Nice flight plan entry lesson. Can you please add how to save that flight plan to the flight plan database. This would be useful if you wished to quickly recall the flight plan for a trip made often. Thanks for any consideration.

Great video, Chris. I, too, am a rusty pilot coming back to flying. In fact, I just passed my BFR today so I'm current and legal for the first time in 20 years. One of the hardest parts of getting current again was learning to use the glass cockpit. Your videos have been very helpful!

If you had paid attention to the first few seconds of the video you'd know where to download it. If you didn't watch the video, you should try doing a web search before asking silly questions. BTW -- Download, somewhere, and anybody are one word!

It's pretty hard to find on their website. I believe this is what you want: www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=3532 It's their "400W/500W Series Trainer".

Chris, Nice Video. On the Approach do you add down trim? The last time I went flying the instructor made me add up trim the plane seemed floaty and slow, I considered that dangerous because of landing stall. How do you set up for landing?

Chris, I'm a rusty pilot who recently started flying again after stopping for several years. I am very new to GPS. I started flying again and am overwhelmed with GPS, since I didn't train in it. Your videos on the Garmin 430 have helped me a lot! I am preparing to build up cross-country time so I can start my instrument training. This was the perfect video to watch. A lot of CFI's are instructing to build hours and don't seem to have a passion for teaching. You seem like you have a strong passion for it. If you were in California, I would love to have you as my instrument instructor.

good vid,,, the only thing I would add is,,, garmin recommends using the FPL function over the D button,,,as it makes a straight line between 2 way points, airports etc using the D button in a cross wind will change the heading and your position as you blow off course and is not the shortest route in a cross wind event I would only use the D button in the event of having to go to the nearest etc for if something comes up on yr flight
@jonathantrunz44826 жыл бұрын
I do not believe this is correct. It will draw a line from the place you said go direct to your destination. if you get blown off course you are also off of the direct line And that would be the pilots fault.

nice vid! and you nailed it in the beginning, I'm a VFR guy who pretty much uses the 430 for nav/com and Direct To, so this steps it up a little, I'd like to learn how to use the 430 FPL to also get all the frequencies en route, like atis and tower etc.. thanks!

I love the radio work as much as the flying. Not sure if you have seen my last few videos but I transitioned PHX class B a few weeks ago. Good Times!!!!
