. We should stand for true independence of the people. Turn off the television and the news, it is all fear monger. If I have to move to the island to defend and protect the people , I will.

Thank you for the information. I am only a visitor and my first visit was last summer but I made plans to come back this summer so the information you are giving is great for me. I will keep watching and getting the information about your wonderful island opening back up. I travel there with my RV and stayed at the campground and plan to again this year so if there are any updates about the campground that would also be appreciated. Thank you again and very informative.
