Hey man, I just found your channel and this video has been a real blast. I wanted to ask if you have any insight because I'm sure American clocks have roughly the same mechanisms, such as the striking hammer having three levers on its arbor. ive eug around and I cant find very much about this part specifically. So I found a Sessions movement in pieces and it came with the striking hammer outside the movement. When I put everything back together and allow it to strike, the hammer bounces a lot each time it strikes. In this Seth Thomas, the hammer has no recoil. Is one of the three levers on the hammer meant to counter this recoil or is that the job of the spring wire? If you can respond, I'd be very happy.

This is why if a supposed "clock maker" gives too low of a price to do a thorough svc. They're only gonna over oil pivots, not disassemble and potentially damage your clock. This profession takes expertise, tools and time to complete. First to diagnose,disassemble/ clean /rebush, if necessary. Then after assembly they have to let your clock run and make needed adjustments. A watchmaker clockmaker has to charge for all of this, unless they owe you a favor or something.

It takes a long time to do it right, and I'm just an amateur. A professional clock maker might be a little quicker, but you're also paying for the skills and expertise they have. Above the Music Box is a Battery Holder for (1) D-Cell battery. There is a Red & Blue Electric wire & there is an Electric Motor what in the Heck do I have? There are (3) Weights that look like Wood Carvings they are not Pine Cone steel weights. The height of the clock is over 24” tall. This clock has the Works. Where can I purchase a music Box that plays Elderwise? This clock had to sell upwards of over $2,500.00 or more!! What kind of clock do I have? Any Answers on this Project?

I have this clock movement in an Ingraham mantel clock...date 6/35. It was given to me as a gift 35 years ago. Worked well for years but not for 20. Now needs some TLC to restore and I'm trying to learn how to do this myself (which is overwhelming) but your post is terrific. Thank you so much
It's fun to work on, and I'm sure you can do it. Just take your time and take lots of pictures/videos for reference. It does feel overwhelming, but just take it a step at a time, and I think you'll be alright! Thanks for watching!
There are so many videos on you tube on just about everything but a very and i might add very very few of them are worth watching and learning from because the video is recorded by some one knowledgeable as well as humble person who goes step by step, you are one of those persons and I thank you.
Thank you so much. I really do appreciate your comment! Thanks for taking the time to watch and reach out!
El detalle del patito en el baño de las piezas me terminó de convencer de que eres un perfeccionista!!!!Gracias por un video tan claro y bien hecho,
I try to be a perfectionist :). Thank you so much for watching!
great video! i'm curious why you dont use a clock cleaning solution w a bigger ultrasonic machine? however it's cool how you hand clean every part.
At the time, I chose to save a little money by using something cheaper at the expense of a little more elbow grease. Ideally, I would prefer a bigger ultrasonic cleaner to regain more of my sanity. Thanks for watching!
Wonderful narration and work done….it makes me appreciate clock repairers a whole lot more. The case came out beautiful but I would have risked cleaning the face up a wee bit more…
Thanks! I still have the clock, so maybe one day I'll try working on the clock face again. Thanks for watching!
Good job Sir!
Thanks!
I like the simplicity of your design, which in turn brought a reliable and fully functional winder. Do you think using bearing on vertical pieces of wood would be beneficial? Thanks for the great video!
It could be beneficial. It's worked pretty good so far. Thanks for watching!
Would you be interested in restoring a Westminster chime mantle clock that has been in my family for at least 90 years? It stopped working the week my father died and we are unable to find anyone to restore it. It is in really good shape, it just stopped.
You can email me at [email protected]. Thanks for watching!
Shame you had to have an injury to prompt you to increase the safety gear. I think it’s great to include a safety tip or two in every video. I saw this clip yesterday. Ear muffs and and safety glasses I’m ready 🤠 kzread.infoYKEvvdUecdU?si=2CF4Pg7WXLSg5Gx4
Yeah, it was really a lesson I learned the hard way. Thanks for watching!
At my local Ace Hardware store, they have speciality brass screws with straight slot heads. They are more expensive; however, they are more correct to use on old pieces. The Phillips head screws aren't correct.
Yeah, I couldn't find the right ones at the time. I plan to switch them out. Thanks for watching!
Great job. Do you have a technique to remember where everything goes and what order to install things? Probably just youthful memory 🤠
The technique is recording video and taking pictures of everything I do. That's why I have video in the first place :). Thanks for watching!
Great video. What is the name of the phone app you are using? I also notice the tic tock didn’t sound equal. I’m having this problem with my clock. Did the app show you it is uneven?
That info and more is in the description of the video, but I'll put the link here for you, too. The app is called Cuckoo Clock Calibration, but it's not specific to Cuckoo clocks. It will show beat consistency, which has to do with beat error or the ticking not sounding equal. Thanks for watching! @@WatchOverhaul Thanks for that. I did go looking in the description first but I think my phone didn’t want to scroll that far down. My own search did that app but the cookoo word did put me off 🤠
This is amazing! Im attempting a restoration of an 1848 burge and fuller weight driven clock myself, glad to see other peopl out there who are into this hobby like i am.. great work!! 10/10
Yeah, it's fun figuring it all out! Thanks for watching!

I have a Question to ask I just purchased a Schender Coukoo clock that was built between 2001 & 2008. It was one of the Biggest made it is the Hunters model. But this is what puzzles me.
I'm not sure. I would suggest asking this over at mb.nawcc.org.
I remember long time back my grandpa who has died now he had a wonderful grandfather clock what it did it kept dinging worng hours one hour ahead at 12.00 it did 13
Sounds like the hour hand needs to be removed and added back, pointing at the correct hour.
