It's too bad you didn't visit Movieland Park right next to Gardaland. It is, together with Europa-Park, my favorite amusement park in Europe. Because it doesn't have any real coasters it often gets missed by coaster enthusiasts, but it is such a unique park and really not comparable to the other parks. Also, value for money is insane at this park, I felt like I ripped them off because I paid only 34 Euros for entrance. It is one of the smallest parks I have ever been to, but it is just so insanely unique and the attractions are INSANE.

Toverland is only a 15 minut drive for me and i also got a year-pass for the park. Seeing it on number 7 on your list makes me appreciate the park so much more, specifically cos i like Efteling more but since its an hour drive i stick with Toverland^^ I have also bin to Europa park + Rulantica (waterpark), and what can i say... for me personally Toverland and Efteling cant compare to Europa park, for me that park is on the same level as Disneyland when i went there as a kid. Europa park on its own is great but with the added waterpark (Rulantica) i totaly fell in love with this place, i am going for a second time very soon, cant wait! :)

I haven't visited many parks, but tho I love Europapark (since it's my home theme park and relatively close to where I live), I personally was blown away completely the first time I viseted Phantasialand. The theming and overall feeling of this park is just stunning and I think it will stay my personal number 1. Especially with F.L.Y. and Rookburgh. Maybe it's because I know Europapark since I was a little child, so it doesn't have this feeling of unknown wonder and exploration, but Phantasialand feels like being in another world. The rollercoasters are great as well! Taron might be overrated, but I don't care. It's great. The concept of overrated roller coasters is a bit weird to me, tbh.

  • @dragon_platypus

@@Coaster_Critic Yeah I think it has a lot to do with personal preference. Europapark is definitely more open and less cramped on a normal day but the narrow pathways of Phantasialand give up a special vibe to me that I really like (The two times I visited the park, it wasn't too crowded.) I'm just so glad that both parks exist! Heidepark was a bit disappointing to me, but it's been almost 10 years since I was there. But like I said, I grew up with Europapark. I figured most parks won't be on the same level as that.

Having revisited in 2024 and getting to experience Nemesis Reborn, I still agree with almost everything I said in this video. Nemesis is a good roller coaster, but it's very far from elite, and as I stated, the park would benefit greatly from a coaster that's a step up from anything they have now.

Nice ranking, I'd love to see these parks gets a new coasters shown here: Legendia - Vekoma Family Boomerang (this park lacks family coaster and really needed one) Holiday Park - Mack Xtreme Spinner (obviously.) Walibi Belgium - B&M Surf Coaster (this popped up in my mind) Thorpe Park - Gravity Group Wooden Coaster (this park needs a wooden coaster) Linnanmaki - RMC Raptor (I know this park has Taiga which is a perfect coaster but a 1-2 punch would be nice.) Tivoli Gardens - None, because I don't want Rutchebanen to get overshadowed. Nigloland - Mack Stryker Coaster (this is just a mini-playground for Mack so why not) Grona Lund - New New-gen Vekoma model (you know the drill) Gardaland - Intamin Blitz (please give them a true standout coaster) Tripsdrill - Intamin Hot Racer Plopsaland de Panne - B&M Hyper (even though that'd be too much for, say, family park) Mirabilandia - GCI Wooden Coaster Walibi Holland - Custom RMC Raptor (you know they got one and still under construction) Hansa Park - Vekoma Super Shockwave Djurs Sommerland - Mack Multi-launch Farup Sommerland - B&M Surf Coaster Heide Park - New-gen Vekoma models Parc Asterix - Gerstlauer Hyper Infinity Coaster (seriously, this park gets so stacked, and please retrack Goudurix) Alton Towers - Intamin Blitz (I want it below the tree lines and packs the intensity and airtime) Toverland - Mack Stryker Coaster with 5 inversions Liseberg - B&M Hyper (please fill the rails with sand) PortAventura World- Intamin Blitz Efteling - Mack Xtreme Spinner (below the tree lines with some intensity thrown in) Phantasialand - GCI Wooden/Hybrid Coaster that goes through theming and trenches Energylandia - Mack Xtreme Spinner (this park has so many Vekomas already, it needs more from other companies) Europa Park - Mack Xtreme Spinner (this park is literally a playground for Mack so why not give them the model in the park that they were missing?)

I am experiencing a second youth with my brother (I just turned 35 yesterday) and are touring Europe for theme parks. Last year we did a road trip (I live in Belgium) to Denmark. We did both Sommerland parks and on the way back did Hansa-park. It was second half of august and apparenlty in Denmark schools were already back running. So there were hardly any crowds! I must say Piraten and Juvelen and Phoenix weren't too special in our opinion. Both good parks and we had a blast as both parks had their own free on site small water parks as well! We didnt know much about Hansa Park so hadnt have much expectations about it, but oh my Kärnan absolutely one of the best in whole Europe! I agree with a lot you say. I too find FLY the most overrated coaster in Europe, didnt enjoy it actually. Also did 3 days of Portaventura half september thinking it would be quiet. Oh boy were we wrong, lazy Spain so they have massive summer hollidays and school only starts end op september, so it was 2 days of queing, against our personal beliefs day 1 we bought crazy expensive fast passes as otherwise we would barely be able to ride anything, and doing the trip from Belgium is quite an investment. Shambhala is my 2nd fave coaster in Europe so far and also loved Furious Bahco so we did have a good time in the end, but like you it left us with a sour after taste as this park could be absolute elite under different management. I hear rumors about Universal wanting to buy it back? Would be amazing news... Also enjoyed Plopsaland recently (40% discount through our Bobbejaanland season passes!), Bellewaerde with its new Amazonia unique water ride and yesterday Walibi Belgium. We were fortunate there were hardly any crowds (crowd calendar put it at 2% capacity) and basicly everything was walk-on or max 10 minutes of queing. Managed 5 rides of Kondaa and its truly one of the best in Europe as well! Regards theming Walibi Belgium did improve a lot and more investments are being done every year. Pulsar is a very unique launching water coaster, Flash back is a very fun log flume, Dalton Terror an older but intense drop tower... We had an amazing day. I'm sure you would have had a much better experience with less crowds. If you ever come to Belgium or the neighborhood, make sure to give Bobbejaanland and Bellewaerde a try! Smaller parks but Bobbejaanland has a very good triple launch coaster with fury and Bellewaerde has its unique new water ride, unique Huss topple tower (which breaks down more than it runs) and is also partly a zoo. The park itself is beautuful and charming. Couple of weeks ago did the combo Parque Warner / Parque de Attractiones Madrid. Glad I could add the unique extended skyloop Abysmo in PDA and Escape from Gotham City in Warner. Both are good parks, but typical spanish horrible operating and unfriendly staff who dont speak a word of English. Next on the list: Walibi Holland, Efteling, Heide-Park, Energylandia + Legendia, Thorpe, Chessington, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Alton Towers, Parc Asterix, Toverland... So we wont be bored next 2 years! Oh yes, we also did Movie Park in Germany, which was also a free entry through our Bobbejaanland season pass (all PDR parks). While not an elite park, its still fun to do!

I want Alton Towers to be more confident in their ability to creatively and effectively market a new ride. All of their Secret Weapons are prototypes, with the exception of Nemesis (which was still a very early B&M inverted coaster) and Wicker Man, seemingly because they think they need to do something new and/or record-breaking to draw the crowds. Wicker Man showed that applying creativity and attention-to-detail to an already existing ride model can do the job, I hope they use that philosophy with their future rides Being the first to do something is great. But a ride like Oblivion is now totally dated and that's because the full potential of a ride model will almost never be realised with the first installation. And with a record holder like The Smiler, another park can do the bare minimum to break that record and once it's broken, it's no longer yours With Wicker Man, I think it's appeal and standing amongst other similar types of ride are both far less vulnerable than those two aforementioned roller coasters because a) the experience is the selling point (which won't diminish so long as the park take good care of it) and b) the designers understood the full capabilities of the ride hardware at the beginning of the design process which leads to a far more complete ride

  • @Coaster_Critic

something i didnt see mentioned here, is how the restraints of RMC tank the rides capacity. The RMC's i have been on have had both lab bars and seat belts. This combined with the low placement of the ride vehicles means operators have to bend down and check 2 different restraints, which in turn leads to longer time between dispatches. Compare this with Mack for example, who have higher seats, with only one restraints that is easily accessable to ride operators.

It's a shame you didn't get to do de Vliegende Hollander. While I don't love the Efteling like others do, Vliegende Hollander still has my absolute favourite queue of all time. I'm almost disappointed when the queue is under 30 minutes because it's genuinely that good. Phantasialand is still #1 for me. I completely agree that the park is way overcrowded. The park has exploded in popularity since the opening of FLY and it's become a chore to visit. Lines are consistently an hour or more for all their headliners, which was never the case before. The pathways are annoyingly crowded even compared to something like Europa Park which attracts even larger crowds, but has far more space to put those people in. However, the lineup is batshit crazy. Taron is spectacular. FLY is very good. Chiapas is the best log flume in the world. River Quest is the best rapids ride in the world. Colorado Adventure is one of the best minetrain coasters in the world. Then it has amazing supporting attractions like Winja's, Talocan and Mystery Castle. It has such an incredible lineup that I can forgive its flaws. Also, I disagree about Phantasialand's operations. I've never been at the park while the operations were anything less than stellar for more or less all their attractions. They push out trains like crazy, only bested by Europa Park.

Phantasialand absolutely has a better coaster lineup; Efteling has a very particular vibe to it and I could see people not liking it

I agree. I don't visit Europa Park very often anymore, because it's been my homepark and I know all the coasters too well. It's so good that with Voltron we finally have a new top coaster, because that's exactly my only critique as well: Coaster lineup. And that says a lot, because it means that everything else - e-v-e-r-y-t--h-i-n-g - is absolutely immaculate. I am still in awe whenever I consciously pay attention to the ride operations! Like, look at what they are doing! Eurosat and Silver Star are probably the two most fascinating operations to look at, it just flows so satisfyingly. And the capacity, the line moves and moves. Since it has been my homepark, I took it for granted, but now I know that Europa Park probably just has the best operations worldwide, and if not certainly among the very top. Add to that the theming and love put into everything. Like season-specific decoration with thousands of pumpkins or christmas trees, flowing seamlessly into each other between Halloween and Christmas, getting more and more christmasy every day. What a great idea! In the summer, they place chairs and deckchairs around in open places and green spots, where people can relax. They use the great weather and scenery to provide a free-diving show, then in Portugal it really feels like summer near the sea, it's deceivingly tricky, the scenery is just that good. In winter they provide places with those logs that burn from the inside for a long time, where guests can warm themselves. That just speaks of consideration and care and thought in the wellness and comfort of the park guests. To be honest, I can't talk about all of Europa Park's service qualities, the list is just too long. Now they just had to provide some pull factors again, some more coasters, and they're just in the game. I know their family manufacturer Mack Rides got it in them, certainly when I tried DC Rivals, and now they put out Ride to Happiness as well. And now Voltron. I see a bright future if Europa Park just continues to bring the good Mack Rides producsts in, which they haven't for a decade, but maybe now that is about to change.

Huh... I didn't know the rollercoasters get faster as the day goes one. I makes sense now that it has been said though.... I've ridden Taiga twice (I was terrified, biting my teeth together and mostly keeping my eyes closed) and both times were towards the evening... 5-6pm or so... so it would've been faster than during mornings then?

Yes, roller coasters "warm up" during the day, so they're faster at night than in the morning

I am riding AireForce One in less than a week and I am super excited and I might be riding Velocicoaster in September so I don’t the know the order yet but I guarantee my top 3 will be made up of T-Express, AireForce One, and Velocicoaster.
