Nice video what is your ballast system in your deep flight?
@Kinke2 ай бұрын
Can I put a picture on a comment? It is unusual, a 91 gram juice bag, 2 micro diaphragm pumps, 2 micro limit switches, 2 pwm to a relay cube.

Wow this thing is fast! Is it that fast out of the box or did you modify it at all? Very cool. You should totally add FPV. Makes controlling it much easier!

Graupner quit making this model. It was designed with a speed 500 DC motor and has a 2 to 1 gear box with 2 counter rotating props. This is the second one I built and I put the largest Brushless motor that would fit, 38mm? I would have to look it up. Yes it is fast.

@@Kinke Very nice! how many cells on the battery? Shame that quit making it... there really isn't much on the market... Though maybe there isn't really a market... haha.

I still love this sub after all these years and I would pay a substantial amount to obtain one like this
To actually "fly" it as was done in the series, you'd need to rig a lightweight model with stiff guidewires and pull it through the air. This was called "the Lydecker method", after Howard Lydecker who pioneered it with the rocketships seen in the old 'Commando Cody' serials.

the funding necessary isn't truly obtainable for most citizens, such as nuclear engines. Most large companies don't seem to even try to make such "trivial" machines, though I can see a lot of future profit in the invention of a working, lifesize model.

Admiral Nelson was an absolute genus with designing and building the Sea View along with the N.I.M.R. When the Flying Sub was designed and built, no doubt Nelson used some type (perhaps top secret) of super alloy for the haul. Which was light enough for flight and strong enough to withstand pressure in the depths of the sea. The craft did have nuclear engines, along with ballast tanks.

Kinke, it's OK that it doesn't fly...it looks gorgeous and it swims and dives and loop-de-loops! I built the plastic (Revell?) model when I was a kid, and you made me feel forty years younger by posting this video. I hope you'll market the prototype someday soon, or make a bundle by finding someone who can. Thanks and good luck!
