Think people think. I have been meditating for at least forty years and according to the instructions I would have been a siddha for thirty-eight years. I practice four advanced techniques + istdevata. Result? I've been suffering from insomnia for at least 27 years! I spent my life savings in vain on three Ayurvedic treatments, six Vedic vibrations and I no longer remember how many yagyas. What was the result? It's night here, I'm still awake and what's more I've become poor. NOTHING WORKS! I was forgetting: I am a musician-composer, I had dedicated twenty tracks to Maharishi plus others to Guru Dev. I published the tracks on my KZread channel respecting the times and days of two muhurtas. At least fifteen years have passed but my music isn't getting any success. Many years ago I financed the purusha for a good fifteen years and I didn't give £10,000 or £30,000. I'm still waiting for the Laws of Nature to return. Result of the results? NOTHING WORKS! Meditate people, meditate but don't waste your money on Vedic vibrations, Ayurvedic treatments, muhurtha and especially yagya. I think this was filmed like months before the OJ Simpson robbery situation that resulted in jail time. Then he went on to lead what sounded like a pretty routine life that he would share on social media - he would present himself as upbeat and living the dream, but I suspect “yours truly” was a sad man in a dark place until his passing. The Vince Staples Show had an episode with a family reunion that had an Uncle JJ…and it was clear by the end that his character was representing OJ….and it really seeemed to nail what I’d expect his life to have actually been like. at 46:44 david has a chance to address the “elephant in the room” of meditation which is how it deals with human suffering. david obfuscates and makes it about his inconsequential tour of the land in question. he does not answer the man’s question. this is the problem with extracting practices from entire systems that have ethics at the foundation. david transcends just to break through to another level of white supremacy. a white supremacy rooted in colonizing esoteric practices and large promises of transcendence. no amount of celebrity endorsers can convince me otherwise. david has no ethics gained from TM. he is a racist liberal whose care is weaponized against people who can’t afford TM and seek to question it. david can sit for 20 mins morning and night with a mantra stolen from indigenous people all he wants. bob roth can charge fortunes to learn words of power which were meant to be free all he wants. whether or not david makes popular art house films or not is null and void. his liberal racism is not spiritual, it is not holy. if you read this, find a meditation teacher and a community that are willing to have the hard convos around human suffering. stay away from those that are fos. peace.

I was curious when I first clicked on this but had no intention of watching more than a minute or two. The film is so well made and listening to David speak was so interesting I wound up watching the entire film. I especially liked the way he spoke about the size and depth of one’s consciousness as it relates to the artistic process and creating art. Certainly a whole lot of food for thought here and so much to reflect on. Thank you for sharing this.

You speak truth. . . silencing the mind is paramount but quite challenging to master. Transcending into pure consciousness crosses cultures and is ancient but may require discarding personal attachments, one must not expect transcendence until attachments are subdued. That consciousness existed before people, God created us because He had a need to reveal Himself to seekers of that which is behind all that.

Many places still practice a form of this. My catholic school and church growing up had us clear our mind and practice “silent contemplation” at the end of every small weekday service and often in school for about 30 minutes at a time. They would also encourage us to come early and do so before service. Not exactly the same thing as completely letting go, but a take on it from a different view I suppose.
